For everyone - The Open Prompt!

[ It doesn't really matter what brings you here, but something does, either way. Be it a trip between regions, the urge to explore, caught off guard by a wild spider monkey and chased down. Either way, along your travel you spot a peculiar sight. What appears to be... a tent? And several perfectly shaped circle slab seats around. Even more peculiar, there seems to be a young girl just... laying back against a stone arch like it's a hammock, sipping from a thin metal cup. Her eyes are closed, and her head doesn't turn as you approach. (Or perhaps you don't approach, either way, she calls out) ]

Hey! Are you lost?

[ So helpful. ]

For Najaran

[ Huh, another person way out here? It's not what she's expecting. A familiar figure is close by, and by the feel of it, not doing too hot. Toph's comfortable in her campsite, but she reaches out and slams an arm down, shooting small stone markers up to help guide Najaran towards her from a (surprising) distance. Slightly smug smile on her lips. ]

For Iroh

[ The noise comes expected, perhaps. There's a short shadow by the door and a quiet. Knock, knock, knock.]

Wildcard

[ You know the drill! Poke me on hantale or Hantale on discord, or DM here if you want to plan something. Otherwise, this is the catch-all for silly scenarios, memes, or whatever else you might want to throw at her.

For the sake of planning, assume she's travelling around a lot and sorting out her own food, often camping somewhere or relaxing in a calm area. Maybe helping locals repair structures. ]

"You are amazing!" Najaran said, awed. "And now it is our turn!" She passed veg to Knight and Eidolon and Gremlin to work on peeling and cutting while she made a fire. She grabbed the stone bowl. "I'll go fill it with water!"

[Ah. So that is what bending was. It takes a lot to surprise Maedhros these days, but Toph has certainly managed to do so with her skills. There is wonder in his voice as he inspects the structure and in the back of his mind he laments the fact that his mother is not here, she would have loved to see it even more than he did.]

Incredible! This is amazing, and so well made. [From what he can see it is sturdy and well balanced, the perfect structure to hang their catch from. Which he does as soon as he fishes out a lenght of rope from his pack. Giving it a few yanks to see that the structure will truly take the weight before he starts to gut the carcass with the quick and efficent cuts of one well used to such work.] I can see why you would wish to open a school for this, you seem to be very skilled at what you do.

[He hums a bit under his breath as he works.]

Then a stew it is, on some of the better cuts of the meat I think, and then I'll dry the rest for us to split between us.

"Yeah. I know." Smug as always, her head just bobs in agreement. Taking a seat nearby, she kicks her feet up and rests back, waiting for her to get back before speaking up again.

"What have you been up to anyway? Over in the city. I haven't really been checking it out.

[ Toph tends to enjoy the little bits of surprise she can get from stuff like that. And the hanging rack is very much just a small piece of that pie. The stone camping tent, the stone seats, all start to make a bit more sense. ]

You can even say I'm the best!

[ No really, do say that. She believes it with all her heart. ]

That's simple stuff too. You guys really never had anything like bending where you come from? It's really fun.

[Well, Maedhros does not need to exagerate his awe at what she can do. It's not exactly that he has never seen anything as impressive before, he used to live among the Valar after all, but that it was a human that did it.]

You'll certainly not hear any arguments from me. It is a very impressive feat and you should certainly be proud of it.

[He makes a thoughtful noise.]

Not bending, no, but we do have Song. We can acomplish quite some feats with it, though I am not as great a Singer as some and so I doubt I could do anything quite so impressive as what you can.

[ Her brow lifts, turning his way after a brief head shake. ]

And I thought telling people my power was "bending" led to confusion!

Do you also get a lot of people assuming you just mean singing?

Mmm-hmm. Where I come from the world was created through Song, and as such it can be quite a powerful tool.

[He smiles as he carefuly removes the blader from the carcass, so as to not taint the meat by causing it to leak or rupture.]

Not from my own people, no, and not really from the Dwarves either... but some humans that were perhaps not as familiar with my people might not have always understood what we spoke about before they heard one of us sing a Song of Power.

