{ spring cleaning }

SPRING CLEANING
Dust bunnies are invading Reverein but it's a lot more chaotic than one might think, especially when it's affecting dreams. There are additional opt-in "quests" that players can sign up for that are outside of this log. More details on everything can be found here. We may request any thread submissions for certain prompts during AC.
Dream Board items can also be included in the log.
I. INVASION
A swarm of dust bunnies has appeared from out of nowhere and are stampeding through Reverein. While the bulk of it will happen within the first week, a few groups will come and go throughout the rest of the month, with quite a few lingering around, hidden within nooks and crannies and beneath furniture, and leaving behind a lot of dust.
A lot of dust.
Some helpful cleaning fairies will bestow special maid and butler outfits for people to wear to help combat the situation. All voluntary this time, but they do recommend it as they will grant extra cleaning skills and abilities to the wearer.
A. Dust Bunnies. The dust bunnies are everywhere, and while they themselves are harmless, they are an easily frightened bunch and also quite fragile. They are made entirely of dust, of course, so just a little push is enough to get them on their way. They are tiny, about an inch tall, so be careful and do not hit them! Doing so will cause them to explode and leave a giant layer of dust guts behind.

🥕 A tasty treat. One safe way to lure out the little dust bunnies is using real carrots. They need to be cut up into small pieces so they can better eat them.
🕳️ Not so holesome. Unfortunately, one other destructive thing these dust bunnies will do is bite holes through various fabrics and wood. This is their attempt to "burrow" through wherever they are and create homes. Thus while the ones just traveling straight through won't be a problem, the ones that think under the bed might be a comfortable new home may be a bother.
💥 Surprise blast. The bunnies are easily spooked and as a defense mechanism, they will explode to cake the threat in dust. However, in this situation they will reform themselves and are not harmed. The dust that is created in this situation will be hard to clean off and will require water and soap. Not only that, it will make the affected drowsy and confused for a while, acting as if they are drunk.
🐇 Big Bunny. If they are feeling really threatened, the dust bunnies will come together and form one giant form. They're still pretty weak and can't cause much damage, so it's more of a "puff up and scare" tactic. However, they will leave more dust and if that form explodes, well. That will be a lot of dust.
B. Elite Maids and Butlers. While not everyone is wearing them, many denizens of Reverein have decided to try on the outfits and are actually enjoying utilizing their newfound cleaning prowess as they not only clean their own homes and business, but the streets around them as well. However, while most keep their usual state of mind, some may get a little too into the role. Armed with brooms, feather dusters, cloths, and sponges, they will leave everything ✨sparkling✨ clean.

🧹 Sweep it away. Whether it's directing the magical brooms that can sweep on their own or wielding one in hand, those with a broom may be a bit overzealous in their sweeping. Not only will they be going after dust and dirt, they will be trying to sweep away anything that looks even slightly dirty. Even people.
✨ This does not spark joy. In a similar vein, when it comes to clutter and meses, those in the outfits will be very quick to try and get rid of anything that doesn't hold much value. While most of the time it's practical, everyone has their own particular criteria. Which can be a problem when someone tries to put their preferences on someone else, so be careful as some may just barge into someone else's home and try to throw away things that shouldn't be.
🤵 Here to serve. Others may feel inclined to find a "master" or "mistress" to "serve," whether it be helping clean or even preparing tea and snacks. They will be loyal to a fault to those they choose, and sometimes that choice may just be completely impulsive with no reason—even if they don't know them.
C. Sweepies. The Orkilins have provided automatic vacuum cleaning robots called "Sweepies" that will roam around and suck up all the dust and dirt and then self-incinerate the dust in their bins to empty it out. They're still prototypes, so there may still be problems, but it's still better nothing at all, right? …Right?

🤖 Suck it. The Sweepies are meant to only stay on the floor and suck up the dust, however, their sensors can malfunction and they'll start climbing up walls or getting into other areas they aren't supposed to and try to vacuum up other items. Try and stop them!
🚨 Stuck. When a Sweepie is stuck, it will blare out a very loud, annoying alarm that will continue until it gets unstuck. Sometimes they are easy to find, other times they may be in some random location. Like the roof.
💨 Explosive Dust Bombs. The Sweepies the Orkilins have provided are unfortunately sucking up the dust bunnies which means disaster when they inevitably explode inside them, destroying not only the device but creating a dangerous "dust bomb" that can halfway fill an entire room. Stop the sweepies before they can suck up the bunnies!
🤺 Versus Maids and Butlers. There may be a sense of hostile competition against the Sweepies that are whirring about town by those wearing the maid and butler outfits, and whenever one malfunctions they will be quick to deal with it—by trying to break it. Try and stop those who are being too aggressive towards the automatic vacuum cleaners.
⚔️ Versus Sweepies. As if inspired by the fights, some have decided to "arm" the Sweepies with various objects and set them up for mock fights. Whether real weapons are used… Well, that's up to the person. There might even be some kind of back alley fighting ring that starts up as people take these devices and try to modify them. Either join them or stop them.
D. Pruning Nightweeds. Out in the Wildlands, remnants of Nahida's dreamscape still linger, the excess nostilium affecting various plants and corrupting them, and the fae have decided to call them "nightweeds." Fortunately the amounts are small so they aren't too much of a threat, but they need to be taken care of before they do become one.

🥀 Wilted. There are notable patches of wilted greenery both right outside in the Reverein fields and all around the Wildlands with it lessening the further out one goes. The affected plants will have notable black splotches, some completely black and dried up. One can either cut them, pull them, or even try to heal them by purifying them with dreamotion.
🩺 Ailing animals. Some animals have eaten the corrupted plants and need to be found for treatment. Fortunately most will just have indigestion, and the fae have provided some special cakes that can be given to the animals to eat that will help clear up the nostilium.
☣️ Do Not Eat. The fae are, of course, worried that some animals or other fae are deliberately eating the infected plants to increase their own nostilium levels. While some may be able to handle it without much effect, this still poses a risk of them turning noctaere. Find and dissuade or stop them by any means necessary. Just beware the more violent fae and animals as they will likely not be so willing.

Nom Nom Nightweeds
Having trouble?

[ ... s-l-o-w-l-y giving Alastor a side eye. ]
... You haven't been feeding them anything out of my sight, have you?
[ alastor. ALASTOR.]

I can see why you'd ask: I do let them roost on my head and antlers when they wish along with leaving out stray bits of hair that get left behind on my brush. However, in regards to feeding them, that you can't blame me for. I don't know what's considered poisonous to crows, certainly not raisin crows, so I don't feed them without your knowledge.

For now, we can both agree that these nightweeds are worse than any poison. I may have to use force to get it away from this one, but I worry it may swallow it in the struggle.

To be more specific, she's eyeing his hair. ]

[No need to teach the naughty one that misbehaving gets a treat.]
All right, everyone. Here you go.
[He sets the loose hair down amongst the flock still with Black Raisin Cookie. If the naughty one wants some, they'll have to drop the weed and come take some.]

[ It's a wonder this man isn't bald. The other Crows make happy cawing sounds, playing around it and picking it up.
Bad Crow stares intensely, hesitating... ]

[Alastor pretends not to be watching Bad Crow but he is. The second the crow drops that weed, he's gonna snatch it up.]

Bad Crow shivers and shakes... then can't stand it anymore! They drop the weed and divebomb the hairs! ]
Ah! It worked!
no subject
[Alastor snatches up the weed and tucks it away so Bad Crow doesn't think to reclaim it.]
Excellent! Nothing like a good trade to get a crow to drop something!
