Saving Christmas

✵ SAVING CHRISTMAS ✵

As the sun sets and the moon rises on Christmas Eve, a strange sound of jingling bells is heard high in the sky as the snow suddenly begins to fall heavily upon the town. A heavy weight of sleep slowly overcomes everyone, and just as their eyes close they'll hear a loud, raging bellow—

That damn bastard!! I won't let you ruin—!

Before the words are finished, everyone will suddenly jolt awake and find themselves scattered in a strange looking town called Whoville. Although it looks as if it's supposed to be festive, none of that holiday cheer is evident. The town is completely ransacked with torn up decorations, broken gift boxes and toys. Even its colors seem faded, music distorted and muted.

All through the town the Whos stare listlessly at their hard work now ruined, some crying openly while others remain indoors in their grief. A brave few young souls try to help clean and bolster some cheer, chanting, "It's not too late, we can fix this! We can't let that Grinch get us down!" But many just shake their heads, their eyes dim. No one seems to have noticed the sudden arrival of new faces.

In the meanwhile, the tapirs appear to inform the Dreamwalkers that they are inside another large dreamscape similar to the one during Halloween. This time, however, an entity called "The Grinch" had suddenly appeared and attacked it, stealing all the presents and leaving everything to ruin as they see now. The tapirs point to a meter floating high in the sky, and although it's not rock bottom, it keeps wavering and lowering as time passes. The Dreamwalkers must help raise the meter to save the dreamscape from turning into a nightmare.

"But the big guy is really angry now," the tapirs chatter among themselves. "If they help fix things, maybe they'll gain a powerful ally!"

Dressed in Christmas themed attire, it will be up to the Dreamwalkers to try and restore the Christmas spirit before the day is ruined forever.

I. HELPING WHOVILLE

The town is an interesting looking place with its unique architecture, bright colors swirling and curving about that it make it look like it could be made of cake or candy instead. It's supposed to be adorned with all manner of Christmas decorations and lights, and yet all of it is missing and instead everything looks so drab and dreary, the colors faded and nary a carol sung. Its tree has also been stripped bare, the presents pilfered, and the much too big Christmas Star gone.

A. Gift Retrieval. The Grinch has scattered all of the presents and decorations throughout the surrounding forests and they need to be returned before Christmas is over. Dog sleds big enough to load up found presents are provided to be used, and the dogs will help track down presents. However, those who enter the forests should be cautious. While there aren't any huge threats, there are present mimics, monsters that pretend to be present boxes only to attack any who approach. They will also eat real presents, so be careful they don't reach the sled!

» BONUS: PRESENT DELIVERY. The last objective is to deliver the present to their rightful owners. However, it's possible the Grinch may have tampered the presents, and this will only be revealed upon opening. Players must RNG 0-5 to determine if the recipient likes the present or not.

» BONUS: SPECIAL PRESENTS. There are some special marked boxes that are guarded by present mimics. Get past them to retrieve the present. However, upon touching the box, it will disappear in a poof of orange and be replaced with a pumpkin pie that will help amplify one's dreamotion abilities if eaten.

B. Fixing Decorations. With broken ornaments and torn wreaths and ribbon everywhere, a massive cleanup is in order along with repairing and redecorating. While anyone good at crafts can help, positive emotions and dreamotion abilities will be key to help brighten everything from its current dreary atmosphere. Creative minds can help produce the necessary decorations while the athletic can figure out ways to bolster their skills to reach those high, hard to reach places. Another RNG for rating is here as the residents will judge their work.

» BONUS: JUDGMENT. Anyone can throw up decorations, but will it be to the residents' liking? Players must RNG 0-5 to determine what kind of rating their efforts receive.

» BONUS: CHRISTMAS STAR. The original Christmas star was smashed to bits so a new one is in order. Although anything can be used, the Whos do have some preferences on what can be used on the star, even if those materials may be hard to find. Rainbow crystals found in the forest will surely help give the start that glittery feeling; they prefer to have it gold; and it needs to illuminate on its own so some kind of light source is needed.

