At first all anyone might notice is the pressure of nightmare energy.

The skies are gray with fog and mist. There's a large ship heading out to sea. The ship's destination is unknown. In the distance the ocean waves crash against the ship's exterior. This isn't a tiny fishing boat but it's a massive vessel equipped with cannons. It belongs to a Lord.

The scent of blood lingers heavily on the deck. A man with black hair, black clothing and a menacing expression stands with his blade drawn. At that very moment Alphen charges ahead and reaches for his sword. There's a heavy metallic clang as he takes on a battle stance. Alphen can't let that man anywhere near his friends or show them harm.

He's seen what Vholran is capable of doing. An entire field of Zeugles were wiped out in an instant. They saw that scene back in Cyslodia and the last thing Alphen wants is to be a victim to Vholran's blade and end up like those Zeugles.

"Stop right there!"

Sparks from his blade fly as he strikes at Vholran. Their blades clash and they appear to be equally matched.

Memories flow through Alphen's mind. Three hundred year old memories reveal themselves and a young girl appears before him. This girl is Naori, she's set to be the next Maiden whose main objective is to aid the Sovereign in the channeling ceremony. Naori looks alarmingly like Shionne. All his memories from both the past and present are blending together.

In that instant, he starts to believe that Shionne might be dead. His powerlessness and constant dread warps the space around him. He loses himself in those memories and all sense of reality is lost as well.

Alphen lets out an inhuman scream and his nightmare begins to continuously expand. Unless something is done he may never return to being human.

A monstrous dragon stands amidst everything else. It’s something that shouldn’t belong in this world and a manifestation of Alphen’s nightmare energy. He’ll need help to overcome this challenge.
