[The man shakes his head dismissively, in a way that makes it seem like he's resisting the urge to roll his eyes. As if he would be bothered.]

Quite painful—I only regret I didn't foresee it. But then... nothing in this horrid world is perfect, no matter how long I've planned.

[And how long must Rion have been at this? Ferran may never know, he thinks.]

I simply have no interest in inflicting unnecessary suffering... even if some level of it has been required. It's a waste.