C. Christmas Carols. Carolers are doing their best, but everyone is stumbling over their verses and instruments are out of tune. A bit of positive reinforcement and Christmas cheer will help sort things out. Those who are musically inclined can lead the way by singing and even creating new songs to help inspire others.

» BONUS: A SPECIAL CHRISTMAS CAROL. In the designated thread, a new carol will be composed by the dreamwalkers. Each one will supply their own verse in response to the previous (click here for example). The thread is only for the verses, but there will be another thread where players can go ham for their characters to comment on the song as it goes on. Anyone can participate multiple times but must wait for another comment to be made first.

II. SANTA'S TOY FACTORY

Just beyond Whoville with just the Winter Forest to separate them is one of Santa's toy factories. It, too, has been attacked and smoke rises from the damaged buildings. With machines malfunctioning, toys are running rampant and everything is chaotic. If not fixed soon, there will not be enough toys for Santa to deliver.

A. Elf Rescue. The Grinch not only stole the presents and destroyed the toys, but they also sabotaged the machines running the factor. Now elves are trapped inside and are in desperate need of rescuing as toys malfunction and start to turn on them. The machines are even trying to box up the elves as gifts instead! Behaving similar to the present mimics, boxes, wrapping paper, and ribbon bounce around in search of anything to wrap up. Dreamwalkers must venture in to try to turn off the machines and rescue the elves without getting turned into a present themselves. The more elves rescued, the more allies gained to fix the factory and more favor earned from Santa.

B. Reindeer Games. The reindeer have been scattered all over and the only way to bring them back is to attract them with fun and games. In order to do so, dreamwalkers will transform into reindeer and will have additional abilities granted to them, such as flying and manipulating snow. As for what kind of games, they can choose from any of the following:

  • Ring Racing. High up in the air is a flying course with rings made of magical frost. Racers must pass through each ring to count, but they must fly quickly. As soon as they approach, the ring will start to contract, and if too late it will close and the racer will be disqualified.

  • Sleigh Pulling. This is a contest of strength! Sleighs will be piled high with presents and, if not enough presents are available, large rocks to weigh it down. Each reindeer must then try and pull their sleigh down a simple straight lane to the finish line. Just beware, rogue toys will appear on the track and will need to be dealt with somehow. There are no restrictions—each reindeer can use whatever ability or skill they can think of to help pull the overloaded sleigh. The contest can be 1v1 or 2v2.

  • Robot Reindeer. All the excitement does attract many of the reindeer back, but unexpected guests arrive as well—and they're not friendly. Sent by the Grinch, robotic reindeer will suddenly descend from the skies to ruin the festivities. It will be up to the dreamwalkers in their reindeer form to fight back against them—or try to convert them to help out instead.

C. Gingerbread Army. Giant gingerbread men occasionally appear and try to smash through the toy factory, hampering rescue efforts. Fortunately, they are only made of gingerbread and easy to fall apart. Unfortunately, they will not only regrow lost parts but grow from severed parts. Their weak point is the glowing gumdrop located among the many gumdrops on the body, and destroying it will destroy the gingerbread completely.

Who-ha Looks
[Well, that was something.

76 huffed a bit as he shook his head, a hand lifting to brush against antlers and ears flicking back, taking in his appearance from the reflection of a window in town. At least he was used to walking on hooves, that long and fluffy tail flicking behind him in mild irritation.

A hand smoothed over his beard, it a lot fluffier than last he looked-]

I just trimmed this damn thing, too.

[Mildly put, stepping back before taking a better look around.

May as well figure the best way to get ground covered in what had to happen here.]

Decorate...?
[76 wasn't much for decoration, but he was tall and he could lift someone up easily if the could mind the antlers on his head. Hell, those could act as a nice sort of handle if someone needed to get up high enough to stand on his shoulders.

An ear flicked, head tilted, some little bell hooked on to one of those antlers and jingling every time he tried to either reach it or shake it loose.

Ugh. Fuck this.]

Retrieval Threats
Watch your feet!

