Open; calm before storm
Who: Ira and You
Which: Open Log!
Where: Outskirts of town, fishin' hole, Dreambucks
What: Ira finds an old arena to use as a training space and starts cleaning it up, takes a break, and then tries to ignore some nightmares.
Warnings: n/a, will update as necessary
[A - A Walk of Discovery; Outskirts of town]
[Ira has a lot on his mind.
It's not surprising really, considering how much he thinks about things, but it's getting to the point where he cannot find solace in books or in attempting to solve problems. Truthfully, he doesn't even know which problems to solve.
So instead, he walks.
No real destination in mind, if truth be told. If he goes too far out he can use a corridor to get back, or at least get closer. Just a chance to attempt to clear his mind. Get out of his head.
It's after a time that he comes across the ruins, and his curiosity grows. Though, as he gets closer, he finds it's not so much ruins as buildings that have been left derelict. They're old, musty, but Ira explores them anyway with interest, though his keyblade is never too far away. But eventually, he finds his way to a large, open space, where everything clicks. At one point, it was an arena. It's hard to say for what kind of sport but he can figure it out later. For now, Ira thinks he can use it.
It is a bit of a fixer upper, but no time like the present.
--
Until the bad weather sets in, Ira can be seen leaving town fairly early and returning late to clean the space up. He won't manage the whole space but there's a lot of snow to clear, training dummies to repair, etc. He usually comes back dirty and exhausted.]
[B - Training Time; The Arena]
[He has about a quarter of the space cleared on the field. Not much since there's still three quarters of rubble and detritus to move and make available but it's a start. Enough to create a space for sparing and a few training dummies. Enough for him to start having ideas for more.
But today, Ira is training as well. He needs to focus more on his own dreamotion, honing it and making it viable. Something he can actually use rather than a tentative last resort.
He's settled, for now, on making it an extension of what he knows. He can cast a fire spell but he wants to use the dreamotion to change it, to possibly give himself more control over it. And so what starts as one fireball spreads to two, then four, then slowly into a wave that is steadily melting some snow. Or possibly speeding towards someone coming in?]
[C - Respite; The Fishin' Hole]
[On perhaps the last good day before the weather turns, Ira takes a break. It's one of those days where you can sense the change coming, the dark clouds on the horizon and it would be best to get out and do something before you can't.
And so Ira has gone fishing.
It's not something he does often, but he's gone once or twice. Usually with Luxu or Gula, more to prove that they could than actually succeeding. But it seems to be a good way to relax.
Not that he expects to catch anything in this weather.
But he's found a spot to sit, the sun is shining, and he might be dozing off slightly as nothing is biting. Though someone might want to stop him before he falls in.]
[D - Nightmares; Dreambucks (Action and Network)]
[As the blizzard sets in, so do Ira's nightmares.
Certainly he is no stranger to them by now, but somehow they seem heavier, more constant. And in this weather it is hard to find activities to distract himself, or even just train until he pushes himself to exhaustion. Instead he dwells, and that just seems to bring further despair and darkness (the Master leaving, the Nightmare Chirithy, the distrust of his friends, the war).
Eventually, he braves the weather to Dreambucks, holing up in the cafe to be anywhere that isn't his treehouse. That can be somewhere with other people around, even if he doesn't necessarily talk to them. Just to be reminded that it's not just him in this world.
He's found a table near the back, and is there with a cup of strong tea. Eventually he takes his journal and is just idly doodling in it. No real specific sketch, just patterns mostly. A string of flowers, various diamond shapes, an attempt at a Unicorn at one point.]

[ Ori is someone who has always wanted to use her magic for the sake of others, for the sake of helping and healing and assisting. That much remains true even as she's found herself removed from her home, but there are certain... challenges that would prevent her from using her full abilities here. ]
I suppose that's true, but unfortunately they don't work in dreamscapes. I didn't realize how much I've really relied on my magic until now... Even though I spent all that time practicing last month.
no subject
It's hard to break the habit of relying on what's familiar.
no subject
[ She idly looks around in that moment, catching a glimpse of all the snow beyond the windows of the nice, cozy cafe they're in right now. ]
Have you been... um, pulled into any dreamscapes lately?
no subject
Nightmares seem rather frequent these days.
[He feels like he's seen, and been a part, of a lot of them]
no subject
Are you, um... how are you doing? The nightmares can be very exhausting, can't they...
no subject
[And he's far too aware of his own dreams.]
I feel a little helpless, to be honest.
no subject
I agree... I suppose nightmares have always had a way of twisting things, even outside of realms.
[ She shoots him a sympathetic look. ]
A lot of people have been helping me through my own nightmares. I'm sure that you've been a huge help to anyone whose nightmares you've seen.
no subject
[Though, how much of one he can't be sure. Having summoned a Nightmare Chirithy somehow in the past.]
I've done my best, though, it's hardly my strong suit. I'm glad you've been getting help as well.
no subject
[ She sighs. ]
Maybe at some point, everyone can get pulled into each other's good dreams instead. Though the idea of going into someone else's dreams at all is still a bit... I wonder, is it like going to other worlds?
[ Especially since there are many of them from different realms... ]
no subject
[Though, at her question, Ira thinks for a moment.]
In my own experience, not quite. Visiting another world, well...the world is it's own entity. People still live within that world, and have their own lives and go about their days. Unless you do something drastic, the world continues on no matter what.
Seeing someone's dreams feels closer to seeing their Heart. It's a bit more vulnerable and changing.
If that makes sense.
no subject
That does make sense, though. Having someone pulled into my dreams felt very different than if someone were to come visit me in the world I was from... at least, that's what I'd think.
[ Brows furrowed, she hums thoughtfully. ]
Since you travel to other worlds... maybe there really is a way to go to each other's realms outside of this. How... how hard is it to do something like that, you think?
no subject
What is your world like? It sounds like it's almost made up of several worlds?
[World being used as an all-encompassing word for the moment, since the concept of Planes is a new one for him.]
no subject
My world? Oh, well, to be honest, I'm probably not as knowledgeable about it as you are with yours, but... I do know that there are other planes that exist. There are ones that exist almost like their own worlds, and there are some that exist... almost like a layer on top of the material plane where most people live out their lines. These kinds of planes overlap closely...
no subject
[The idea of worlds upon worlds that closely is a little hard to imagine, but if they're all working together, that would make more sense.]
no subject
[ She fidgets with the handle of the teacup she's drinking from in thought. ]
Powerful enough magic can open gateways into these different planes, although I haven't quite figured that out yet... [ Not that she could at this point, being here and all. ] There is one such plane, called the Feywild, that is close enough that these gateways open naturally by themselves at certain times and places, but others like the Elemental Planes are harder to get to and navigate because they exist more... outside of the Material Plane.
no subject
Though, I'm curious to what these planes are like?
no subject
[ She rubs at the back of her head and chuckles shyly. ]
I wish I could tell you more! I just know that the Feywild is... well, it's a lot like the world we're in right now, actually. Lots of forests and woods with all sorts of magical creatures in it. And very... dreamlike.
no subject
[Though, Ira would like to see the spell sometime. And if it's similar to his own portals.]
If they're similar, perhaps there is a connection somehow. It sounds fascinating though.
no subject
I've suspected the same, if only to explain why some of my magic works, but others don't. A-Anyhow, thanks for always answering my questions about worlds and magic and whatnot, Ira. I do appreciate it.
no subject
[And it has helped to keep his mind off the blizzard outside.]
