He reached over to pet Maple.

"Wolves have a really thick 'accent' and are loud but overall just wanna lick your mouth, and foxes talk really fast and have their own secret words they use to talk to each other."

"Interesting! I can turn into a deer here -- quite fun, actually! -- but I don't understand them or anything else that's more cervine. Well, not any sort of 'words'. It's all body language that I originally gleaned studying them as a hunter."

"Quite a bit about what keeps them calm and what causes them to go on alert. Also behavior to watch out for. Deer are typically quite skittish but a buck in rut is quite the dangerous animal."

He didn't miss that. At all. Oh my god. What a weird and awful time to be homeless.
