Let's see, I suppose should start with the basics. First, you'll need a target, obviously. Someone who's not very aware of their surroundings or easily distracted, that sort. Then you need to find something on them that they aren't really paying attention to. If you can grab it very quickly and smoothly, it usually works.

And of course you need to act very calm and confident, or people will see right through you!
