It's true that malevolence for hellions - or daemons, if they are truly one and the same - is inevitable; the daemonic nature is born from its existence in the world around them. Exist as a hellion for long enough without purification, and the chance of losing yourself to it grows exponentially. It's why the world was in such a sorry state after the last Shepherd passed. It's why seraphim became dragons. Malevolence grew in the heart of a cursed man who couldn't hold onto his humanity as he became a hellion, eventually deteriorating into The Lord of Calamity. The threat to his heart became a threat to the world. The same could be said of Maltran- malevolence claimed her against her will, and she could only choose to embrace it, or fall to it. She chose the former, and longed to watch the world burn. Evil was thrust upon them, and death their only salvation.]
