[Each step becomes more agonizing and he has to wonder if he's making the wrong decision, that it really would be better to return to the tree to regain his strength and try again later. And the dogs... Their crying grates at him and for a feverish moment he turns around, yanking his arm from Tifa's grasp.]

No, wait—

[Is he talking to himself or Tifa?

But before he can try to bolt back, or before Tifa can try in case she also thinks he needs to go back, the oldest corgi suddenly jumps to the front of the group, coming as close as they ever have to the door, and barks loudly and harshly. It's not a bark to try and pull them back—it's aggressive, with low growls as if to ward them away.

It's enough to startle Eustace to see such hostility, but if Tifa looks closely, the dog looks momentarily sad, its ears lowering as it looks between the two before making eye contact with Tifa. It then barks again almost commanding.

Get him out! the message seems to say and Tifa might even hear something like a voice before there's more barking, now joined by the others as if realizing what their leader is trying to do.]
