[OPEN] Embark on Some Havoc
Who: Alastor and You!
Which: Depends on the prompt
Where: Depends on the prompt
What: An open log for October featuring Alastor at Reverein's new radio station teaching people how to use the equipment and properly present an audio-only broadcast. Also featuring him going dreamwalking and nightmare walking for anyone who wants him in your dreams without making a big open log yourself!
Warnings: It's Alastor, a demon from literal Hell. He's also a bit manic at the radio station and extra spooky with the dream/nightmare walking.

Reverein Radio
With the official opening of Reverein's new radio station, Alastor was doing his best to make sure that the radio wouldn't just be supplying static on every channel that wasn't his own frequency. Where was the fun in only one channel, after all? Besides, he and the native scientists had put an awful lot of work into making sure that the radio tower blended in with the local aesthetic rather than the ugly scaffolds of metal back where Alastor had come from.
Anyone looking for him would find him at the station, teaching anyone who made the mistake of asking about how to work the system. Alastor's passion was sound and radio, so his students might find themselves trapped for literal hours.
The interior of the station was a real puzzle to get through: twisting corridors and rooms specially-designed to keep all outside noise from getting picked up by hot mics. The idea was to keep noisy foot traffic from interfering with a broadcast, but at least there was always some native who'd decided to work permanently there to guide anyone around.
At the moment, Alastor was at one of the soundboards, watching one of his "students" going through a basic sound check while another worked the board. He himself held one of the speakers of a headset up to one of his ears as he watched and listened intently. Though at someone's approach, he'd leave the booth to practically skip over to them.
Dreamwalking/Nightmare Walking
Perhaps it was because it was October that even the pleasant dreams he wandered into had a misty, spooky bent to them. As a demon, Alastor blended in well with the overall atmosphere.
Humming to himself, he made his way through the mists as he searched for the bulk of the dream if not the dreamer themselves.

He cackled as he unleashed more fire on it, eldritch symbols dancing in the flames. He's not going in for the kill. Not yet. No, he wants to see it suffer just because he can.

The Ungoliant is enraged and hurt to the point that she is far beyond words by this point. She shrieks at Alastor, jaws wide and dripping poisonous ichor that sizzle and burn as it hits the stone floor.
The smell of her burning flesh stinks worse than a putrifying corpse, acrid and cloying as it sticks in your throat and nostrils. But even though she is burned and wounded she wont stop coming at the object of her ire. Belching out unlight and poison in her wake as she tries to bite and tear at him.

He hummed along with a jazzy tune as he systematically injured her with flame and claws before teleporting away before she could properly retaliate. He took his time, enjoying the screeches of pain. Sooner or later she'd reach a point where she couldn't fight back anymore. Only then would he finish her off.

The great spidershaped thing that is the Ungoliant is starting to realize she might have picked a fight that is beyond her. Or at least beyond this conjured up dream of the memory of her. She hisses and makes one last swipe at him before skittering backwards as fast as she can. Hatred and a bit of fear shining in the dark pits that are her eyes.

"You've already had enough, darling? Pity. I was having fun."
He glanced over his shoulder at the elf.
"Would you like to do the honors or shall I?"
no subject
Maedhros does not want to get in the way of either of these beings, Alastor had not seemed like much to him at first but he sees now that he could be a very real threat if he wished to be. And he has not exactly been in the bestt form even before he jumped to his death and ended up in this place, so he simply shakes his head.
"I will be more hinderance than help... do as you wish."
no subject
Alastor gave a bit of a bow. "Then I'll be back momentarily!"
He disappeared into the darkness. It was for the best that the elf couldn't see what he was doing. At least it was quick...though it might lead one to wonder if nightmares could have nightmares of their own.
no subject
Thankfully the demon didn't exactly seem inclined to hurt him, has even been somewhat polite even. He was very confusing to the poor elf who simply inclined his head politely in return. "I wish you luck on your hunt," he says weakly as an afterthought.
Maedhros was certainly thankful he didn't have to see what came next, he hadn't really wanted to see or hear what he already had, but... he was also somewhat thankful for the demons intervention. It might not have been an altruistic act on his part, but it had been helpful nonetheless.
no subject
"There. That should buy you at least one night without her skitting around in the dark." He darkly chuckled. "She was certainly ill-prepared for someone like me."
He neatly folded up the handkerchief and slipped it back in his pocket.
"Apologies, but in all the excitement I appear to have neglected the social niceties." He held out his hand. "Alastor! Pleasure to meet you! Quite a pleasure!"
no subject
"...You have my thanks for it." He says cautiously, though no less sincere for it. "It seems she was. And probably a good thing that she was'nt prepared to deal with someone of your talents either, I would think."
"It is no matter," he says as he takes the offered hand. "Maedhros Fëanorion. Well met, Alastor, and my thanks for your aid once again."
no subject
Because that was what it was to him: playing. Taking on things bigger and meaner than him was fun.
"Now I wouldn't count on me showing up every time she stops by!" His grin widened as he released Maedhros's hand, waggling a finger. "I don't need much in the way of sleep so usually I dreamwalk to kill time until everyone's awake. Though I can only imagine her fear if you dreamt up an image of me! Do nightmares have nightmares, I wonder?"
no subject
Or perhaps because he's not entirely unused to people with that sort of mentality. Though this person seems more capable of actually backing up his insane bravado.
"Ah... I wasn't planning on counting on it," he says a bit taken aback. "It seems an unreasonable thing to expect from someone. I don't need much sleep either, honestly, certainly not as much as humans seem to need, at least." Now that is an interesting contemplation. Can nightmares have nightmares? "Hmm? I don't rightly know if it's possible. It is an interesting question, though, the mind is a complex thing and who knows how deep your subcouncious mind can go? Might be it can conjure up something to even horrify the horrors it brings into your sleeping mind?"
no subject
"Certainly an experiment for you to try next time! Let me know how it goes, would you?"
no subject
"It certainly is, and in a place like this it would be a useful thing to know. I'll be sure to do that, once I have actually tried it."
no subject
Not just because it'd be interesting but because of a bit of ego stroking. He gave the "nightmares" nightmares in Hell, after all.
no subject
He wouldn't have thought it from what he'd observed during this first impression of the man, but he'd been wrong before.
no subject
He shrugged.
"Seems only logical that I'd want to find out more about the darker aspects of that magic, too."
no subject
He seems to agree with him about what he says, though.
"Knowing more about it would make it easier to deal with when things get out of hand."
no subject
"Yet the more I studied and initially struggled to cast even the simplest spell, the more I realized that magic isn't as lawless as one might think. It's using energy to replace other components to speed up the process of whatever you're trying to do. It doesn't break the rules at all."
He flicked a wrist, a ball of fire hovering over his palm.
"Fire requires three things: an initial spark, fuel, and air. A flame like this is conjured using magic to replace the spark and the fuel. However, I can't use something like snow as a fuel even with magic since it doesn't burn.
"It's fascinating."
no subject
He watches the little ball of flame with some interest.
"Just so, and a bit of caution is also wise when dealing with fire. It is an easy element to lose control over if you do not treat it with respect."
Fascinating, yes, he could agree with that.

"When I died, I obtained what feels like an unlimited amount of magic but I maintain that ruthless efficiency with how I use it and never forgot the lessons hard won through the struggle."
no subject
"Strange. That it would all come rushing into you when you died... but then, I don't really know how death works for humans."
