Nice to meet you. My name's Nier. Just thought I should mention there's someone else here with the same name. He's much older than I am and that might be a little confusing. We're different people so I need to make that clear.
Anyway, there's a question that's been on my mind for some time now.
Do you think it's ever okay to tell a lie? I'd like to hear some thoughts because I sometimes wonder if the nightmares here are lies and illusions. They seem so real but sometimes they just aren't.
Back in my world there's something called the Deathdream and I don't know if anyone else has heard of that term before either.
Action Open
[Outside Nier can be found with a tool in hand. There's a toolbox nearby along with several logs of wood just lying around. He's busy trying to build a fence for the gardens. What he really wants to do is help the Corgis in what way he can. He spent most of his life growing up in a smaller village so it was necessary for him to learn various tools of the trade.
Beside him there's also a small patch of flowers growing by the soil bed. If you don't look too busy Nier might look over to your direction and start talking more.]
Do you have a moment? I could use some help watering the plants.

Good to see you again, Susato!! There's a lot of work for us to do today. I hope you've been well.
[Nier is trying to walk carefully around the area because there are a bunch of snare traps just lying around. It could be dangerous.]
So someone really did just left a bunch of traps outside. We need to do something about that. I'm going to do my best and see what we can accomplish today.

[It was hard for him. It was hard for everyone. There's no mistake about it. They didn't live in a kind world. It was often merciless and brutal. What kept young Nier going this entire time were thoughts of revenge and anger against the very Shades that tormented them. ]
Isn't the Shadowlord the reason why you didn't see her for five years? [He has nothing but contempt for the Shadowlord. ]

[Literally. It's literally the same thing. Kind of. Close enough that any differences are minute and restricted to personal experience. Just like it would be for anyone else. Old Man isn't about to start trying to pin down what's 'worse' or what's 'better.' And to him, it's over and passed.
He does find himself nodding as Nier continues.]
Yeah. That's right. I tried to stop him, but... Just couldn't. [Too powerful, he supposes.] At least, not at that time.

[ Nier gets the feeling he's asking an uncomfortable question but he'd like to know. ]
The Shadowlord did all of these terrible things and I'll never forgive him for it. He's even hurt you.

[He shakes his head. He wishes he had all the answers. He doesn't In the end, he acquired the strength to go up against the Shadowlord, but five years prior, he had no chance.]
I thought you'd already gotten rid of him, honestly. Don't tell me he's still around in your world.
[Because by this point, though they've not really spoken deeply of it, Old Man has figured out they've definitely had different experiences. And it's enough to make him hesitate on sharing anything he's witnessed, if only because he doesn't want to colour anything his counterpart has been through. He's also aware that his actions are responsible for his experiences. Nier has had other experiences, likely as a result of different actions taken.]

[ Grimoire Noir was the other book that got mentioned in the song of the ancients. Nier doesn't really know too much about how it all works, but he can piece together things from what he's experienced so far. ]
I killed the Shadowlord, but it wasn't easy. My friends and my family suffered at the hands of the Shadowlord. With him gone maybe things will get better. That's what I'm hoping for.

[He shakes his head with a sigh. When he starts playing it all back in his head, it sounds so fantastical, like it belongs in a childrens' book. But it all really happened. Even he thinks he sounds a little crazy.
Nier yanks his attention to the very prominent, present moment. So he knows about all of this. And if he's killed the Shadowlord, chances are that he's experienced those five years in a similar fashion. He can't help wondering where all the questions are coming from. Maybe his counterpart is just doing research. Testing the old man to see what he knows. What he remembers.]
Well... I'd assume without the Shadowlord in power that there's no way to go from there except up. What you're telling me is you saved Yonah, right?
