Well, truthfully, I hadn't been home very often...I left to join the Vigil after I had turned two, and then I rarely returned after that. But I suppose you're not wrong...

I did have a few...incidents, while serving, but as my knowledge grew over the years, so did my finesse. Especially after Orr, [ A tap of a finger to his metal arm ], since I had to relearn how to use my hand all over again, after much trial and error. Nothing teaches you to be careful quite like the prospect of losing yet another limb.

[ He speaks of it in an almost dismissive tone, like it doesn't affect him much- it really doesn't, not quite anymore. He still gets the occasional phantom pain, faintly missing the normal sense of touch, but now he's had it longer than he hasn't. ]

...I still find myself getting a bit enthusiastic about new opportunities and things to learn, but I can at least say I won't be causing any explosions.
