[Semi-Open] Oh, would you look at that. It's Joshua Day.

What: Once upon a time, some people looked at a baby and said, "You are Joshua." Today, we celebrate the 29th anniversary of that occasion.
Warnings: None!
It's early evening, and the golden hour sun shines gently through the windows of the Starflower Cafe. There's a modest array of red, white, and black decorations strung from the roof and set upon the tables to catch the flickering flames of lantern centrepieces, but the overall ambience is simple and warm, reminiscent of Rosarian hospitality.
Clive and Jill extended invitations earlier in the week, emphasising that the celebration is a surprise for Joshua. Guests are encouraged to arrive early, whereupon Jill will guide them not into hiding, per se, but at least to places where they can't be spotted through the windows. Meanwhile, Clive will be escorting Joshua to the party under the pretence of treating him to a name day dinner.
As such, guests are also encouraged to surprise some JOY into Mister Phoenix Boy when the brothers arrive.
Once the excitement of the surprise subsides, all guests will receive a softly glowing phoenix feather imbued with healing dreamotion. Joshua is handing them out personally as tokens of gratitude, so come and get yours!
Early mingling will happen over the appetizer buffet, which features potato croquettes, charcuterie boards with a heavy emphasis on cheese, various veggie platters with dips, and small cups of ice cream. Or, guests can sit down and chat over dinner: a roast with all the fixings.
After dinner, everyone will be escorted outside to where a bonfire has been set up. There, guests can enjoy roasting marshmallows, s'mores, and other sweet treats over the fire while watching a fireworks show to end the night.
TL;DR it's a party. So, like, party y'all.
(Clive and Jill will be around, but they'll be busy ensuring everything goes off without a hitch, so they won't be interacting much. Please feel free to assume that introductions have happened & that everyone present has been invited to their wedding, where they will be much more present!)

[When Hiyori takes his arm, Joshua grins in return and neatly (but also playfully) walks them both over to the table. Some of the gifts have already been opened and replaced with care. Others are still wrapped and waiting.]
[His elbow slackens just enough for Hiyori to pull away if she so chooses.]
I tried to organize them as best I could based on size and shape.

I'm not entirely sure.
It's been a long time since I've had a nameday celebration, and I've never opened my own gifts. [Just in case there was malicious intent...]
I suppose I just enjoy the way it looks! However, I'm open to any suggestions on how best to open one's presents.

nameday... that must mean birthday in his world. she looks a mix of concerned and confused when he confesses to not having a celebration in a while and never opening his gifts. never? not when he was a child? why? ]
I-I don't think there's a make-or-break best way. Whichever way you want is best. It's your bir-- nameday. You can rip up all the paper or peel the tape away... carefully...
[ trails off. oh. he's found her gift - a neatly wrapped box. ]

Perhaps carefully is best. I don't wish to show disrespect towards the work placed into their presentation.
[And yes, indeed! That's Hiyori's gift that he picks up with a wide smile.]
Let's start with this one, shall we?
[He's careful but quick, his deft fingers finding the seam in her wrapping before sliding under and lifting it away with a single movement. He treats the rest of the gift with the same care, eventually laying the paper down on the table almost entirely intact outside of some small rips here and there.]

[ while she might have instigated this, directing joshua to the present table to open gifts, she can't help feeling nervous about him opening her gift in front of her. from what she knows about joshua, he'll definitely be polite about it even if it's not to his taste.
he truly does open the whole thing carefully. she restrains the urge to giggle out of nowhere, like a maniac, and instead watches until he sets the paper aside. ]
S-so, um, you... said you like writing. [ hiyori fidgets with her cup of non-alcoholic drink. ] And with all the notes will probably be taking in the future about Songerein...

It's perfect. The quill is pristine, and the leather is of sublime quality.
[Although not quite breathless, he's clearly in genuine awe.]
I've been filling so many journals with notes and reflections that I can scarcely keep up with purchasing more. [A beat as he considers one journal in particular and how its contents are less-than-joyful, but the thought he spares it is barely more than a fleeting idea, and certainly not one strong enough to bring down his mood.]
This one... I think it will be best suited for happiness. Mayhap celebratory customs throughout Songerein and her Dreamers? What do you think?
