Nice to meet you. My name's Nier. Just thought I should mention there's someone else here with the same name. He's much older than I am and that might be a little confusing. We're different people so I need to make that clear.

Anyway, there's a question that's been on my mind for some time now.

Do you think it's ever okay to tell a lie? I'd like to hear some thoughts because I sometimes wonder if the nightmares here are lies and illusions. They seem so real but sometimes they just aren't.

Back in my world there's something called the Deathdream and I don't know if anyone else has heard of that term before either.

[Outside Nier can be found with a tool in hand. There's a toolbox nearby along with several logs of wood just lying around. He's busy trying to build a fence for the gardens. What he really wants to do is help the Corgis in what way he can. He spent most of his life growing up in a smaller village so it was necessary for him to learn various tools of the trade. 

Beside him there's also a small patch of flowers growing by the soil bed. If you don't look too busy Nier might look over to your direction and start talking more.]

Do you have a moment? I could use some help watering the plants.

Good to see you again, Susato!! There's a lot of work for us to do today. I hope you've been well.

[Nier is trying to walk carefully around the area because there are a bunch of snare traps just lying around. It could be dangerous.]

So someone really did just left a bunch of traps outside. We need to do something about that. I'm going to do my best and see what we can accomplish today.

[ Susato has been putting in a lot of hours at the Wild Harvest, helping her father with the glowing dawn flowers, having strange dreams, and in general just having an exhausting time. She is more than happy to see a friendly face, however, so despite that, she's smiling at Nier, not wanting any of it to show. ]

The Dream board says they are almost impossible to get out of, but if there are innocent animals that are trapped... we have to try.

[ ...A slight hesitation. Even as she says that, she works at a restaurant where a lot of their food is obtained through hunting, so is this... sort of hypocritical of her?

She decides not to ponder on that, if it'll make things easier today. ]

I'd think that depends on the lie. People do that all the time without even thinking about it so you're going to have to be more specific. Are you talking about the lies that people tell others or the ones that they tell themselves?

After all a dream is, technically, just your subconscious. Thoughts and feelings are expressed in dreams, or so I've been told. When you keep that in mind, it isn't as if they're lies, exactly. Since nightmares are just dreams that have negative connotations...

I think you can see where I am going with that.

[It takes Hans a moment, but he definitely recognizes Nier from the nightmare he had just a month ago or so. It... honestly feels a little awkward, maybe even unnerving, to know that this young man witnessed some stuff that he really didn't want to share with anyone, definitely not in that detail at least.

But he offers a polite smile, pushing back his mixed feelings, before nodding slightly in response.]

Oh, I don't mind assisting you. I just need to water these plants, correct?

[Hans briefly wonders if he recognizes him in return. Maybe it's best to get that out before anything, but he'll let him react first.]

[It's nice to see that so many people have taken to the gardens. It had all started out as a seed of an idea with Sora, but now, it's grown into so much more than Tifa could ever have dreamed of. When she thought of it, she wanted it to be something that Aerith would be proud of if she ever had the chance to see it, and it's turned into exactly that quicker than she imagined it would. The fact that there are so many people around willing to help with it... It makes her heart swell with appreciation.

So of course when Nier calls out to her—Tifa always looks busy but she'll drop what she's doing anyway—she rushes over to help.]

You called just the right person.

[As she's already armed with a watering can that she shows off to him, as if it were a prize she'd just won, but she does pause to look around at the tools and wood that he has lying nearby.]

[Gardening isn't Kainé's first choice of outdoor activity, but while she's between odd jobs and looking to make herself useful, spending some time in the gardens seems as good a way to make use of her afternoon as any. Besides, she's not entirely without experience, having done her part to help her grandmother grow what little food they could when she was younger, and even if she isn't much of a gardener, she likes the end result well enough— there's a special place in her heart for flowers, even if she doesn't like to admit so openly.

She'd come by with the intention of seeing what needs doing, but it's not too surprising to find Nier here, as well. The Nier she'd known before coming to this place had a green thumb, too, and she offers this one a wry smile as she approaches the patch he's currently bent over.]

Sure, I can lend a hand. This is kind of like home, yeah?

[She's guessing that while he and the other Nier are different people, gardening was a life skill they had in common.]

As much as I'd like to say no-- I don't think lies are realistically something we can ever expect ourselves not to tell. Because it's not always something people do intentionally.

Or if they do their intentions can be good, even if the result is somewhat difficult.

[As if he needs to ask. The Old Man doesn't need much persuading to make for the flowerbed with watering can in hand. Just like old times, isn't it. Instead of it being Yonah watching him on days when the pain wasn't terrible, it's a young man who might as well be his son.

It's almost a frightening notion, that. Nier has to push it aside and he offers a sidelong glance to his younger counterpart.]

What's all the fencing for? I can help you with that, too.

[It's not even a case of asking if Nier needs help. It's simply within his nature to give it where he can. Anything is better than being idle here, it seems.]

[It's not unusual for Eustace to be around the area, so when he sees Nier working in the gardens, he remembers their conversation and walks over...only to be asked to help with watering the plants.]
