More like getting lost. But exploring sounded better. Besides it was rude to correct six people, right?
"Alright..." she took a breath and considered. But really? There was one story she'd told over and over again that she was practiced with at this point.
"Once there was nothing. And then the Goddess Culdra decided to create. First she created the Culdcept - the book of creation. Using the Culdcept she created the other Gods and Goddesses. And then she created all the various worlds and realities. Once she had the worlds, she began to create life on the worlds. Plants and Creatures. Dragons, Elves... all sorts of life."
"It is said that the last creatures Culdra created were humans..." she pulled her knees up under her chin as she spoke. Seeming, oddly, almost like she was remembering. "Some of her other creations didn't understand why she would create humans. We're small and weak and die so easily... but..."
She wanted to mention the great dragon Gilman then, but what he said would make no sense at this point in the story.
"Before anyone could ask Culdra or she could make any other Creatures, the God Baltheus stole the Culdcept. He wanted to destroy all the worlds that Culdra created and remake them how he wanted them to be. He wrote many things into the Culdcept, including the Migoal race to serve him and his creations, and then he created the four Elemental Lords. They were meant to destroy and recreate everything." How had the Lord of Water put it...? Oh, yeah. "They were meant to take over the role of the four pillars of the realm, and to oversee the realm under Baltheus."
She closed her eyes, remembering what she had learned. "The Lord of Flame was meant to burn the world to cinders and ash, acting as a force of sheer distruction. The Lord Of Flies was supposed to breed swarms upon swarms to block out the sun. The Dark Lord, the Lord of Earth, he was supposed to change the ecosystem to make it better for Baltheus' dark Creatures. The Lord Of Water was supposed to drown the land and all the Creatures Culdra created that lived on it that had somehow survived."
She swallowed hard, as though remembering. Though that had to be impossible, right?
"The creatures of Culdra fought hard against Baltheus and his creations. Many... so many died..." she whispered. "Near the end, most of the older races were all but dead. There were few Elves left, fewer Dragons. But... There were humans. Somehow... humans were surviving." A small almost faint smile, but it seemed odd, not like her. And it was there just a moment, then gone, her face wet with tears.
"Culdra saw that nothing was working, and all would perish. She... could no longer bear it. There was nothing lesser that could stop Baltheus, So she attacked directly. Not him... but the Culdcept itself. It shattered, parts of it falling in different forms across all realms, all realities. In mine... it fell as Cards." She took a deep breath.
"Without his ability to keep creating new troops.. Baltheus could be defeated. Finishing him took many more lives but finally he was done. The Lords were sealed away and... humans became the primary race. Especially given the fact that most non humans who were Cepters, who could use the magic of the Culdcept Cards, went into hiding for various reasons."
"Culdra never returned after that day. She vanished when the Culdcept shattered."
There was more. Sort of. That she learned after. From Grubel. But... she couldn't accept that as true... couldn't...
Besides, he was doing better, right? Maybe? Enough so that she could stop? Or maybe she should pick another story?
