A Scattered Dream that's Like a Far Off Memory
Who: Ira and you
Which: Interactive Dream; Open
Where: Various locations
What: Due to fallout during the StoryEater event, Ira is currently experiencing multiple sets of memories, wherein he remembers people, events, and locations as if he has truly experienced them. However, obviously, he hasn’t. If there’s something specific you want to do, please let me know at
urbaninja or PM so we can plot it out, or we can just play it by ear.
Destiny Island and Twilight Town can also be used as hub worlds that can move to other locations
Warnings: n/a but will update if necessary
[Destiny Island]
[Ira knows where he is.
He stands on a beach. The sky is a perfect pale blue, the sand practically white and warm and inviting to the touch. The ocean sparkles between them, green and blue in turn. Practically a paradise. He stands near a dock and in the distance, but not too far, is a small island. The green and brown of a jungle stand out against the blue sky. He’d played on that island as a kid, everyone had. It’s a familiar sight and brings a smile of nostalgic memories.
Of course, Ira’s never actually been here in his life. He knows of Destiny Islands now, courtesy of Sora but he has never actually been there. Which makes it all the more strange, with how vibrant this scene seems. The crunch of sand or gravel under a foot, the smell of salt in the air. It all seems real, and Ira seems to belong here. Though, there are times when the dirt path by the beach seems to appear as cobbled streets.
For now, he spends his time near the docks, repairing some of the boats that have come in. What do those kids do them?]
Looking to go out to the island?
[Twilight Town]
Ira knows where he is.
He stands on Station Plaza, looking out over Twilight Town. Behind him, the clocktower stands, and there’s the distant rumbles as trams pull into and out of the station. He can hear the sounds of the town as people come out in the evening to visit the bistro or see a movie. The whole image is cast in the soft glow of the setting sun.
Of course, Ira’s never actually been here in his life. He knows of it, somewhat, from Roxas, but he has never actually been there. The illusion isn’t as strong, and the light shifts every so often, moving from the warm glow of afternoon into the bright light of morning, but never for long. But it does make this dream seem a little more unstable. Though, Ira doesn’t seem to notice.
After a few more moments, he starts to make his way down to the Sandlot. He did say he would help with the Struggle games this evening.]
[The World of Memory - Wildcard Option]
[Ira knows where he is.
But the truth is he probably doesn’t. But he knows it nonetheless. Maybe you’ve told him about it, maybe you’ve dreamt about it, maybe you haven’t and he’s just picking up somehow. But he knows this place, and maybe he knows you. At least, he’s certain of that.]

Destiny Island
But standing on the beach with her feet dug partway into the sand and no recollection of having arrived there, Naminé feels quite certain that this is neither the real world nor any typical dream. The uncanny vibrance feels all too familiar, for it has so often formed under her pencils and crayons, under the magic imbued therein. There are only a few people she would expect to be capable of such a recollection, and yet...
When she turns and finds Ira hard at work on one of the well-loved boats normally tethered at the dock, Naminé feels a rush of concern. But her misgivings, she knows, are based too much on instinct; best to leave her worrying for once she has a handle on what, exactly, is going on here. Carefully, she approaches with crunching steps, mouth slightly downturned at the corners, and to his question answers automatically, ]
I was thinking about it.
[ She was, in fact, before lucidity struck her so directly. The blonde's eyes trail over the boat briefly, then swap toward the man himself. ]
Master Ira...
[ Despite the words themselves, her tone isn't accusatory. ]
What are you doing?
no subject
[But to answer the question, he gestures at the boat he's working on.]
Just a bit of a repair. Not quite a hole but getting there if it's not seen to.
no subject
It's kind of you to look after it for everyone. [ But why him? It feels like the sort of picture that should feature someone else, someone with more connection to the islands than she assumes he has. Has she been wrong this whole time about what worlds he might have visited? ] I didn't know you knew anything about boats.
no subject
[But at Namine's statement, Ira does freeze for a moment, a brief one. Does he know anything about boats? He must.]
Just a little. Enough for minor repairs.
no subject
Where did you learn about them?
no subject
[They do get a lot of wear and tear after all]
no subject
The kids do get into a lot of trouble. I can see why the other adults might need help keeping up.
[ A beat. ]
Have you been here long? Not... here with the boat, but - on the islands?
no subject
It's an odd sensation.
[Said with a slightly nervous laugh. Like he knows something's off, and expecting that admitting to it might cause trouble.]
no subject
Oh, dear. Her sudden attempt to school her expression into neutrality might not be comforting, despite her best efforts. There are still explanations for this that could negate her concern; considering the nature of dreams, perhaps he's merely sunk too far into this version of reality.
Pressing her mouth into a hesitant line, Naminé doesn't laugh along. She does, however, try to keep her voice gentle with her, ]
I can see how it would be.
[ There's a meaningful pause as she hesitates, then-- ]
So, then - this is the only home that you recall ever having?

Twilight Town
[It feels like so long, and yet as Roxas walks through the cobblestone streets of the golden-lit town, nostalgia stabs his heart harder than a Keyblade's strike. The sounds of the people, the gentle rumbling of the tram's wheels on the track, the lazy afternoon feel... it's like coming home, and as vivid and real as any dream of this quiet twilit world he's had before.]
[But this ISN'T his dream. That's what surprises him.]
[As he makes his way through the streets, Roxas will notice things about this dream; details looking fuzzy, buildings seemingly looking incomplete and hazy (until he approaches, in which case his own memories seem to strengthen their appearance a little). It's bizarre, and what makes him want to keep searching for the owner of this dream. And when he does eventually find someone else, it's a surprise as to who he meets.]
Master Ira?
no subject
Were you coming to play Struggle?
[It's definitely weird to see Ira there, acting like he's supposed to be. As far as he's concerned, he is.]
no subject
[It is completely weird, and the confusion is plain on Roxas's face.]
How do you know about Struggle??
no subject
I've been helping out at the sandlot. Surely we've seen each other there.
no subject
[Roxas's brow furrows, before he shakes his head.]
Ira... I thought you came from a different world. Uh... Daybreak Town? You're acting as though you've always come from Twilight Town instead.
no subject
I...I thought that I did. But, that can't be right...
no subject
Ira... are you alright? Why are you dreaming of Twilight Town?
no subject
[The word hangs between them for a moment as Ira searches for an answer.]
I don't know...I just. I feel like I remember it.
It seemed so clear.

he walks up to Ira, who was working on the boats. he tilts his head, before kneeling down next to him.]
You need a hand?
no subject
That would be appreciated. It's giving me a little more trouble than I thought.
no subject
Don't worry. I've fixed enough of these when we were growing up.
[he jams a broken side of the boat back in place, glancing around to see if there's anything to hold it for the time being...]
no subject
I remember. You were always eager to help.
[He believes what he's saying, but it's obviously not the truth.]
no subject
You're talking like you were there.
no subject
[Though, Ira does not sound confident in his response, and briefly, a shadow seems to cross over his face.]
no subject
Riku stays quiet for a moment, considering Ira as if trying to figure out if the other man was really okay.]
No... you weren't. We're from different times, remember?
no subject
Are you...certain about that? It feels like I've always been here.
