1.B. Rescue Efforts - Someone wanna save the poor boy? Waking up was difficult, and he didn't know why. All he knew was that he hurt all over. He reached for his blanket, planning to pull it over himself and roll over. Maybe he was sick. He felt cold. But who felt this cold in the middle of summer?
His hand hit only more cold though. "Wha...?" he asked, trying to push himself up. It took several tries. He wasn't at all dressed for the cold. Finally his hand hit cloth. His duffle bag. It had his usual stuff in it for fencing class - summer or no summer, he still went to his extra classes, of course - as well as some things he did not recognize. Though from the stink, someone had been hiding cheese in his socks again.
He opened his mouth to complain but would up chat-tering his teeth instead. He'd yell at Plagg later. For now...
He had to get warm. He was sitting in snow, and he knew that wasn't good, but he couldn't see much through the storm And he was wearing jeans, sneakers, a tee shirt and an open thin button down with rolled sleeves. He pushed his frozen fingers to try and close his shirt and roll the sleeves down, but it didn't do much. The outfit was fashionable but not meant for napping in the snow.
He grabbed a pair of his socks and shoved his hands into them like mittens. Then he fumbled for the strap of his bag and made his leaden limbs stand.
"You know..." a high pitched voice said quietly, after making sure no one around could hear them.
He shook his head slightly and hunched in as he chose a direction and started walking, desperate to find somewhere warm. Last he had remembered he had... He had been hanging out with his friends, but if he had his fencing bag, he had been on the way to class. So the school had to be here... somewhere... right?
C - Dragons Wait... was that...? He stumbled towards the dragon. But no... it wasn't a hero he was familiar with. But it did seem to be suffering the same cold he was.
It took him what felt like forever to cross the short distance to the great beast.
"I can't do much... but maybe... this will help us both..." he mumbled through blue tinged lips as he put his arms around the dragon, hoping to share body heat. Too bad the dragon wasn't as small as Plagg or he could have hidden it in his shirt too. Not that the sodden thing was much help to anyone at the moment...
He still didn't know what was going on here in Paris, but something was wrong. Very wrong. And so far no sign of Ladybug to fix it...
D - Fighting Back Finally, something that made sense at least. And more, an excuse to transform. He had been hesitating, but now there was every reason to take his other form. Plus he'd be warmer. He'd been fighting the temptation, knowing that to use his power selfishly was dangerous. But here were monsters that were hurting people. Akumas, amoks, whatever they were, if he stopped them maybe summer would return and his Lady would show up to fix everything
Finding a hidden place to transform was easy enough. "Plagg-Glacier! TRANSFORM ME!" he called once he was sure no one would find him.
What people could see a few minutes later, however was Chat Noir's ice form skating along any and every surface that wasn't alive. Snow covered ground, a roof or three, tree branches. Whatever it took to get closer to these monsters.
He saw others fighting, though none of them were heroes he knew. But he could figure that out later. For now he was going to distract the monsters so that he could keep them from hurting anyone else until his Lady showed up. He didn't have anything to cat-ch an Akuma in, after all. And if these things were responsible for this deep freeze in summer, he certainly didn't want more of them!
He'd figure out later how there even could be Akuma with Monarch defeated and the Peacock Miraculous in trusted hands. Or his Lady would, and she'd explain it to him.
Until then, he was on distraction and decoy duty. Using his staff to propel him forward he landed in a spray of ice and snow between one of the monsters and someone it was about to hurt.
"Now now, didn't anyone ever tell you it's not ice to toy with people?" he asked, smirking. He nodded for the person he just saved to run as he spun his baton to keep the creature's attention.
It felt good to be helping. It also felt good to be warm. He gave a slow blink of his inhuman eyes to the Ice Elemental. "I think you'd pre-fur to play with me anyway, no?" His belt like tail swished, ears twitching, listening to make sure the other wasn't coming up behind him.
CandyLand Cat-ch all. How about a nice game of... dice? He had stayed transformed as long as he really dared. Then he found a secret place to transform back and fed Plagg. Freezing once more, he set off for one of the places he had seen as Chat Noir.
But when he entered Candyland he found himself less cold. Well, he felt less cold. He looked A little like Frozer, but with his own face, a long flapping backless cloak, and large snowflake crystal wings.
"What in the world? I know I usually look cool, but this is something else..." he muttered to himself. He looked around for anyone who might have any clue as to what was going on...
Locked to Gabriel Agreste - Ice Mirror Cold again. So cold. He had detransformed from Chat Noir, and again from that weird psuedo-akumitization. He was once again just Adrien, Shivering in his fashionable but soaked through clothes, lugging a bag that felt like it weighed a ton, and trying to keep Plagg warm. He'd all but given up on keeping himself warm.
He stumbled and fell to his knees. Which was probably for the best or he might have walked right into the mirror.
He stared at it for a long moment before he realized he was seeing shapes in the ice like surface.
His mother, first. Her smile was the only warm thing here. But then she turned away. He reached for her, but stopped short of touching the mirror, watching her leave. It was okay... It had to be. He'd made his peace with...
And then his father. A firm nod, then the man followed the vanishing back of his mother.
Adrien's hand fell away. That was right. His father had died. He had helped Ladybug save Paris, but he had paid the ultimate price. At least he'd explained to LAdybug about Nathlie's sickness and she had somehow...
Nathalie in the mirror then. She reached towards him then shook her head sadly and turned to follow his father, with his bodyguard. Right... they worked for his dad. With is father gone... why would they stay? They... They had only been hired to care for him, right? He had... he had probably just imaged the rest, being desperate...
Then he saw his friends. Hope filled his chest a moment, but then faded as each waved and headed off. That's right, now that Paris was safe, they all had their own lives. The resistance... was over.
Near the back of the group, among the last to leave... Kagami. He almost reached for her, but then she linked her arm with Felix's and they nodded to him before leaving. Right. They were free now... of course they'd want distance from him.
And then...
Marinette. He reached for the glass, his fingers touching the cold surface. It felt warm against how cold he was now. His sock-mitten had fallen off at some point. He didn't care.
Marinette. She wouldn't leave him. They loved each other. She'd finally managed to say it to him and he to her and...
Oh. Right. She was going to a special school for fashion design. And he'd turned his back on the world of fashion. No wonder she was done with him. He'd let her go. He loved her enough... to let her go. Though something felt like it was shattering inside him.

And then... Ladybug. His partner. His other half. She knelt on the other side of the mirror and lifted her fist to it gently. He brought his other hand up in a fist and met hers. "Bien joué" he just barely managed to get out. There was almost no sound, just an icy plume of breath. Then he realized his mistake. He had shown who he was. She knew his identity and that meant...
"Bye bye, Chaton," she said softly as he watched her take his Miraculous, watched Plagg leave with her.
His head hit the glass. His fist and fingertips still stuck there as he froze, tears of ice locked within the layers of frost on his face...
