[It's Christmas day in the Mikotoba household, and no such celebration would be complete without their adoptive family member. For that reason, presents have not yet been opened and instead lie ready in a corner of the living area, the wrapping paper almost beckoning the curious gaze. The decorations in the house are minimal in number, though Yujin did learn a thing or two from the most recent dreamscape about crafting a strong Christmas aesthetic with bare essentials. Food has already been prepared for the most part by Susato; roast duck and an apple spiced tea. It only requires those few easy finishing touches, but it's not dinner time yet!

At the moment, they're still waiting for Kazuma to arrive.]

[26th, Cast Party]

[For today, the Mikotobas made sure to invite everyone they know from home to spend Christmas at their home. They have to stick together! While those who hail from London may have their own traditions regarding Christmas, they'll just have to make do with what's been set up! Yujin dragged in a small tree, there's hot cocoa for everyone and dinner will be later. After that, perhaps some drinks of the alcoholic variety for the adults? (Which means everyone except Susato, sorry!) The choices are between apple cider or wine, because we all know Van Zieks has a problem.]

...! [ Susato is equally startled, receiving the return gift with care. She doesn't know what to make of it, really; it is only recently and in Reverein that they've truly had a chance to talk, but perhaps she is just that predictable, as a Japanese teenage girl.

She smiles warmly, slowly taking a fingernail to the wrapping paper herself. ]

Th, Thank you... Though we did not expect gifts when we invited you, I promise. How very kind.

[ Meanwhile, when (or if) Vigil finishes opening his gift, he will find a box. Inside that is a set of four different-colored writing quills, and three perfectly secure inkwells--along with a sort of advertisement. Despite that, she'll explain it regardless. ]

They're enchanted to write on their own. I haven't tried it yet for myself, but I thought a certain someone might make good use of it.

Can you imagine the talking to I'd get from my wife if she found out I visited someone's home without having a gift in hand?

[...Is that a joke?? Is Vigil joking?? That apparently seems to be the case, judging by the light chuckle that escapes the older man. A true Christmas miracle.

He continues to be in good spirits as he opens up his gift, carefully tearing the wrapping paper until he sees what's inside.]

Self-writing quills...? [He seems quite enchanted, really, his voice almost breathless as he looks them over.] These are lovely...

[Imagine the sort of ~~chaos~~ messages he can write with this. Vigil is definitely enamored, while almost feeling a little guilty that he only managed to get Susato a box of black tea, with different flavors designed to either rejuvenate or relax the drinker.]

[ Listen, tea is never a bad gift. Susato is smiling after the wrapping is all off, and she's turning over the packets too to check all the different flavors when she imagines Evie, the dainty woman she met for only a short time, giving him a scolding.

She chuckles, thinking how it was about time he loosened up a little. ]

Just... use your new found power for good, if you please. [ And she proudly holds up her new box of tea. ] ...I know I will.

[ Obviously, she thinks his gift is lovely as well. ]

[Well, since she already knows about Gossip... Vigil suddenly spreads his arms, although he makes sure that he doesn't hit or bump anything in the process. He's aware enough not to make a mess in someone else's home.]

Just a peddler of titbits here. Only gettin' the best from me.

[Hopefully Susato isn't already regretting this-- but soon enough, Vigil switches back to normal, though he's still smiling contently.]

...I'm glad you like the tea. I wasn't entirely sure which flavors you enjoyed the most, so I wanted to get a few different types depending on your mood.

[ Quite oppositely, Susato looks amused, though she's pretty sure that was his intention. She glances over her tea new tea selection again, giving an understanding nod. ]

It's perfect. I am always wanting to try new blends and flavors, especially with the Wild Harvest opening soon. Oh, and I will be sure to share with my father too, of course. [ Maybe. (Of course.) ]

I laid a present for your father under the tree. But... I'm certain he'd appreciate you sharing the tea with him still.

[Of course he had to come here with a gift for Miss Mikotoba's father as well!! He would be a complete sham if he didn't do such a thing.]

The Wild Harvest? Is that a restaurant you're employed at? [It's the first time he's heard about this and curiosity sparks in his eyes, wondering what sort of restaurant she's involved in. It sounds quite nice though.]

[ Employed? Oh, wow... Even after weeks of cleaning and helping to set things up, she never quite saw it that way. Suddenly, she looks a little nervous, but she still manages to nod proudly. ]

It is. Or, well... I will be? [ Yes, that's how the future tense works, Susato. ] It is to be Kazuma-sama's new restaurant. I wanted to help, so I will be cooking in the kitchen, and... likely serving, too.

...He wants to open after the new year, so... y, you should definitely come!

[Ah, so Mr. Asogi is planning a new restaurant and employing some close friends to assist him with it. That seems to be a nice idea, although he doesn't have much experience running a food business. He imagines that it might've been far more stressful if he had to worry about raking in enough money to pay for the land and everything, but here... it's probably not so bad.

He hopes that everything turns out well for them. He imagines it will. Sometimes, he can be optimistic for people!!]

I'd be happy to visit. [Although, he can't help but notice...] Are you nervous about working there?

[ Ah... it was that obvious, was it? Well, Susato has never been one to hide her feelings, and she always tries to be direct when she can, so it isn't a surprise. She looks sheepish, as if something on the ground had suddenly become very interesting. ]

...A little. I don't have any experience in this field of work, I'm afraid, so everything I learn, I will be picking up on the fly.

I am eager to help him, really I am, but... I do hope I won't hold them back.

[Starting any sort of new work can definitely be intimidating, but Vigil believes that she'll be great at this-- if through sheer determination and studious behavior. He's honestly not worried, but he gets the anxiety she holds about all this. It's stressful to think about disappointing something important to you...]

You'll do just fine, Miss Mikotoba. [He feels his eyes close just briefly, but he still smiles in a reassuring manner.]

Starting a restaurant isn't easy, I believe that Mr. Asogi is just glad to have your support.

[ Even though Vigil is totally just saying that, they are words she admittedly needs to hear. She tries to take comfort in that, holding them close. ]

Thank you... I believe he is glad, too. [ Otherwise, he would have never ran with the idea, right? It is just a matter of whether or not her support will be worth anything, in the end. But she is determined to make it worth something. ]

In any case, please make yourself at home. I've set out snacks in the kitchen, if you are hungry. You are welcome to stay for as long as you're comfortable.

[He's definitely going to visit now. Maybe it'll be a nice pub to go to on a weekly basis or something, just to see how they're doing in all this. Perhaps he'll be able to watch the business grow, and alongside that, Mr. Asogi and his friends.]

I thank you and Mr. Mikotoba for your kind hospitality once more. [Vigil bows again, still holding the present she's given him in his hands.]

I'm sure there are more guests that are arriving soon and it'd be rude of me to hold you up any longer.

[ Her lip twitches into a smile. Likewise, she still has the tea he gifted her, which definitely belongs in the kitchen. ]

You are just as much our guest as the rest. [ It's just van Zieks and Ryunosuke, anyway... they haven't exactly invited all of Reverein. Either way, she does still have to be a good hostess. She bows. ] I will not be far, however. If you'll excuse me...
