[He notices that jump, but Zhongli doesn't comment on it. Instead, he offers Trahearne another nod, humming a bit.]
In the free and prosperous lands of Mondstadt, there is no ruling lord or power which governs the land; as per the teachings of the Anemo Archon, those who live within Mondstadt are free to live as they choose, without following the whims of a ruling tyrant. But that does not mean that the nation is unguarded; quite the opposite in fact. Mondstadt is protected not only by the illustrious Knights of Favonius, who are tasked with keeping their lands safe, but also by its Four Winds.
[As he speaks, he takes a few slow steps forward; enough for them to make their way through the city, but slow enough to allow Trahearne to take his time. Though the sights of dragon marketplaces and civilizations are indeed fascinating, Zhongli keeps his attention on Trahearne, gauging his reactions and keeping talking to help distract the sylvari.]
There is the Lion of the South, a title oft held by the Grandmaster of the Knights, the Wolf of the North, the Falcon of the West, and the Dragon of the East. The Dragon of the East is an elemental being known as Dvalin. Dragons are born from a convergence of elemental energy, and possesses great power over the element that they are born from. As such, Dvalin holds a strong affinity and even greater power over the element of Anemo. Perhaps this is what drew him to Barbatos... or, perhaps it was the music he played, which can enchant persona nd beast alike. But in the end, the two became quite good friends. Barbatos always did see the good in Dvalin, and treated that child as a close companion even when his people feared him.
[Even in his world, dragons were beings of great power and capable of great destruction. Of course the people would be fearful of them at first.]
Barbatos always took great pride in Dvalin, and would often boast about him to me. Of course, there were times when Barbatos's own needs and duties would require my assistance, and I was only too happy to assist... though, there was a time that found him at our nation's border, a young dragon at his heel as he asked me to look over the child for him.
[He says this last part with some mild disdain in his voice.]
