[closed] i want to slay my demons
Who: (botw) Link, (botw) Zelda, and those who signed up to fight their Blights
Which: closed log
Where: just outside of town
What: the Malice distortions come to a head,
Warnings: Fight! Fight! Fight! (violence, death of the Blights) possibly also some body horror - the Blights are pretty gross
Note: after this log, Link and Zelda will be gone until July 1!
A stormy evening gives way to quiet dawn. To say the past week has been chaotic would be an understatement; strange distortions remain present in Reverein even now, causing monster attacks and disorienting illusions. The morning is quiet at first, with two longtime citizens of Reverein disappearing quietly from their home. They appear near the edge of the town, encased in two large crystals, still seemingly fast asleep. These crystals are visible for all to see, but those who dare to approach will find strange versions of Link and Zelda standing guard, unwilling to let anyone pass.
In fact, rather than let you pass, and risk waking the sleeping souls, they stand their ground, brandishing weapons and magic, prepared to fight.

He feels the siphon of his power immediately, and his attention moves from the shimmer of the barrier in front of him to where the tendril wraps around his wrist. Somnus' chin raises. He waits, waits until some blight shifts from the smooth surface of the barrier, just enough to create a window to the crystal containing Zelda beyond.
And then he acts.
A flick of his wrist dispels the barrier, and the shatter of bright magic masks the crystalline summon of a blade into his hand. A ringing, pristine sound accompanies the upward and oblique strike across the appendage that grips him, severing it from the main part of its body. Another flash, and the blade torrents towards the crystal with a trailing wisp of blue-white light, lodging blade-first a meter from its base.
Particles of his light run off cloak and hair like rain as Somnus manifests from the warp, stands, and turns in one fluid motion. The tendril of blight slips from his wrist, but a shadowy burn remains upon the pale, ghostly flesh of his form. He uses that same hand to motion toward the lightblight. Come. ]

Although Somnus managed to sear away the tendril of Malice that grabbed him, he might still feel its effects. Besides siphoning away whatever strange dreamworld energy it is that gives Somnus form, the Malice is also trying to poison him with negative emotional energies, like anger and hate. The goo itself is hatred given physical form and it aims to spread that feeling as much as possible.
The Blight turns and finds its prey in front of the crystal containing its other prey. Come? Very well. Malice wriggles down the Blight's arms and takes the form of a bow. The Blight draws back on the string and charges up a shot of pure energy, glowing white hot and red in a malicious perversion of the princess's own powers. It fires the bolt up into the sky, where it splinters into dozens more arrows that rain down on Somnus and the crystal. Each bolt is sharp enough to pierce flesh or shatter glass. Its aim is to skewer Somnus, but if he warps away again, then at least it should still be able to damage the crystal. ]

If this poison from her world skews the mind towards anger and hate, then it doesn't yet show upon his expression. Against the corrupted, wrath is something he wields well.
The arrows begin their rain.
And two things happen at once. First, a shield forms-- not around him, but around the crystal. Unlike the one before with hexagonal seams, this one's imperfections are smoothed over, thick, but neither solid nor fluid. A right and proper barrier; so long as the king stands, so does the wall. It seems he's assured it will hold against all the projectiles, because the second thing he does is charge at the blight itself, warping through the downpour of arrows to directly engage it in combat. ]

But the Blight doesn't even have the chance to see its attack fail. It barely has the chance to do anything more than raise its arms in defense before Somnus is on top of it. Rather than protect its face, the Blight shields the eye on its shoulder while also trying to angle said shoulder away from his blade.
At the same time, the puddles of Malice beneath the Blight's feet shoot upward and try to grab at Somnus's limbs. The king is much faster than the Blight can keep up with, so it's trying its damnedest to slow him down in any way. ]