[There was a gaggle of mimics rushing through the snow, and there was only so much warning that could be given before they all slammed up in to a sudden wall of twisting flame and shadow. Screeching as ribbons burned and flopping about in the snow to be put out.

They'd been rushing towards a few presents already bundled up in a sleigh. His own hooves helping 76 rush through the snow himself, shadows coiled around lower legs as he snatched up snow in a clawed hand. Swirls of light and ice enveloping that ball of snow as he flung it and

Well that was an explosion of ice not only ripping through one of the mimics, but the light stunned the others.]

Give me a hand here, there's more of them coming!

[Weird fight, but it was a fight nonetheless.]

Toy Factory Rescue
[Wasn't that difficult to find the workshop once hitting the forest, walking through the snow and following the sight and scent of smoke.

An ear flicked at the sounds inside. Distressed elves, malfunctioning machines-]

This is going to be a pain in the ass. [Yet 76 was already pushing further within, shadows pooling in to his own and sticking close, a few shimmering patterns resembling snowflakes floating through it every now and again.]

[Deck The Halls With Boughs of Holly]

[Ira has found himself on the rooftop of a house, a pile of lights beside him and a bit of a mood going. They are supposed to be bringing good cheer to this place, but it's a little hard when his appearance has been changed yet again, and it's a little cold. And the lights won't stop tangling themselves up. He only just got on this roof and he's tired.

He stands out on the room, his usually white and gold mask, now a bright red and green for the holidays and a pair of gold reindeer antlers shining off his head. He's a bit of a mess as he wraps the lights around the chimney, trying not to slip off the oddly sloped roof.

Although one foot does drop, leaving Ira hanging gamely on to the chimney, trying to pull himself back up.]

[Like Monopoly]

A.

This is a little undignified. The antlers were one thing, but to be the creature entirely is a whole other situation. Ira looks a little awkward as he adjusts to the new form, stumbling with what seems to be every other step. Four legs seems a lot more complicated than two. And he'd seen others flying? He's not sure if he's ready to try that if he can't even move on the ground.

He does, however, cut a bit of a dashing figure. Tall for a reindeer, intimidating, with his large, golden antlers and speckles of blue throughout.]

How are you getting along with this?

B.

Eventually, however, Ira gets it. And once he manages to walk, running and flying don't take too much effort and he can at least move with a bit of grace. And it has made the other games fun, so Ira can't say he's thrilled when the games are interrupted.

Several of the robot reindeer have surrounded Ira, but he doesn't seem to concerned, instead charging forward to lock horns with one of the robots. Ira stands his ground and throws the robot into another one, before bucking forward to kick one coming up behind him.]

Is everyone alright?

[Christmas isn't just getting too Commercial, It's getting too Violent]

[What had started as a fun dream always seems to turn into a nightmare. But thankfully, not one that is going to paralyze Ira. These, these are creatures he can handle.

Keyblade out, he jump up, slashing at a leg to destabilize the gingerbread man before whirling around to deliver another blow and knock it down. Ira's victory is short-lived, however. The one he knocked down, staggers up again, it's wounds closing and a second creature coming to life from the severed leg. It would probably be horrifying if it weren't a cookie.

And Ira might be in trouble.]

[I-A. Special Delivery!]

[She wasn't very good with the whole sled dog thing! She could pet a dog, snuggle a dog, but not really direct them in a manner that could pull a sleigh. So she foolishly took a sack with her to collect lost presents, and was trying to hitchhike her way back from the forest to check over her haul.

You're coming up fast with your sled. Do you risk taking this hitchhiker who is waving and trying to grab your attention, or are you afraid of getting stabbed or something?]

[I-B. Deck ALL the Halls!]

[Madhuri stood back and lifted her hands, forming a frame that she would peer through. One cute little who cottage was decorated with care, covered from head to toe in sparkling lights.]

Hmm... something's missing, though. It drips enough, but I want to feel warmth from these lights. Maybe a change of color...?

[She turned her head.]

What do you think? I could use a fresh pair of eyes.

