A - Pre-Spell [Pauline does love a good love story, so when that lion man announces his new love story novels, Pauline is quick to get a book herself. She gleefully reads through the various stories...until she gets to one that seems familiar. TOO familiar.
A young girl falls in love with an older boy that works in a store near her school. She visits the store regularly to see him, quietly pining after him well into summer break. A week before school starts, she writes a letter, finally gathering the courage to tell him how she feels...only to find that he moved across the country for college two days before with no intention of moving back. Maybe it's a coinciden-
"Thus broke young Pauline's fragile heart."
FRICK. She stares aghast at the page. She didn't tell him that story! She didn't tell anyone that story! She didn't tell anyone anything! If she sees anyone with one of the novels she'll approach, hoping beyond hope, especially if she knows the person, that they haven't read it.]
You know, I hear that book actually isn't that good. If you want I'd be happy to take it off your hands.
[She hates to lie poorly and to denigrate the author's work like this but this is an emergency.]
b - Dark Woods
[As one travels through the dark forest, they may catch sight of a lantern coming towards them. As it comes closer, the lantern's holder, a blonde girl in a red hood carrying a basket with an axe strapped to her waist becomes visible. After a moment, she calls out.]
What are you doing here? It's dangerous to travel this forest alone.
c - cottage [The girl in the red hood stands at the door of a cottage. She knocks on the door once, then again, a bit more aggressively.]
Grandma? Oh, Grandma...! ...Grandma!! ...She's not answering...
[If no one answers and one comes upon her a little later, they may find her trying to break in through one of the windows.]
