[25th, closed to Kazuma]

[It's Christmas day in the Mikotoba household, and no such celebration would be complete without their adoptive family member. For that reason, presents have not yet been opened and instead lie ready in a corner of the living area, the wrapping paper almost beckoning the curious gaze. The decorations in the house are minimal in number, though Yujin did learn a thing or two from the most recent dreamscape about crafting a strong Christmas aesthetic with bare essentials. Food has already been prepared for the most part by Susato; roast duck and an apple spiced tea. It only requires those few easy finishing touches, but it's not dinner time yet!

At the moment, they're still waiting for Kazuma to arrive.]


[26th, Cast Party]

[For today, the Mikotobas made sure to invite everyone they know from home to spend Christmas at their home. They have to stick together! While those who hail from London may have their own traditions regarding Christmas, they'll just have to make do with what's been set up! Yujin dragged in a small tree, there's hot cocoa for everyone and dinner will be later. After that, perhaps some drinks of the alcoholic variety for the adults? (Which means everyone except Susato, sorry!) The choices are between apple cider or wine, because we all know Van Zieks has a problem.]

[He's honestly a little surprised to know that Mr. Naruhodo hasn't known the Mikotobas for that long. He just assumed that he and Susato have been friends for a while, seeing that she mentioned they work together in court and she knew of his university. Maybe that just shows how welcoming the Mikotoba family is, although Vigil gets a sense that Mr. Naruhodo is rather pleasant himself.]

...Have we met before as well? [Suddenly, Vigil feels a little awkward, although this time, he's pretty sure that this isn't tied to his memories of 10 years ago. No, it probably has to do with the trial regarding Gregson's murder.]

Ah, you must've been the lawyer at the trial everyone's been mentioning to me.

That's right-- although you're not the only one among us to have no recollection of those events.

[Perhaps it doesn't need saying, but regardless, Ryunosuke wouldn't want him to feel bad over something he couldn't possibly have known. If anyone might, he worries it would be this man. Knowing the weight of everything else he carries with him, he'd like it if this could be happy proper reunion.]

Actually, come to think of it, It wasn't just you either. I met your wife as well during my time in London. She was a juror during one of my cases and she also paid a visit to the man we were staying with at the time.

[Is there really another person from their world that doesn't know? He's quite certain that everyone he's spoken to knows of that trial... except for maybe Mr. Asogi. Actually, that's probably the case, although Vigil isn't 100% certain about that.]

Yes, she mentioned a trial to me... the one involving a professor and his exploding machine. She was very excited to hear about every possible secret and relationship people had with one another. Evie spoke quite highly of you.

[All of it pretty good gossip, in Vigil's opinion. And at the very least, Daley doesn't look alarm or offended by Ryunosuke's words there.]

Detective Sholmes? I've heard from Miss Mikotoba that she went to him to find me, I think. It's awful to think I've worried her so...

[In hindsight, he really shouldn't find it surprising that they'd talked all about that case.]

I'm quite honored. She was a great help in uncovering the truth of that case as well.

That's right. She was quite beside herself, and with good reason. But it was the least we could do to help her. I hope that when the two of you see each other again, things will be better for the both of you.

...Was she? I'm certainly glad. Evie is very perceptive, so I'm not entirely surprised to hear this.

[Vigil smiles warmly as he speaks, just imagining how impassioned his wife was during the trial. Being a juror can be quite intimidating at times, but he has no doubt that she was a fair and open-minded individual during the whole process.]

Thank you... Mr. Naruhodou, was it? [Susato has mentioned his name to him in one of their conversations. The former guard raises a hand to his chest, still smiling gratefully at Ryunosuke.] You're quite kind. And I'm truly thankful that you helped my wife during my disappearance... it's a debt I sincerely owe.