[I-C. Vocal Warmups]

[No matter how much she tuned in with her horns, she just couldn't get that beat and those instruments were just too sharp, or just too flat. Why, it was no wonder that the mood was tanking...! But these folk were doing their best. Perhaps they needed a little encouragement. ...Or she could handle it!

As the night continued, the air seemed to grow lighter. The falling snow seemed to twirl, entering slow spirals on their way down. The lights had begun to grow. On the breeze was the smell of fir trees, of peppermint and of a hint of chocolate.

The source was a group of carolers, upon further investigation. Backed by warmly-dressed, rosy-cheeked carolers who danced and sang along through the streets was the red-dressed Madhuri, eyes bearing an eerie glow as she led the parade through the morose Whoville. In their wake was warmth, color and more... perhaps even some toe-tapping from you. Whatever the case, this was a woman in her element.

Maybe you'll join in the song, or you have a request?]

[II-C. Army of Me]

Come along, little ones, keep going this way, lift those knees, hup hup...!

[This was a mess. Elves stuck in the machinery, wrapped up in ribbons... the poor little guys needed all the help they could get. But once she'd managed to get a number of them freed and assembled to get to safety, there was a low roar and a rumble.

Stomping along like something out of an old monster movie, a very tasty-looking yet very aggressive gingerbread giant didn't seem impressed with the goings-on. Eager to stomp on some elves and this weird not-elf, it began to give chase. She turned to anyone nearby-]

I could use a minute, if you could spare one...! Please, let me just get them out of here and I'll rejoin you shortly!

[She could escort or fight, but not both. Especially not with Christmas at stake! All the best food came from it!]

[X. The D-word (Closed to G'raha, set post-Dreamscape)]

[She enjoyed the little 'high' from a successful mission, especially one that was as productive as the last. But she was also relieved, knowing she still had time to run a gift over before anything else. Armed with a box all wrapped up in decorative ribbon, she set off.

Upon arrival, her senses tuned to sounds coming from inside. Oh, good, he was home! She knocked thrice, then took a moment to helplessly fuss over herself, flipping her hair back behind her shoulders, checking her bangs. Nervous? Her? No. Get outta here with that mess.

But she also checked the immediate vicinity for those little gumdrops. None around? She'd been stealthy? Good.]

[If there was one thing that G'raha knew, it was that Madhuri was crazy for Starlight time. He couldn't really blame her. He may not have the same experiences that she had, but after their conversation, it really made him think about what to get her as a gift.

One thing came to mind, but it hardly counted as a "gift" necessarily. As someone who's lived on a cheap diet as was the Sharlayan way, he admittedly had little to no culinary practice... up until recently. It was hardly a gift all by itself, but mayhap he could surprise her with dinner. Definitely as thanks for the time she made something for him and no other reason. If that wasn't enough, he had prepared a smaller gift just in case, but he had no idea if she would like it or not. Sitting in a small box wrapped in a bow off to the side was a necklace he had attempted to fashion together.

Hearing the knock at his door, he paused in his cooking. Dodos were not here, so he did his best to improvise for a proper Starlight dinner. It seemed to be cooking well enough, so stepping aside for the moment, he went to open the door after hearing the knocking.

And it just so happened to be the person he was trying to surprise. He just hoped that she wouldn't notice the food that was already out on the table and done.]

And you thought sweaters were tacky!
[ A dreamscape themed around Christmas was to be expected, given the apparent date. But he expected something more along the lines of a Christmas Carol, not whatever this is.

And what was he wearing?

That sure was an antler headband on his head, but everything else probably screams "elf." Not that he's entirely sure any self respecting elf would want to wear striped arm warmers and tights... And whatever's... Hanging off his neck under the hooded cloak...

Luca glances down at himself and pales... Okay, maybe no one will notice the golden chain on his neck if it's hidden under his cloak. Just... Try to ignore it. Focus on what's in front of him. ]

... Well! Looks like we'll have to start from scratch, won't we?

