[He almost pulls away. He does pull one hand away, mostly so he can gesture.]

I had the godsdamned gnosis, you know. It was mine, five hundred years too late. But then the Traveler and Buer decided the Akademyia wasn't allowed to make me into the god I should have been and took it from me.

[He scoffs.]

It's all her fault. If she'd just given me the gnosis like I was supposed to have when I was supposed to have it, none of it would happened! Tatarasuna would have been fine, I never would have met those humans, and no one would have died. And the worst part is? She doesn't even remember me, because I erased myself from Iriminsul, so I can't even do anything. Assuming she remembered me in the first place. Is that what you wanted to hear, Barbatos?

[He's on edge thanks to the damn puppet, and somehow Venti urging him on just. Broke the dam.]

[He's pieced together these little things to form a history of Wanderer's life before coming here. Since he cannot naturally remember who he might be he only has what Wanderer says about his past. But there is such honesty and hurt in his tone that Venti knows it's all true.]

I wanted to hear your heart and what might scare it.

[He thinks he has an idea now. And the doll seems to be floating slowly upwards.]

I can't say what might have been going through her mind in the past. Yet, she created a soul that wants to fix mistakes done through no fault of your own. Because of Dottore or lies, you found your losses and your truth and chased it. Didn't you?

[It's no wonder anemo adopted him.]

Nahida showed me Dottore's lies, and then I erased myself. Then the Traveler found me and brought me to her, and I asked for my memories back.

[Does that answer Venti's question? Wanderer has no idea, but it's what he says. He's a bit emotional right now.]

[He gently squeezes Wanderer's hand.]

You found you wanted a future for yourself. There's nothing wrong with that.

[All anemos seem to long for that sweet thing. He hopes that one day he can tell Ei his feelings so she can explain her reasons properly.

As for Dottore? Well, he can die. :)]

[Venti coos gently and comes to hug Wanderer close.

Once again, he can't push when an archon's business is an archon's business but... he truly feels for the other. Wishes he could blow all that turmoil away.]

I won't abandon you, come what may.

[...when was the last time he was hugged? Five hundred years ago? Nahida's never hugged him, though that's likely because of how he is and the air he exudes. So Venti just holding him like this.

It may be the first time Wanderer's cried in centuries. He's not loud, he just buries his face in Venti's shoulder and hopes the Archon doesn't comment on the tears. He's trying to stop them.]

[He keeps his arms around Wanderer, soft and gentle as always. This time he's not saying too much as he lets the other cry as much as he needs to. Venti only hums softly in that melodious way that he does.

There's nothing to be scared of. As scary as things are. He won't abandon this one. Ever.]

...if you tell anyone about this, I won't hesitate to kill you.

[A weak, toothless threat, especially since he's still clinging to Venti. The Ei doll is gone, replaced by a purple cat plush.]

[Venti giggles softly.]

Alright. Another secret between you and I.

[He'll never tell. And he'll hold Wanderer with a gentle supportive squeeze. And he won't loosen his hold until the other one wants the hug to end.]
