[Mirai had been used to moving from place to place, never really set down roots ever since Cadavers take her family from her. When life became more dangerous, settling down in one spot no longer became advantageous for her. Sure she could fortify a structure to act as a temporary home, but eventually she would need supplies. Waking up here felt no different. There were no Cadavers to threaten what little life was left back home and there were living people here, lots of them, but it was for that reason that she felt that it was better for her to let everyone else have their pick of the land first.
She didn't have too many belongings coming here, so she had spent most of the time here camping out in odd locations. She mostly stuck to sleeping in trees, but on occasion she might migrate to other locations, doing her best to stay out of the way. You may want to watch out for that staff falling down, lest you be knocked on the head with it.]
Oh! I'm sorry!
[Normally she'd just hop down from the tree branch, but right now she probably should push her body more than it already has been. Instead, a leaf began to grow into a decent size, allowing her to get down safely before it disappeared.]
Are you okay?
[Feel free to question why she was sleeping in a tree.]
Home Improvement;
[Well, now that Mirai has been talked to about just finding a place to stay, she's finally started to think about building herself a home. The problem is that Mirai has never done anything like this. Were it as easy as relying on her magic to do all of the work, she probably would have relied on that. She'd used much more mana than she'd care to admit during her descent that led her here and had already pushed herself too far trying to help everyone else out here, magic was out of the question right now.
No. This was something that she had to do herself. Surely she could figure it out. She'd already gathered what wood planks she could gather and some tools, but she had no idea what to do. Idly staring at a poorly contracted frame that was far from finished, she let out a sigh, hammer in hand.]
I guess I would benefit if I drew out what I want to make first... This is a lot harder than it seems...
[Anybody want to help her out?]
Wildcard;
[As always, feel free to pitch any other ideas. You can find me on plurk atByefelicia. Because Mirai is an OC, you can find out more about her in her character information post.]

The size you got now ain't bad, neither. So ya draw it out and figure out where ya want some windows or how you'll do a roof and stuff.
[He reached into his pocket for an ordinary sewing kit. But for lack of an industrial, clunky-ass tape measure, he'll just have to rely on the little one provided inside.]
So, uh... gotta figure out how high up everything is, and how big the foundation is. That's a good start, I think.

[While he's looking in his pocket, she'll doodle down an idea for the first room. if nothing else, thinking of one room was much easier than an entire house right off the bat and give her some sort of shelter for the time being.]
Does this look doable? [Showing him her quick doodle.]
no subject
Yeah, that should work. Once ya know the measurements of everything you can build or magic up pieces and know it'll fit without wastin' time.
[He offered the tape.]
It ain't much but it's all I got.

Are you sure it's okay? I don't want to keep something you might need. I might try to use magic later, but for now, I think the old fashion way would be best. [She doesn't have the mana for that right now.] It might not be much, but I think it'll still be very useful.

[He rubbed the back of his head and sighed.]
Shit, I only learned it was real like a year ago!
no subject
[But while they idly chatted, she's doodling more ideas on the piece of paper for later on.]
So we would just start with measurements, right?
no subject
[He scratched his chin in thought.]
And... y'know, if I ain't a pain, I wouldn't mind magic tips. No, uh, 'mana' needed. I just can't make it work unless I'm freakin' out over somethin'.
Wait, shit- ...I'm Kanji, by the way.

It's nice to meet you, Kanji. Thanks so much for your help. I really appreciate it. My name is Mirai.

Mirai was alright.]
No problem, Mirai. If I come across anything interesting while workin' on my own treehouse I'll pay it forward.
In the meantime, I'll look around for some more spare wood. You good to measure?
no subject
I appreciate it, thanks. I'll do the same thing.
[Although her own treehouse might not look that pretty for a while.]
I'll be okay, yeah. Thanks so much for your help.

[One thing at a time. Wood first, then thinking about mud, moss for insulation from what he'd heard from someone else. He took off to get searching, knowing that a lot of people were foraging right now. Thankfully nobody was fighting, but people may start changing their mind as night after night came to those who weren't used to sleeping on grass.]
