[Riku's so tired. most of his magical ability and any potions he'd had were way spent by now. but his shield still flickers against the onslaught of the attacks from Ansem.]

Once I...

[he swallows hard, tears pricking his vision. was this going to be one of the last times he sees Sora?]

You can't worry about me... my magic is going to fail soon.

[and then Ansem will be able to attack as he wishes.]

Go.

[oathkeeper]

No!

[Sora can't listen to a command like that?! When would he ever?!

... But just as Sora yelps that another flash of nightmare energy surges around them. This time it manages to swirl up like thick gaseous smoke and Sora's eyesight gets blurry.]

Riku! Vanitas!

[He suddenly can't see them. Everything is getting hazy. He can't breathe...

Sora collapses to the ground again. But he looks up to try and find Riku. Where is he? Somewhere in the haze, he can see the shape of ... someone?]

Riku?!

[retrieves]

[goddammit.

when he sees Sora get enveloped by the nightmare energy, he forces himself to his feet and lunges into it so that he could try to grab him.]

Get... up.

[he tries to force Sora back to his feet now, looking at the figure himself.]

You have to focus, Sora. You have to!

[and he'll be gripping his keyblade, standing in front of him because he has a feeling he knows who that figure is...]

[oathkeeper]

[If he feels Riku's hand grabbing him Sora's going to grab right back. Trying to pull himself to the other boy to support him just as much as Sora needs support. He gets to his feet with a wince.]

Riku! I'm not going to just leave you here! Look at you!

[Riku doesn't look good. There's so much blood and muck everywhere already. And in the shroud of dark swirling nightmare energy he knows that Ansem is just waiting for his chance to strike.]

"Foolish."

[retrieves]

Goddammit, Sora...

[he knows how stubborn Sora is, though. it's reflected in his own stubborness -- but it's not like he has to be happy about it.

he takes a deep breath then, searching out with his senses to see where Ansem was hiding. he has just enough time to realize where the man's going, and he makes an attempt to shove Sora to the side and move--

-- just in time for Ansem to drive his weapon into Riku's back.]
