fourth shot ⊗ open january log + interactive dream
Who: Anyone!
Which: Open January Log
Where: Dreamscape; various locations in and out of town
What: Corgis are free!! and trying out dogsledding; making reindeer work; two interactive dreams
Warnings: violence, graphic implications, and death in the nightmare one
⊗ a: corgis and dogsledding
[1. Corgis are Free Announcement. Early in the month, Eustace will send out a quick journal message informing everyone of the spell's success.]
[2. Corgi Sledding? Eustace can be found around town with all seven corgis, letting them roam and wander a bit. However they seem to be well trained and disciplined, always maintaining a kind of group formation and the older ones herding the younger back if they stray too far. It makes it easy for Eustace to just hang back and supervise. They'll also visit the flower dogs, and what a ruckus that will cause as the dogs play with each other with gusto. It might get a little noisy, at times, oops.
But after hearing about the dogsled outpost, Eustace will take the small floofs over and... Well, after some arranging, two teams have formed and people might want to clear off the roads as the corgis race against each other.]

[They certainly seem to be having a jolly time, though sometimes they don't pay attention and spray up a lot of snow or struggle in stopping so the dogs may end up bumping into things. They're fine though! They're c o r g i t u f f.
Eustace, on the other hand, will be running a hand down his face with grimace.]
...Maybe this wasn't such a good idea...
[He'll be quick to check if anyone is hurt as well as clean up any mess they leave behind.
Though if anyone wants to be pulled by the corgis, they will take on the challenge!!]
⊗ b: quest 104: freeloading reindeer
[Having suffered experienced what it was like to be a reindeer, Eustace has some sympathy for them. However that doesn't mean they can go wherever they please, so he'll help pitch in with some of the construction work or herd some of the reindeer to temporary pens until the new stables are finished.
1. Reindeer work. Of course, he's not going to let them just loaf around for free, either. To whoever is nearby—]
Grab that harness. We need to bring over some more wood so we'll use one of the reindeer and carts to carry it over.
[At least the reindeer like pulling things so it shouldn't be too difficult. The real problem will be when the reindeer get distracted or see others pulling sleds and get competitive.]
⊗ c: childhood nightmares
[Dreams of the past still occur every now and then, but winter has always been the time when they return the most. He had been fortunate to not only be too busy to think about it, but also the few times he had them none have appeared through the crystals or been intruded on. But Eustace knew it was bound to happen one day... He would just later wish it wouldn't be so visceral.
1. Flames of the Past. The following is an interactive dream with the beginning viewable via crystal that others can watch before dreamwalking in. Otherwise, it can be an accidental entry. It's a nightmare of his childhood and contains graphic references to how his home village was destroyed. While in the dream, Eustace will be a small boy of about nine to ten years old. Those who have met Eustace can notice how as a boy his hair covers the left side of his face instead of how he currently covers the right. For the most part he won't be aware he's dreaming, but if he does come to realize it he may revert back to his adult form.]
[To anyone else they will be able to see the monsters true form, but for Eustace he can only see his family and is frozen in tears, an ominous black mist rising around him as his guilt ridden anguish escalates and starts to warp the nightmare even further. Help by destroying the monsters and get him out of the village. The monsters themselves, although powerful looking, are only minor noctaere that can be defeated. Though if left alone for too long, they will feed off the dark mist rising from Eustace and grow stronger.
2. Fighting Back. After a few iterations of having that nightmare, Eustace will willingly recreate it for another interactive dream, but this time he will maintain his adult form and face the monsters—Otherworldly Beings—head on. He's mostly not affected whenever the form takes on those he remembers, including his family members, since he knows the truth and that helps ground him. But there are still times when he's shaken, some of that vulnerability coming to light when it shouldn't. He needs to move past this. And if this world is going to manipulate his dreams, he'll take back control with his own hands.
So with the exact same setting of his devastated home with the Otherworldly Beings roaming through, armed with his faithful weapon he sets out to eliminate them all, firing intense bolts of lightning as he focuses on harnessing his dreamotion energy.
He's done this before...he can do it again. But he's not invulnerable, at times wavering or occasionally overwhelmed. Although he doesn't necessarily want anyone to intrude on his "exercise," he will come to appreciate the aid all the same.
Just don't judge him too harshly if at first he points his gun at any who dreamwalk in, his first instinct to eliminate any intruders and, because of the nature of the Otherworldly Beings and his nightmare, doubting them at first.]

To everyone who assisted in gathering the ingredients for the corgis last month, it was a success. All seven are able to run outside freely, so I wish to thank everyone who helped in this endeavor. Should you ever need assistance I will return the favor.
As for the corgis, they are adapting and will appear in town on occasion. However they must wear a special collar until their bodies adjust to this world. Should you ever find one of the corgis without a collar and looking sick, return them to the tree immediately or contact me and I will assist.

Those who enter the dream will find themselves in the middle of the woods with thick snow all around. In the distance they will hear the sound of a young boy calling a name.
"Vitty! Hey, Vitty where are you!"
It sounds innocent enough, like a child calling out to find a friend. But that sense of peaceful innocence changes when there's a blinding flash of light followed by a loud, defeaning explosion and a shockwave that would knock anyone off their feet. The heat can be felt even from the distance, and everything is deathly silent before sound returns and the voice screams out.
"MOM! DAD!"
A white blur will pass by, tugging at them to chase after the voice as the boy emerges from the trees and runs towards where smoke and flames slowly rise in the distance. Following the boy will lead them to a gruesome sight: a small village in flames, buildings destroyed as if blown away, dismembered bodies unrecognizable and strewn about. Even in the dream the intense heat manages to overwhelm the biting cold, the rancid scents overwhelming. It's clear there are no survivors, but the boy, enduring the pain from burn marks around the right side of his face near his eye, continues to run while shouting for his family, only to stop where a house clearly once stood but nothing remains, only ash. Seeing it, he can only stand there wordlessly in shock.
But as he does, black ooze starts to rise up from the corpses like ghosts, contorting and at times looking more like monsters that slowly move after him.
"You lived....why did we die and you survive?"
Hearing the voices, the boy now able to be recognized as Eustace turns and falls backwards with a small cry.
"Ah...no... Mom... Dad... Sisters... Savini... No... I didn't... I don't want..."
As the creatures slowly begin to converge, he breaks into sobs as he covers his face with his hands.
"I didn't want to be the only one!! I didn't want to be left alone!!"
[To anyone else they will be able to see the monsters true form, but for Eustace he can only see his family and is frozen in tears, an ominous black mist rising around him as his guilt ridden anguish escalates and starts to warp the nightmare even further.
