It’s entirely possible that Gen is busy and so Senku is the one behind the counter. He’s fussing with something and he glances up when someone comes in.

“Welcome to Creamistry.” He murmurs a little bit. He washes his hands and towels them off.

He’s in the middle of making little animals out of sugar.

Senku comes to the counter. “What can I get for you?”

Challenge

Perhaps instead they’re interested in answering the ad that Senku put up on the board.

He gets a devious grin. “You want to help me figure out my challenge? By all means.”

Senku has a knack for looking downright evil.

“You have a preference for flavour, or do you want me to decide?”

She finishes this bowl before too long, then the next and the one after that, keeping a pretty steady pace the whole time. Pauline is enjoying herself so much that she may have actually forgotten about the challenge aspect and begins idly sipping that Tutti Frutti soda.

"Geez, everything is way too good...! You guys totally killed it with all this."

She's beyond impressed. Back home, a place with ice cream this good, especially when it was made from scratch, would have been considered super high end.

"Thank you." Senku smiled. "It was a bit of trial and error, as I tried to work out the right balance and my partner did the taste testing. He's a sweets expert."

Gen wasn't around right then, but other times he would be. He was better at this whole serving thing.

"A sweets expert, huh? No wonder everything is so good...!"

As much as she likes sweets, she supposes she definitely wouldn't be an expert. Without much thought, she starts in on the next bowl of ice cream.

"You probably did at least a little taste testing yourself, though, right? Which one is your favorite?"

"A bite here or there." Senku admits. "I'm not a fan of sweets at all." That's the problem really.

"But actually the garlic and onion one is pretty tasty and the curry. I made sure they tasted at least good before I let Gen try them."

He's a little softhearted.

"I guess a taste tester is pretty necessary in this case, then...," she muses as she takes another bite of ice cream. She can only imagine the misery of having to taste test food you don't like. Not that she has many of those, but still.

"Those savory ones do sound pretty good, though. And they're such a good idea! Imagine wanting curry but it's way too hot out! Curry ice cream is like, the perfect solution!"

"I imagine that was the thought process. They're still on the sweet side, but not as much as say the cookie dough one." Senku answers.

He doesn't hate the sweets, he just doesn't love them. He's more of a savoury/spicy kind of guy.

"It keeps Gen happy...and experimenting keeps me happy." The shop is really a win on all fronts.

"This must be a pretty fun project for you, then," she replies, taking a sip of her cream soda float. She lets out a quiet "Mmm!" as the air around her vaguely shimmers.

"Even if they're still a little on the sweet side, I wonder if they could be served along with a meal instead of as a dessert. Like, if something is super spicy, it could damp the spice a little without being a total flavor whiplash."

Maybe she'll have to do some experimenting of her own. If wine pairings can be a thing, maybe ice cream pairings are possible?

"Well..." Senku considers that for a moment. It is a very fun project and she's just given him something else to think about.

"You definitely could do that with ice cream because of the casein, which lowers the heat of something like that. You don't necessarily have to make ice cream sweet. You could make it savoury, but I will admit I've never tried that..."

But a salty base instead of a sweet one? Hmm...

She hurries to finish the ice cream she's just shoved into her mouth before speaking.

"I bet it could even blow up into like, a total thing you know? I mean, when people hear about something new and unique, it really makes them wanna try it!"

That's the case for her, anyway, but she's not taking into account that she'll also eat just about anything. She finishes the bowl of ice cream she had been working on and moves on to one of the sample cups as small sparkles start to pop around her once more.

"I suppose you can make a trend out of anything." Senku's not the most knowledgeable on the subject.

"I'll work on it and see what I can manage. I'll let you know."
