[He goes quiet for a second, motionless save for the gentle rise and fall of his chest as he breathes, eyes still shut and hands still folded over the book he's put down.]

The simple fact that one can find me at all, I suppose.

It's not such a rare thing, my dear Heizou. You deserve to feel that pitter-patter in your heart as well.

[Venti leans down and presses a soft featherlight kiss to Heizou's brow.]

I don't mind turning the pages of our story...

[He huffs out a soft, ever so slightly incredulous laugh. Even as he leans up into the touch of Venti's lips.]

This story only exists in the world of our dreams, though.

And? It would be a shame to let a story go only because it has an ending.

[It's still worth it... Isn't it?]

[He lets out a soft, thoughtful hum at that, finally opening his eyes to look up at Venti. And there's something equally soft and thoughtful in the way that Heizou looks at him. Along with something that can only be described as adoring.]

...You're right. I do prefer a nice happy ending, though~

[He looks at Heizou with that same affectionate gaze. He cares for Heizou so deeply already. To see him happy would mean the world to Venti's heart. Venti's heart is much like the breeze.]

Have a happy one with me, Heizou. If you would like.

[He has more than enough room in his heart.]

[That makes a little smile spread across his face, much like the warm, fuzzy feeling in his chest.]

If I do that, then I'll never wanna wake up from this dream.

If we have to... I'll only have to find a way to find you in Teyvat. And the wind always finds a way.

Oh? You're really that determined to spoil me~?

[concierto]

And if I am?

[He playfully hums back.]

Is that alright?

[book2thehead]

[He gives Venti a playful, but endlessly fond look. Until Venti gets fed up with him, Heizou will cherish these moments.]

It's more than alright.

[concierto]

Ehe.

[Would he ever be fed up with his dear sweet Heizou, so charming and sharp? Never.

He leans down and presses a gentle kiss to Heizou's lips.]

[It'll be a while longer before he feels like he can really believe that. He wants to. He wants to so much. It's just hard when people have yet to prove him wrong.

Still, he presses up into that kiss, gentle and sweet. And when they eventually draw back he smiles and tugs affectionately at one of Venti's braids.]

Did you make us match tonight?

[concierto]

[Venti opens his eyes and gives the other a gentle smile. His fingers trace the braids he's neatly put in Heizou's hair.]

Hmhm. They look pretty on you, Heizou. Your hair is perfect for braids.

[He laughs softly at that. No protests here.]

I've never asked... Why do you like braids so much?

[concierto]

[Venti tilts his head at the question.]

It's a simple thing, I think. I love braids because a long lost friend used to wear his hair just the same way.

[book2thehead]

[Heizou studies him for a moment, rubbing a thumb over one of the plaits in Venti's hair.]

Did you love him the way you do the rest of us?

[concierto]

[That puts a serene yet sad-looking expression on Venti's face. A thought he hasn't thought about for a long... long time.]

I think he would have been the first person I loved.

[Oh, long lost love...]

Ehe! But, he did teach me how important it is to keep writing stories and songs. No matter when one ends another must begin. To miss out on the joy and adventure of all stories... That would be the biggest shame of all.

[He just watches Venti quietly, watches the complicated emotions play over his face. He knows it's not as easy as the god makes it sound. He knows that from experience. It's no wonder Venti leaves so much room in his heart for others. Or maybe that ache blew open a hole too wide to easily fill.

With a small, understanding smile of his own, Heizou releases Venti's braid to instead trace his fingers lightly - almost soothingly - along his jawline.]

I suppose that's true... So he was a bard, then?

[concierto]

[It's been a long time since Venti has ever spoken about the bard boy. He's only told Aether about him once before. Before that? No one, not even people close to him like Xiao and Zhongli.

He hums softly with a sweet smile on his face as he feels those fingers tapering across his jawline.]

He was, the one that inspired me to be the one I am today.

[Inspired him to be ... a lot of things.]

Long, long ago... he taught me that the freedom for people to fly would be the most important thing to give. To always fight for the right for people to see the sky as it is. Those things... He taught me how to be the type of archon that I wanted to be.

[Heizou is hanging on his every word, his attentions trained entirely on Venti and nothing else. The apartment could be on fire and Heizou would wait until Venti finished to put it out. He can tell this isn't something the archon shares with just anyone.

He's... kind of honored to be trusted with it, then.]

Your people adore you, Venti. I hope you really know that. And I also think you're a marvelous archon. I'm sure your friend would be very proud to see how you've taken what you've learned from him and inspired those around you.

...You don't have to answer this if you don't want to, but... If you could speak with him again, what would you tell him?

[concierto]

[Heizou is so sweet, so attentive. Venti appreciates him very much for being those things. Venti feels as though he can trust Heizou with these feelings. That they wouldn't be taken and ripped apart and would be cherished and held instead. He can believe what Heizou says.]

Ehe... That is a very easy question. I would tell him all about the world I've seen. And all the love I've found in it.

[He'll gently sing the last part to an old song...]

Fly, fly away.
Like a bird in the sky.
See the world on my behalf.
To the heavens may you fly.

[He smiles softly as Venti starts to sing, as short as it is. Only when he's done does he reach for one of Venti's hands, just to pull it close and press a light kiss to his fingertips.]

Sounds like it would be quite a lengthy conversation, then... Do you leave Mondstadt often to see the rest of the world?

[That soft brush of affection makes Venti's heart warm. He smiles down at his dear one in his lap and he nods.

He'll spend the rest of the evening regaling Heizou with a few tales of the stories and sights he's seen from all over the world. Sing a few songs. And call it a wonderful and sweet evening spent together.]