Gift Retrieval
[ Luca never thought he would find himself searching for presents on a dog sled, but he's been in stranger scenarios. He's able to fend off some of the present mimics through electrocution, but really he's better with recovering presents than combat. ]

I do hope the boxes aren't getting too soaked... [ Luca mutters to himself as he brushes the snow off one such present. Onto the sled it goes. He's about to hop in himself when he spots a peculiar gathering in the distance. ]

Hang on. I think I see a bunch of presents over there. Around... One odd present?

[ Those are mimics and one of those specially marked presents. Too far away for him to see that clearly. ]

Factory Repairs!
[ Beneath all the chaos and wrapping paper lies a task that Luca is more than eager to take on. You'll find him in the factory for most of the night, crawling into disabled machines with a toolbox in tow, even chuckling to himself a little as he finds more mechanical mishaps in need of fixing. ]

Ah! That Grinch fellow did a number on this one! [ He's got the access panel off one of the machines so he could get a better look at the insides. He doesn't seem to be paying attention to anything else around him... He's even blindly reaching out behind him. ] Hand me a screwdriver, would you?

Rescuing... Elves?
[ Of course, one can get into a lot of trouble if they're not paying attention to one's surroundings.

Case in point, a box crept up behind poor Luca and practically gobbled him up. ]

AAH! [ The lid snaps shut, and the box is quickly wrapped up in blue and gold paper while the victim struggles to free himself. ] WHAT THE?! Oh no. [ He's tapping- No, he's banging on the sides. ] HELLO?! SOMEONE HELP! I'M STUCK!

[ If anyone could go open the big shaking present, that would be nice. ]

Oh. Those sure are electric lights on a string! He wanders over to get a better look. ]

Fascinating... [ Glancing back at the purple haired woman. ]
If you're looking for warmth, I would suggest a more yellowish color for the lights. Though... [ Glancing back at the lights, gently lifting one up with his finger. ] Are they meant to be flashing like this? I thought all the bulbs were flickering out at first, but this seems too coordinated to be an electrical malfunction.

She brightened up and gave a half-curtsy, box balanced on the other hand.]

Hello! Happy Starlight-smas! I figured I'd drop by and hand off your gift. Boy, that Whoville place came at a real good time, didn't it? Right smack-dab in the middle of... things...

Yellow... of course! Everything around here is so white, and yellow would make a warmer glow.

[But she grinned.]

The best lights are ones that twinkle, dear, like the building is dripping with stars plucked from the sky! Which reminds me... does anyone have a lead on a replacement star for that sad old tree in the square? The Whos said they wanted gold, but I left my prospecting pants in my other armoire.

[ Susato also quickly noticed the mimics closing in on the sled, and is quick to heed his warning when she hears it, somehow making it look graceful when she jumps to the side and out of the way. Luckily, the Christmas elf costume she'd been stuck in for this dreamscape had not replaced her trusty black boots, even though it had replaced everything else. She lands and quickly turns around, just in time to shield her eyes from the explosion of light and ice that followed.

And it wasn't over.

Luckily, Susato has had some training now--or maybe it all comes a bit easier to her within the dreamscape, she doesn't have time to think about it. Either way, she is plenty irritated enough at what she feels is her sleep being interrupted, on such an important night.

Her hands become engulfed in flames, and she takes aim at two mimics that appeared to be recovering quickly from the blast. As the fireballs hit, their ribbons caught first, sending the hot flames into what appeared to be their mouths in an instant. They shriveled up simultaneously into ash, and she takes a moment to watch for any more of them that may pop out of the ruin. ]

[Gold was definitely dense and would make the tree top sag. But his remark about framework and glass... he might be on to something. The who that turned the corner and saw their home all lit up was in shock, eyes slowly widening to the size of saucers. Her hands went to her mouth.]

Can't say I ever worked with glass, much less coloring it. But maybe we should check the woods, after... haha... after this woman has a moment.

[She smiled, nodded to them.]

Your home's all done, dear. Go get your family and enjoy your holiday; we'll take things from here.

