[closed] i want to slay my demons

Who: (botw) Link, (botw) Zelda, and those who signed up to fight their Blights
Which: closed log
Where: just outside of town
What: the Malice distortions come to a head,
Warnings: Fight! Fight! Fight! (violence, death of the Blights) possibly also some body horror - the Blights are pretty gross

Note: after this log, Link and Zelda will be gone until July 1!

A stormy evening gives way to quiet dawn. To say the past week has been chaotic would be an understatement; strange distortions remain present in Reverein even now, causing monster attacks and disorienting illusions. The morning is quiet at first, with two longtime citizens of Reverein disappearing quietly from their home. They appear near the edge of the town, encased in two large crystals, still seemingly fast asleep. These crystals are visible for all to see, but those who dare to approach will find strange versions of Link and Zelda standing guard, unwilling to let anyone pass.

In fact, rather than let you pass, and risk waking the sleeping souls, they stand their ground, brandishing weapons and magic, prepared to fight.

[Link's a pretty smart kid much of the time, but his ability to spot what might be a trap might need just a little bit of work. The crystal holding the other Link doesn't look suspicious to him at all, so he rushes up to it with only enough hesitation to judge who's inside.

The person waiting for him there makes him glad he's taken to carrying his sword around more often lately, and he pauses once again, this time with his hand on the hilt of the blade. He'd defeated his shadowy doppelgänger once, and while it wasn't impossible for him to come back for round two... but this didn't seem to be it. Was this created from the Malice around town?

Is that why its stance was mirrored from his own?]

Are you--

[His question ends up unasked as he mistakenly takes one step closer to the crystal and the blight suddenly goes on the offensive, taking a swing he just barely managed to block with his own sword.]

Fight it is, then!

[He'll try to shove the sword away first. If he's successful, he'll go for a swing from the side, aiming for the blight's arm or torso.]

[Of course the reflection has Malice for blood, that makes sense but is also gross and probably dangerous. Link had said not to touch it, and he intends to heed that advice. Not that he intends on engaging in hand-to-hand combat with the shadow any time soon.

Or at least not intentionally. Thrusts are harder to knock away, so he intends on blocking it with his shield instead. His shield...that he realizes too late that he left back in his treehouse, so instead of metal, the shadow Link's blade grazes his right forearm instead.

He definitely bleeds blood, and while it's a painful mistake, he's not about to let it bother him too much just yet, and goes in for another swipe at the area he just sliced, since it's probably a bit weaker now.]
