Tea For Who? - OPEN

Iroh had found that he had been able to help people during the crisis in a number of ways. But one of them had been tea and talking. Just being there for people with a calming drink and an open ear. So he was trying that again now, once again by the base of the fountain.

Between conversations he was sipping his own tea and considering what it might take to open a tea shop here. For however long he was going to be here, that was...

For anyone who wanted to find him, he is near the fountain with a small comforting camp fire over which the tea pot is heating and a pair of large picnic style baskets, one of snacks and one of teas and tea fixings. So that he can have enough for every taste and stay a while for whoever showed up without over steeping the tea.

"I do not mind it in the least. And I thank you." He grinned and patted his gut - not quite the gut he'd once had, but he was working hard to get himself back to pleasantly plump. "You don't get a girth like mine by being picky."

Maedhros smiles as he rummages through his pack until he finds the meat he carries, wrapped up in some cloth to keep it fresh. "That is good to know, and if you have need of any meat or pelts later do let me know. I don't mind hunting on the behalf of another as well as myself."

"I appreciate that, my friend." He offered a warm smile in exchange. "I am considering opening a tea shop here if I can figure out how one goes about such a thing in this place. Perhaps we could work out a barter if I manage it."

"You should, you have a knack for it." Both in making the tea itself and in dealing with people. "Though I must admit that how things work around here is a bit confusing. I would not mind bartering in such a case. I always seem to end up with a surplus of meat and pelts and such when I go hunting, I'd hate to let it go to waste."

"Perhaps I can find someone who can explain it to an old man like me. But I am certain there are many here who would trade with you..?" He tailed the end up to make his certainty seem less so.

"I'm sure you could, people seem to be friendly by and large here. I have started to make some overtures already. A couple of nice young lads trying to start up some sort of buisness of their own have agreed to trade their help in processing the hides of my kills for a fair share of the meat." Which was very welcome help. He could do a lot with just one hand but it was often a slow process.

"That sounds wonderful," he said, pleased for his friend.

"I think so as well," less of the animals will go to waste and he won't have to grow frustrated at the slow process of his own work. "It shall be good to have someone to work with again."

[uncle_iroh]

"It is often better to work with the aid of others, and to in turn aid them yourself. Being isolated for too long... often one can start to see only themself."

[holdshisown]

"That is true. I'm not entirely comfortable inside the city wall... but too much time alone and I might start to become as feral as the rest of the beasts roaming the woods." He sighs. "Finding a balance would be for the best, I think."

"Or company camping outside, perhaps."

[holdshisown]

"That too would not be a bad idea," he smiles.

[uncle_iroh]

"My nephew, as it happens, has wandered off once again. Until he returns I have been at something of loose ends. I do not think that there is any reason I could not live outside of the city limits and still run a tea shop within it... if my company would be welcome, that is."

"I'm sorry to hear that, my friend," and he truly was. "I would be glad to share my home with you, sparse as it might be for the moment. It might do us both good to have some company to share our days with."

[uncle_iroh]

"I think it might indeed. And that will give us more time to play Pai Sho."

[holdshisown]

"Maybe I'll even be able to beat you at it this time? It's refreshing to meet someone who can actually beat me in a game of strategy."

[uncle_iroh]

Iroh chuckled. "Perhaps. Though I would not count on it so soon. I have been playing Pai Sho for a great many years. Though I would also like to learn the games you are used to."

[holdshisown]

"Oh. I am in no great hurry, I can be a patient man when I wish to," he says with a smile. "And, as I said, it's not unpleasant to be faced with a challange in this. It keeps me on my toes. If you wish I can teach you a couple of them."

"I would enjoy that. You are not the only one who enjoys new intellectual challenges."

[holdshisown]

"It is one of the greatest joys to be had in life, to learn new things and challange yourself by doing so."

So this is so not where I expected the thread to go, lol

"I wish I could get my nephew to see that. But I suppose that is just another challenge to face."

Not me either, to be honest

"He is young, he'll get there eventually." It was just the nature of youths to be recalcitrant about such things. Always in such a hurry to get to the end results that they forget to enjoy the journey there.

"so long as I can keep him alive that long, yes," he said with a chuckle.

"I'm certain you'll manage," he says with a chuckle of his own. "You both seem like hardy and resourceful people."
