[ By most definitions of reckless, yes, Ori would consider Susato’s actions to have been reckless. However… When faced with such a desperation situation, she wouldn’t fault the young woman for her actions. She did what she felt she needed to do…

And for that, Ori is undeniably proud of Susato.

(Though she is, of course, very very glad that Beat was able to save her. She’s sure Kazuma is, too.)

The fact remains, however, that Susato shouldn’t have been put in that position in the first place. If they were only able to hold Eustace at bay better, then the others might not have had to step in at all. But Ori underestimated herself, and her own fears, and once Phantom and Beat departed to find the neckless - necessary of a task as it was - it inadvertently spelled the end for the rest of them. ]

I… That’s sweet of you to say, Susato, but… I know it may not look this way, but… I have a lot of experience with fighting. I know I could have done more. I didn’t, because I— I was afraid. But I should have known that hesitating would mean that others would get hurt.

[ She draws in a breath and sighs deeply. ]

I’m sorry to your boyfriend, too. I’m sure he was incredibly upset about what happened. But he has my word that if, gods forbid, we were in this situation again, I’m not going to let anything like that happen to you or anyone else.