[They breathlessly hurried to do so. Madhuri's eyes hardened with determination.]

Gift Retrieval
(As soon as she arrives at Whoville, Anya has very little time to react the damages the Grinch has done onto the town as she volunteers to find the presents. What’s more is that she finds herself wearing an outfit that’s different from the kimono she had worn two months ago. It’s not that terrible, she looks really nice in it, though the tights' pattern is not something she is familiar with.

But she doesn’t want to think too much about it for now as she heads to the forest with Pooka to find the gifts and she also has to watch out for any danger while she is in there. As she tries to gather up the missing gifts, she can see that the present mimics are hopping after her and Pooka who is barking at them in an irritated voice.)

Oh no, you don’t!

(She then raises her hand to freeze the mimics into blocks of ice before she looks around to see if there is anymore mimics in the area and then turns to another dreamwalker who happens to be near by where she froze up the mimics.)

Wow! I can’t believe that finding a difference between normal presents and present mimics is going to be a lot harder than I am anticipating. We need a better plan to separate them more clearly.

Decking the Halls
(While she is not busy finding gifts and delivering them back to Whoville, the Grand Duchess is assisting in decorating as she carefully sews up pine garlands in the town plaza with the help of her fond memories of Christmas past before the curse and her dreamotion energy. She also weaves in string lights, dried pine cones, strips of plaid and gold transparent ribbons, and wooden star beads to it.

Hoping to get some feedback on how she did, she turns to the dreamwalker next to her, hoping if what she did is good enough or she needs improvement.)

Hey, do you have anything to say for this garland I just made? Any suggestion that I can use?

Army of Gingerbread
(If dealing with Rasputin’s attempts to destroy her and her family was bad enough, this is nothing compared to the throngs of evil gingerbread soldiers trying to break into the toy factory. Anya could’ve sworn that the gingerbread soldiers may have been made by the Grinch himself. The scene of them slowly making their way to the factory eerily reminds her of how the Reds breaking into Catherine Palace through some intervention by the green minions nearly 11 years ago now.

At first, she thought that she could slow down the gingerbread soldiers by making the floors very slippery with her ice magic, but no matter how hard she tries, they always come back to their feet as they draw closer. Anya knows that she has to switch plans for a moment to keep them at bay.)

Oh great, it looks like these oversized cookies can’t be stopped by iced down floors alone. I really need to change things up a bit. Should I try to channel a different element or something else?

Good aim! Keep frosty, not quite all of them—

[Was kicking up some snow as he moved, jingling a little as he did thanks to that bell hung around his neck. Didn't make much difference, catching a group of three mimics off-guard, a burst of light and shadow darting through the snow along with another ball of it. The explosion flung the mimics upwards, tumbling through the air as ribbons did slice through a bit.]

Gift Retrieval + Delivery
[ Mimics crowd around the dogsled that you have used to enter the forest, and while Somnus himself hadn't ridden it (because who would be cruel enough to subject dogs to pull a giant suit of armor?), he remains at the ready, blade drawn and poised for combat. The present-monsters bounce and bellow and hiss at those who would take their trove, barring their jagged teeth and guarding the stolen gifts behind them.

When he speaks, his voice rattles deeply within the hollow metal of his armor.  ]

Let us be done with this.

[ They come. ]

Fixing Decorations
A. [  Of the pile of ruined stars, wreathes, bulbs, lights, and bows set out on a table, he reaches for one of the stars, then another, then another, and another, until there are eight total. These, he arranges equally spaced upon a large wreath. The design suggests that, for whatever reason for this giant suit of armor, these are where the stars are supposed to be rather than atop the trees themselves. By the time he's finished with the wreath, the decorations upon it seem to carry a shine that hadn't been there before, subtle like the faintest constellation in the sky, a faded glory... a positive dreamotion effect, perhaps, evoked from the art of crafting?

Thus he concludes, murmuring: ]
Thus do dreams shine in the night.

