As per Eustace's suggestion, he thinks of magic he's familiar with: necromatic energy, ancient rituals, the powers his sword once afforded him. While he has few of this at his disposal in the moment, it still reminds him how those powers felt.
That's all and well.
It's the "warm feeling" part that gets him. He tries to think of what equivalent emotion he could conjure up that could work much in the same way as the one Eustace described (if he's reading into it correctly, that is), going through a catalogue of people and events in his mind, hoping something sticks, but nothing quite does.
Maybe it's the thinking part that's getting him. And so he abandons his thought process and concentrates on making himself happy.
