Sadly, I don’t think most of my family is still alive now. There is me, my Grandmama, and maybe a few others, but everyone else, Alexei and our parents included, had died more than a decade ago.

(Anya could feel a heavy feeling weighing down on her heart as she speaks. Just imagine being 8 years old and having to see many family members being wiped out in one night and barely escaping with one’s life and losing one’s memory for the next 10 years.)

And it happened because a man my parents used to be friends with tried to get his revenge on us for ‘betraying’ him and cursed most of us in one night. Apparently he was originally brought in to help with Alexei’s disease before he let his true colors bothered my folks.
