"They found my weak points, and exploited that." Funny how it took until the last five or six years of Overwatch for them to find it. Before then he'd been able to get up and out at times, or he remained behind the desk to allow new recruits a chance to shine- until there were far too many coffins when there shouldn't have been a chance of that happening. So many he had gone over, funerals he could and couldn't attend. Letters looked over, drafted— "Absolutely meaningless and hold no power," ungovernable and all that. Vigilante life saw to that.

He remembered that dream well. "Pulled each other open just about, and held close," in more than just the physical way. There'd been raw vulnerability in a way they'd both withheld and kept distance. "After that... things did change, yeah." Something had shifted between them that couldn't be denied- "There was a lot of something more than usual there. No distance being kept," emotionally.

"No forced dancing to proceed whatever happens when we do head back to the safehouse," even if they both knew what was going to be happening when they did head back.
