Second Spell [Open Log]
Who: Magilou and Magi-you?
Which: Open Log,one dream-related part
Where: Around town
What: A series of Dream Board shenanigans! Plummeting through portals, reasoning with owl-cats and dealing with a Baku!
Warnings: Include any content warnings
A. Flunking with Portals
[There's an unusual sight around town at the moment. It's hard not to notice a pair of black portals in the middle of town: one on the ground and one above it in the air.
Someone keeps on plummeting from the upper portal into the lower one, then coming right back through the upper portal again! All the while letting out a scream. Though the continuous scream starts to wind down as she gets used to the situation - and tries looking around for anyone who can help her out of this perpetual freefall.]
Little help?! [She shouts out at anyone nearby!]
B. Too Hoot To Handle
[Magilou's found herself stuck with an owl-cat. One that just won't let her sleep! She's tried giving it food, but it's just not satisfied. So she tries going out for a walk... only for the creature to keep on following her and making noise.
Someone else might be out at night, or stirred awake by the owl-cat's loud hooting. Or perhaps one will instead by awakened by Magilou knocking on their front door. It doesn't matter if she knows the person or not, she might just be knocking on random doors out of desperation. In any case, once she finds someone, the tired witch will gesture towards the hooting owl-cat with a fatigued groan.]
Make it stoooop....
C. Baku-Gone
[On other nights, when Magilou can sleep, she's been haunted by these strange dreams where the delightful parts fade away in favor of nightmares. After doing some research, she's learned that she might be haunted by a Baku. She'll have to dreamwalk into her own dreams in order to get rid of the monster before it consumes all of her positive and neutral dreams!
So here she is, stepping into her own dream, where she's putting on an elaborate magic show to an exuberant crowd of Normins! She's trying to keep her eyes peeled for any signs of the Baku, but it's hard not to just get caught up in the energy of the dream.]
We have a very special show for you all tonight! Now, let me call up my first volunteer~!
[She will gesture towards one person in the audience who is probably the only non-Normin creature around (unless they've transformed within the dream!). Now, Magilou hasn't told anyone else about this, not wanting to risk anyone seeing parts of her mind she wanted to keep private, but maybe someone else managed to stumble or dreamwalk into this dream anyway. After all, she'll need all the help she can get!]
D. Wildcard
[Feel free to come up with an alternate prompt or hit me up for plotting!]

[... which would mean she would fall right back into the portal, but details. He may have made this comment for exactly that reason.]
You didn't seem to be in any sort of danger while you were falling, as awkward as it may have been. Although I presume it taught you a few things about trying to open transfer gates.
[Since that's what he assumes she was attempting to do there.]
no subject
[His terminology is curious! She hasn't heard that one before.]
Hey now, I didn't open anything. It opened itself! And... transferred me!
no subject
[... now that's curious. Considering the amount of energy that's generally required to open a transfer gate or a transfer circle...]
You had no involvement in it whatsoever?
[Not that he doesn't believe it's possible, it's just decidedly odd. Then again, that could explain why the portal setup was... well, what it was, rather than something that was actually functional.]
no subject
[She offers that with a simple shrug, while in the process of standing from the mat onto solid ground again.]
I know - beautiful witch, magical portal, it's gotta be connected! Buuuut it's not. [For once!]
So it's a big mystery, huh? But I guess here in magical dream-land, sometimes things just happen!
no subject
[Then, because he's intrigued now that she's mentioned it:]
You're a witch? A magic user, in other words?
[While he knows of her, that knowledge is mostly limited to "one of the nexuses who hangs around with Ix and Mileena and the others." What she's actually capable of is still largely a mystery to him, so he's curious.]
no subject
Magilou smirks and spins a small paper doll above her hand.]
That's right! There's plenty of other words one could use for me. A mistress of magic, a beautiful arte-ist... Or just the great witch Magilou!
[She spins around with a dramatic flourish and releases some sparkles into the air!]
no subject
So I suppose it could be possible that an unintended interaction between dreamotion and your own powers could have triggered the gates to open. It can be... unpredictable at times.
no subject
Magic can combine in unpredictable ways. But being that unpredictable, for all I know, it could have been reacting to you in some way. Maybe you set me up for the fall! [She suggests lightly.]
no subject
I can concede that I can't rule that possibility out. But it seems unlikely considering that you had apparently managed to open the portal before I even arrived on the scene.
Not to downplay my abilities, but even I doubt that they have quite that much of a reach.
[... he thinks. Probably.]
no subject
Hey, don't be so down on yourself. I bet you could really ruin someone's day long distance if you really put your heart into it! Or your dreams?
[She gives a light shrug.]
Anyways, if anything like that caused it, you'd think it could close it too...! [She ponders.]
no subject
But now that she mentions that, he's curious. What's going to happen if he tries to reach out with a little bit of dreamotion and try to just tweak the portal on the bottom closed, he wonders...]
We'll find out.
no subject
Magilou watches as he gets to work, though she keeps her distance. Sorry, she doesn't quite want to go anywhere near that portal anytime soon.
But it does look like it's reacting to the dreamotion! The closest edge of the portal crackles and shrinks slightly.]
Wow, you might be onto something!
no subject
You try the same thing with the one on the top. Assuming you have enough control over dreamotion, that is.
[Is that a challenge? Maybe. Partially because he'd like to see if she's able to do it, too.]
no subject
Hey, you're dealing with a wonderful witch here! A mistress of magic! Making dreams come true is all just part of the everyday job!
[With that, she reluctantly looks up towards the portal and focuses. Most of her dreamotion practice has specifically been to recreate her artes here without Bienfu. Even so, she thinks she can mage the concept of closing a portal! She raises her arms as she channels the dream energy, and... it's hard to tell at first, as it's going at an even slower rather than Nuadha's, but it's starting to react.]
Here we go... Magikazam...! [She mutters a little weakly.]
no subject
Wouldn't closing this just be making your own dream come true?
[... okay, so maybe that was kind of a low blow there, but. He couldn't resist. Still, he'll behave himself and stay quiet after that so that she can concentrate, watching the upper portal intently to see it will respond to her attempts... and sure enough, at last it does, thought he does note that it seems to be closing more slowly than his.
Interesting.]
As I thought. Whatever caused these, dreamotion seems to be able to affect them.
no subject
Hey now, I'm sure there's plenty of people around here who dream of not getting caught in a situation like thws!
[She sighs. Then blows a lock of hair out of her face while getting back to work with her slow progress.]
At this point, I'd be surprised to find something that isn't affected by dreamotion~! [Magilou hums merrily.]