B. [  The buildings may be tall, but there is one (relatively) recently arrived resident of Songerein who is at the perfect height to help re-hang up decorations. Perhaps you need assistance reaching a roof awning or fastening. He can help by lifting you up, but you'll have to ask him for such help, first! Or maybe you're already atop a ladder, but it's rather unstable, in which case, he'll either catch you before you fall or support the base itself. ]

Mistletoe Gumpdrops[Backdated to pre-event, Outside of the Dreamscape cuz i didn't put up a log]
[ Congrats, you're trapped beneath one of the mistletoe gumpdrops with this giant suit of armor! Open to "fluff", "make it shippy", or "mistlefoe" varieties. ]

His helm inclines in your direction. While no face is visible beneath the shadow of his visor, it can be assumed he's regarding you steadily. ]

These creatures... What is our task?

In the shadows we can build a snowman
To protect the sleigh that's full and bright.
Mimics will attack, and we'll say, "No, man!"
Only the real presents here will do!

The RNG gods have smiled on us.

[ Goodness... That sure was a reaction from the Who there. Luca can't help but smile. ]

Heh heh. I'm sure she enjoys all the new decorations.

[ He pauses to see the Who woman off before he regards his companion with a cheeky grin. ] Well then! I may not have experience in glasswork, but that won't stop me from trying. Lead the way!

[ Her hat jingled too, she didn't pay it any mind. She trailed behind him quickly, spotting the three mimics in the distance, but he got to them first. She watches as another explosion sends them sailing through the air, thinking that would be the end of them, but when he calls for clean up, she gasps.

Shitshitshit. She has to think, but then she just doesn't.

Picture it. Imagine it. You are literally in a dreamscape, your imagination is the limit.

Susato quickly forms two Ls with her fingers in both hands to represent "guns," takes aim with one, and shoots a ball of fire at a mimic as it falls. When that actually works, to her amazement, she follows up with two more shots. The mimics burn as they fall, sizzling out when they reach the snow on the ground.

What the hell. Is she actually doing this? ]

We'll raise our mugs to the fire
Raise our voices higher and higher
Then we'll slash through our foes
From head down to their toes
All to save this Christmas Wonderland

[Honestly? Was quick thinking even if there was just a moment of hesitation, one most likely wouldn't have noticed.

There was a skid of some ice hidden under snow, but hooves kept him from going to far, taking the momentum to his own advantage to make sure the area was clear. Waiting a moment as there was silence other than what was left of mimics roasting in the snow. With a slow breath he stood straight, shoulders rolling.]

Good job.

[Of course those ears of his were still on the swivel, eyes roaming a little as his guard kept up. On alert.]

You alright? Came a little out of nowhere. [Mildly apologetic about that but... well. Wasn't fully over yet, but there as time to breathe.]
allegedprisoner: (Do you see what we've done?)

He's trying.

Erm...In the city we can make some string lights
Beautiful and bright just like the stars...
With a little magic, we'll be alright...
... And top everything off with just a... Star?

[Oh! A gift! Accepting the gift with pleasant surprise, he gave a smile in response.]

Oh, thank you. I wasn't expecting anything. [And then it made him think of the one he had for her.] Actually, I do have something for you as well. I should go and--

[She noticed. Not that it was hard to tell with the scent. There was no point in hiding it now. Sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck, he opened the door further and stepped aside, gesturing her to come inside; especially with it being chilly out.]

Ah, well... Actually... [Oh. How do you admit you were trying to surprise her with a nice dinner?] Starlight dinner. Or the best I could find here that works for it. I uh... I was actually going to invite you over once it was done...

[The present. A perfect time to turn to hide his warm cheeks. He'll just walk over to retrieve the small box to give to her.]

[ Help us make a carol, said the whos. It will be fun, said the whos. Luca didn't mind joining in to help fix things. Not at all. It's just that he forgot to take into account one small detail-

He's never written lyrics in his life, especially not on the spot.

You can see why he's kind of embarrassed after his awkward attempt at a verse. If anyone needs him, he'll be slinking off to the side, quietly hanging some nearby decorations and trying not to humiliate himself further. ]