Really? That's kind of... Interesting.

[ Toph's shifting some prepared wood over to the stone bowl she's made. It's fairly thick, so it will take a while to heat up as well.

Tinder is sorted, and all she needs is a little bit of dreamotion to start the flame. She's got this whole wilderness survival thing down! ]

What are dwarves?

It is, learning how differently the worlds we all come from are is very interesting.

[Skinning the thing is easy enough, it takes even less time for him than removing the organs did. Now all that remains is disposing of them in an appropriate manner.

Picking out the most tender pieces of the meat to cook is also an easy task, as is cutting them up into cubes of an apropriate size.]

They are a crafty and noble folk, in my own opinion, for I have had many great alies among them. Though some of my people do not get on as well with them as I do. They are short and stout, as the name implies, but hardy warriors and skilled craftsmen as well as savy traders. They live longer than humans, though not as long as elves.

Maybe. There's plenty around. But I'm not doing all the work. You can find the edible ones for me, I'll do the picking.

You're telling me. Everyone else keeps going on about things like "gods" or "magic"... and we didn't have any of that! Yet no one can figure out bending!?

[ Fire lit, Toph slowly steps back and finds herself a spot to sit, stone shaping to her form to lay back against. Yeah, that's the life! ]

I kindof feel like a dwarf... when you say it like that. Short, tough? Good fighters? Yeah!

How's dinner prep going?

I think it might be the wording. Bending could mean quite a few things, but as I understand it now it is basicaly bending an element to your will. Or do I get that wrong?

[Though in his opinion magic and gods were also far too nebulous terms, and not truly something his people used to explain what they did.]

I think they'd probably get on well with you, at least the ones I knew. Though you are a bit too skinny and beardless to truly be mistaken for one of them.

It's going well, I've cut up the meat we need for the stew now it's only the roots and vegetables left. I've managed to scrounge up a few during my exploring and this is as good a time as any to use them.

Singing can mean a few things too... But it's the same thing, isn't it? Changing something through your actions.

[ She stifles a laugh. ]

Maybe with some of Appa's fur, I could put on the beard! I can't really help the rest.

Sure, yeah, throw them in! This parts kindof your specialty, not mine. I just eat whatever comes my way.

[ She's a very practical person, and fancy food is for someone else to cook and her to eat. Anything she makes herself is very utilitarian. ]

[ She lets out a laugh. ]

Nuts? Plants? I don't know, maybe find an animal or something.

It does seem like it. Two different ways to cause the same reaction. It is fascinating, truly.

[The thought of it brings out a genuine laugh out of him.]

Maybe so. They all sported rather impressive ones, men and women both, and they all took great pride in them.

The meat first, or the rest will end up boiled to mush. Just a bit of the wild herbs and onions for flavor.

She hauled over the heavy stone kettle full of water. Her steps trembled with the exertion, though it didn't sound in her voice; which was cheerful and bright. "I haven't found my way back yet. You?"

I’m not a clutz I’ve just… haven’t been in nature a lot… Most of my food has always come wrapped in plastic. But I’ll still try to be as useful as I can!

Don't know what plastic is, don't care.

[ She shrugs, getting the jist at least. So he's some kind of pampered person probably, right? Meals wrapped in things are fancy. ]

Lets get going before it gets cold.

[ She's already turning to walk along. Whether he follows or not. ]

Haven't found her way... hold on.

"Are you out here cause you're lost!?" She almost barked out a laugh, curious. There's a faintly amused grin on her face when the water slides back into place. Though she helped Najaran settle it over the cooking pit slightly with her bending.

Funny. I bet I'd look pretty good with a long wise beard. I could pull it off.

[ With all that said and done, toph settles back down to 'watch', or at least just let him work. Patiently waiting for food to become available. ]

She nodded. "Yeah... I..." her cheerfulness failed her. "A friend of mine was in trouble and a monster ate her. I was trying to find the monster to save her and got lost... and... um... then hungry..."
