Nuclear fusion, as the name implies, is the reaction where several atomic nuclei are fused together to form one heavier nucleus. So in the case of the sun, hydrogen is fused to become helium. Naturally, the environment within the sun's core is quite different from what we have on Earth- or any planet. In order to copy the fusion reaction on a smaller scale, certain criteria still need to be met and the fusion contained within a magnetic field to keep it stable. No human could survive in that sort of environment and that's what my assistants are for.
