[War is a nightmare made flesh, he'll agree, and that's how he sees what's unfolding around him. This is war, pure and simple. Where your only options is to fight or die, nothing else matters anymore.
Choices are a luxury. A nice illusion one can afoord to keep up during peace time, but... in battle it has no place. There is only death and blood to be found there.
When the fire first sweeps past him his first thought is dragons. And he readies himself to deal with that particular threat. Not caring much at all that he'd probably not survive such an encounter alone.
Then comes the wind that sweeps the enemies away, leaving him both confused and with some much needed breathing room. Though his body still remains tense and rigid, ready to strike at whatever comes close enough to him , he does take the opportunity to pick up his sword again. He'd lost his grip on it sometime during the fight, though he can't really seem to remember when. It's all a haze to him.
He turns to asssess this new threat, shifting his stance slightly as he glares at Aang with eyes that glow with an eerie white light. He does not seem to recognize the boy right now.]
