Gen nodded in agreement - those two extremes were certainly what he tended to see in people who'd been revived. Then, he laughed softly. "I'm much more in tune with the social things people need - culture, stories, heroes and the like. Beliefs - not just religious ones, but a sense of identity and community - they're what bring people together."
"Naming our ship the Perseus, someone who defeated a monster that turned people to stone ... that wasn't coincidence, of course," Gen grinned. "And none of us even believed in Greek gods. The story alone was enough."
