[Leo grew up in Texas, so he knows pollen. He knows pollen very well. Living in the south was always miserable during pollen season, so this? While it's annoying, it's nothing he hasn't dealt with before.

If only he had water powers like Percy.

All the same, he does find it nice to see magical cleaning supplies around town. It's helpful to keep the pollen at bay, but it's also cool as hell, and he really wants to capture something to force it to help him keep his workshop clean.

He misses his siblings and camp, which became his family, but also because they helped him keep his life together and keep Bucker 9 clean. Living alone in his own workshop here has led to a lot of messes. His work was messy, and he just straight up kept forgetting to clean it.

So here he was, stalking one of the magical mops, ready to pounce when---

BAM. Fire!! The poor mop never stood a chance. It was sad, really.

Leo frowned, spinning around to find the source of the flames, only to spot Azula.]

Yooo, what are you doing???

NO WORRIES.

[She hadn't really been paying attention to him in her zeal to eliminate the irritating mop. Now, though, she looks him up and down with a skeptical raised eyebrow.]

Pest control. What were you doing?

Pest control. Dude, have you not thought about the possibilities??

[No one ever thinks about the possibilities he does! And why they scoff at it, or tell him he's crazy! They just didn't see the world the way he did. Their loss, really.]

It's difficult to think about possibilities when one of those irritating constructs is attempting to mop my face.

Then maybe you need to wash your face more? [why else would magic cleaning supplies be all in her face? He shrugs.]

But no, think about it! If we can catch them, we never have to clean our houses again!

[this is implying he cleans his house as it is. His workshop is a disaster, but there's no time for cleaning when you have a deadline to meet!!]

[She is supremely unimpressed by your suggestion, sir. Her voice takes on a venomous false sweetness.]

First, my hygiene is impeccable, when I'm not being aggressively besieged by pollen. Second, it's not that difficult to simply clean your own home. Even I can manage it, and I grew up with servants. Third, those things are an ill-behaved menace.

Okay, sure, keeping a house clean is one thing. But my workshop? That's another entirely. Grease and oil is such a pain to clean. [And he gets it literally everywhere, including all over him. At least he had Buford now to help with the laundry.]

I'm just saying, if we can tame them, then it'd stop them running around like crazy out here, and put them to good use. [he just hates cleaning, so sue him. Let him be a little lazy about one thing.]

I'm not sure what you think you can't do that an animated mop can.

[Still not impressed. But she's at least not doing the dangerous fake-nice voice anymore.]

If cleaning with manual labor is too much for you, just use dreamotion.

A magical mop, actually. [And why couldn't the mop do what he couldn't? Really, what it boiled down to was the time it would free up towards more tinkering.]

It's not the manual labor part that's too much, it's the time it takes! Imagine what I could make in all that time! We set sail on my ship in like two weeks and I have so much to get done still!

[then why were you chasing a magic mop instead of working, Valdez? Good question.]

Ahhh, you must be the master nautical engineer I had that charmingly semi-intelligible conversation with on the journals.

Well, I suppose that at least puts your unorthodox approach to cleanliness into perspective.

--- Oh? Did we talk on there? [listen there were so many people that replied, and he can barely read properly, so it's all a blur.]

But yeah! My ship's almost done, and it's just as awesome and badass as before! But imagine how much more badass I could make it if I didn't have to clean up my mess as I went!!

[It's just an obvious answer for efficiency!!]

If you're feeling this unmotivated to clean up after your inventions, it seems to me the least you could do is invent your own automated cleaning process.

Yeah, right. Like, what kind of ancient text is this? Let me having texting or facetiming, come on! [her snark goes completely over his head.]

See, that's what I'm trying to do! If I can catch some of these cleaning supplies, I can have a completely automated cleaning system in place! Then I can save my bronze and metals for making the really important stuff!

[She actually knows what those things are, thanks to her time in the city... a fact that only annoys her further.]

You do realize that just using dreamotion, as I suggested, would still be faster than wrangling wayward utensils.
