[Closed] The Merry Ace Attorney
Who: The Great Ace Attorney cast
Which: Closed log
Where: Mikotoba house
What: The Mikotobas invite Kazuma over for Christmas on the 25th, and all their friends from home on the 26th
Warnings: Nothing here but Christmas cheer!
[25th, closed to Kazuma]
[It's Christmas day in the Mikotoba household, and no such celebration would be complete without their adoptive family member. For that reason, presents have not yet been opened and instead lie ready in a corner of the living area, the wrapping paper almost beckoning the curious gaze. The decorations in the house are minimal in number, though Yujin did learn a thing or two from the most recent dreamscape about crafting a strong Christmas aesthetic with bare essentials. Food has already been prepared for the most part by Susato; roast duck and an apple spiced tea. It only requires those few easy finishing touches, but it's not dinner time yet!
At the moment, they're still waiting for Kazuma to arrive.]
[26th, Cast Party]
[For today, the Mikotobas made sure to invite everyone they know from home to spend Christmas at their home. They have to stick together! While those who hail from London may have their own traditions regarding Christmas, they'll just have to make do with what's been set up! Yujin dragged in a small tree, there's hot cocoa for everyone and dinner will be later. After that, perhaps some drinks of the alcoholic variety for the adults? (Which means everyone except Susato, sorry!) The choices are between apple cider or wine, because we all know Van Zieks has a problem.]

Yes, I'm quite willing to believe that. I've been fortunate enough to always have some form of company during the holidays, but even then... [Other company never stopped him from missing his wife, he thinks bitterly. So he shakes his head and plasters a smile onto his face.] Well, I'm glad that our party is serving you well.

olderother man.]You're... Mr. Mikotoba, aren't you?
[He straightens himself up, before speaking in a respectful, if content manner.]
Thank you for inviting me to your home. I'm Daley Vigil... I've spoken to your daughter a couple of times before.
no subject
You're quite welcome. It's really no trouble at all. [A pause, and then:] We may have met in passing in a distant past before, though I don't know if you would recall. Over a decade ago, when I was an exchange student working in St. Synner's, I did quite a bit of business with Barclay.
[Certainly, most of Yujin's dealings back then were with Governor Caidin. Even so, he expects that there were whispers among the prison staff, given his nationality.]
no subject
...Have we? [His voice becomes quiet, and he looks tired despite his earlier attempts to be positive on this day.]
I apologize, I've lost a lot of my memories from ten years ago, especially near the end of my tenure at Barclay. [....] I am really sorry that I've forgotten you.
no subject
Oh, no, please don't worry about it. I don't believe we ever truly met. It would have been one conversation at best, and I must admit, my memories of that time have grown a bit hazy as well. [Quite a bit went down around Genshin's execution and in all the hectics, Yujin's mind clung only to the memories that were deemed to be extra important.]
Regardless, it means that we have a second chance to get acquainted here.
no subject
Maybe he should take some extra steps in remembering that time.]
...Of course. [He still looks tired, but in the spirit of the holiday, he wants to at least try and go along with his suggestion. It's not like he's against the idea at all.] I would like that, sir. If you truly don't mind.
no subject
Of course I don't mind. The more friends, the merrier, I would say. Aside from that, it's nice to speak to someone who's closer to my own age.
no subject
I do feel like most of the people here are half our age or less. [He's not entirely sure how old Yujin is, but he's assuming older than him.]
...It does make one feel quite old sometimes.

[He definitely wants to be a good role model for his sons. Of course, he doesn't have any of his family members in this dream world, but the thought doesn't do much to hinder the responsibility he holds for himself. There's still plenty of kids in this place, for one, and... he wants to be better now that he doesn't have to worry about money for once.
Although, getting rid of Gossip is still too hard for him.]
Even if some of them seem so dependable already. If I'm still learning about things... then they must as well. [Vigil chuckles lightly.] That probably makes me sound just as old.
no subject
Hm. Fortunately for us, there is no shame in sounding older. It adds a certain ripe charm, I like to think. Though... The kids might disagree with that.
no subject
Does Susato tease you every so often about that?
[Vigil can't help but smile slightly at the thought, even if it turns out to be untrue. It's a little hard to imagine her teasing anyone, mostly because she's always been very proper with him, but things are certainly different when it comes to familial relationships. He should know.]
...I feel that at least one of my own children would, in light jest.
no subject
Oh, ah, not too often...
[But something else that Vigil said caught his attention and distracted him.]
I'm sorry, I was unaware you have children. [He should have at least expected it, since Vigil is happily married, but somehow his brain never made that connection.]
no subject
Oh, yes, I have two sons back home. I'd like to think of them as well-behaved, but they can still be quite a handful. [Guess all children are in some manner, that's the nature of the beast.]
But along with my wife, they're the center of my life.
no subject
Mmh, of course. There's no replacement in the world for family. You must miss them a lot.
[Yujin was lucky to have Susato here, at the very least. If she'd been left at home, he's not sure what his life here would've been like. A lot more lonely, he supposes.]
no subject
[His smile is slightly bittersweet, loving his family with his entire being, but deeply missing them since arriving in this dream world. Even if things are continuing on like normal back home, he consciously feels every day passing and as such, every moment without having Evie or his children nearby.]
...I'm sure you're glad to have Susato with you. [His smile turns more understanding, losing some of the grief from earlier. He... really doesn't want to be a downer at a time like this.] Perhaps worried about her too. As fathers do.
