disdelusioned: (diluc023)

[The image of Crepus Ragnvindr holds the child more tightly, an action that hardly surprises Diluc. This is the man, after all, who took in Kaeya from the rain and raised him as family. And... maybe it's an expression of Diluc's own unexpected sympathy for what he's seeing here.

It's hard to ignore the child's words: "Aren't you supposed to protect kids like me, so that doesn't happen?" That sentence sums up much of why Diluc does what he does, and it's not something he expected the two of them to have in common. The difference lays in how they got there. Diluc jumped in headfirst, whereas Tartaglia was sent away to the Fatui, presumably after some life altering trip to some "dark place"...

For all of the Harbinger's talk of conquering the world and seeing the Tsaritsa's will done, seeing this vulnerable wrinkle in his personality and experiences is unexpected. And yet, it fits.]

Enough of this.

[Without hesitating or even checking to see how his partner in this place is faring, he charges in to tackle and restrain both of the apparitions. The three of them all fall to the ground in a heap.]
