He opened his mouth to reply, but seeing that book came out closed it again. He had hundreds of books... and had read them all a dozen times over already. This one looked different and interesting enough top stop him, mouth open, without having spoken.
The stun was broken when the other gestured and started to... cast a spell?
Whatever it was, he panicked and tried to stumble further back. He hit the bed as the words hit him. Magical... mice? Maybe Mr. Cheesebreath...
But before he could even finish formulating the thought he was shrinking. The pillow fell off the side of the bed and he followed, landing on it, terrified.
The now huge man crouched close to him and he cowered back. Once the man stood, he could think again. He turned to try to get under the bed, but he was growing before he could cross the pillow and a moment later the pillow was under one knee and he was full sized, sitting on the floor, pale and eyes wide.
"W...what do you want from me?" he asked, hands dropping to his sides, he left both limp so that no attention would be called to the one that was now under the bed. Or to the rat that was nuzzling his fingers reassuringly. Or possibly sniffing for cheese, he never could be sure.
