[Closed] The Merry Ace Attorney
Who: The Great Ace Attorney cast
Which: Closed log
Where: Mikotoba house
What: The Mikotobas invite Kazuma over for Christmas on the 25th, and all their friends from home on the 26th
Warnings: Nothing here but Christmas cheer!
[25th, closed to Kazuma]
[It's Christmas day in the Mikotoba household, and no such celebration would be complete without their adoptive family member. For that reason, presents have not yet been opened and instead lie ready in a corner of the living area, the wrapping paper almost beckoning the curious gaze. The decorations in the house are minimal in number, though Yujin did learn a thing or two from the most recent dreamscape about crafting a strong Christmas aesthetic with bare essentials. Food has already been prepared for the most part by Susato; roast duck and an apple spiced tea. It only requires those few easy finishing touches, but it's not dinner time yet!
At the moment, they're still waiting for Kazuma to arrive.]
[26th, Cast Party]
[For today, the Mikotobas made sure to invite everyone they know from home to spend Christmas at their home. They have to stick together! While those who hail from London may have their own traditions regarding Christmas, they'll just have to make do with what's been set up! Yujin dragged in a small tree, there's hot cocoa for everyone and dinner will be later. After that, perhaps some drinks of the alcoholic variety for the adults? (Which means everyone except Susato, sorry!) The choices are between apple cider or wine, because we all know Van Zieks has a problem.]

This is... very kind. Thank you.
[ So she slowly begins to unravel it the present, curiosity overtaking her. Still, she can't help but slow down when she notices Ryunosuke doing the same thing.
When he finishes opening the present, he will find a small box, fit for a piece of jewelry. Opening that, he will find a homemade bottle pendant. Instead of the clear blue water, though, she uses rainbow honey to give it a colorful shine; and of course, the little origami ship somehow remains in tact, with the steering wheel of the ship as a charm to complete the look.
She says quietly, only after she is sure he has seen it and reacted: ]
A reminder, I suppose. That we still have unfinished work in Japan. I made myself a matching one as well.

...it's perfect. Thank you.
[It's totally pink. He had seen the pink and white pattern and immediately thought of her. The ribbon turned out a bit more red than purple, but that's somewhat expected with the natural colors of the holiday. The inside is just about as unique as the outside, as it's wrapped in layers; separating and protecting two different sets of items in the same package.
The first is a wooden bookmark. At the end of the ribbon is a daruma-- one that lights up dark spaces, so as to make sure the reader won't strain their eyes, without casting too much light as to potentially wake others. The second is a pair-- hair pins he picked out.]
I thought you would probably like something more practical, so... I tried to find something that would make things a little bit easier for you and then, well-- I found the other by accident. You have such beautiful hair, so I thought-- [He rubs the back of his neck.] W-well, I just... hope you like them.

She takes a moment to open the other package too, which wasn't difficult, and she looks just as taken. The sakura and butterflies are definitely her aesthetic. She chuckles. ]
Not bad, for an accident. [ Immediately, she reaches up and lets her hair loose. With a practiced touch and no mirror in sight, she makes it look effortless as she redoes it completely to incorporate her newest accessories. ] ...Well? Is it still beautiful?

...
Now he doesn't know the first thing about hair styling, as his is prone to simply doing what it like as much as he tries to keep it in an orderly fashion. But he's still fairly confident that what she's doing would be quite difficult for most. And yet it seems fitting when she does it.
There is a moment of pause in which he watches her, before it properly sinks in that she's waiting for him to give his response.]
Oh--! Yes, very much so. [...] Although-- I doubt even a poor choice on my part could have changed that.

Thank you... I do happen to like them very much.
[ With the pins in her hair, she also tucks the bookmark away in a safe place in her sleeve (read: hammerspace)--which is not as roomy as her regular kimono's, but that's just how it be sometimes when you're forced into an ugly Christmas sweater. ]
Would you like to try on the necklace as well? I need to make sure the chain is long enough.
no subject
[He should be able to do this himself no problem, right?
...well getting it around his neck isn't a problem. And he knows where both the ends are, they're right there between his fingers. Do you think he could get them to clasp together and hold? No. He tries multiple times, but even when he thinks he has it, the hook just misses.]
...would you mind giving me a hand?
[Yeah, he's really not one of those people who can do this without a mirror.]
no subject
Of course. Come here.
[ She closes the distance between them and isn't shy about turning him around so that she has access to the back of his neck, where the two ends of the chain meet. From there, it is very simple for her to hook them together. ]
There. How is that?

Once she's finished, he looks down at it. It seems like the perfect length. Loose enough that it won't bother him if he wears it regularly, but not so long that it risks getting caught on anything too easily. Even so, once he's satisfied with it, he tucks it underneath his sweater. While he takes great pride in it, there is also something special about it that feels like it belongs to just the two of them. He doesn't need to flaunt it.]
Thanks. It's just right. Honestly though, I expected nothing less from you.
no subject
Lucky, I suppose. I chose the same length as mine and just... hoped.
[ She unhooks her necklace, and rather than struggling with it at the back of her neck, she pulls the ends together in the front, where it's much easier. Then she turns te chain around so that the charm is in the front. ]

...aaaand the all-too-clever way she makes easy work of putting it on herself. He sticks that trick away for future use.]
Calling it "luck" is underestimating yourself a bit, I think. You have an eye for details, to say the least.
no subject
I am just glad it fits comfortably.
Please... make yourself at home. There are some snacks in the kitchen should you need some refreshments.
