{ lindwormeo and juliet }

LINDWORMEO & JULIET
It is the third dreamshift, and when everyone rouses and becomes aware of their situation, they find themselves dressed in Verona, a gothic city where night reigns everlasting and violence lurks around every corner. Not because of crime, but because of the two main families, the Montagues and the Capulets, everlasting feud. Fights break out almost every other minute and peace is hard sought after. However, peace is perhaps on the table, for the Capulets are hosting a grand masquerade in a gesture of truce. But it's difficult when one of Montague's sons is cursed as a Lindworm, one of the key reasons why there is a feud to begin with.
"But that's not really all that important," a voice echoes around them. It's a voice different from the tapirs that they've grown accustomed to, and after another moment it chimes in again. "Up here my fair little dreamwalkers."
And lo, high above in the permanent night sky is a moon so full and bright that it almost feels as if it could swallow them whole. After learning about the Story Eater's actions against Songerein's moon, the appearance of a face would certainly alarm many. But then the face seems to recede before it changes into a full person holding a quill and manuscript.

But it is now up to you to see this play through completion. Doing so will help those outside draw out the fiend through the accumulated dreamotion energy, and if you could give it a few stabs that will help as well. Not all of you need to partake in my play, and I have already chosen my leading actors and actresses. You should find a brief copy of the script on your person, but you may act however you wish. However, I should warn you—this is a tragedy, so deaths are expected. But fear not, you will leave this dreamscape perhaps a bit tired, but unharmed. It's all a dream after all.
Now that should cover it. I look forward to seeing how everyone's tragic romances will play out. It may give me material for my next masterpiece!"
And just as suddenly as he had appeared, Shakespeare disappears from the moon, leaving it to loom brightly over the otherwise dark city.
I. GENERAL PROMPTS

A. Family Feud. Everyone in Verona is randomly split in allegiance between the Montagues and the Capulets, and whenever they meet there is some kind of tension. It could be violent, hostile, passive, petty, or even attraction. Surely Romeo and Juliet aren't the only ones who can love across the aisle. If not pit against each other to fight or exchange snide comments, opposing parties can also work together to deal with Erasers posing as creepy looking family members/soldiers/knights/etc.
» BONUS: TO ARMS. A city-wide family feud makes for good business if you’re in the weapons-and-armor trade. Gather materials to help smithies in creating armor and weapons.

» BONUS: PREPARATIONS. Any good party requires a lot of preparation, and all of Verona is abuzz with activity leading up to the big night. Tailors need help getting fabric, jewels, and other baubles to create the finest dresses. Caterers need quality ingredients for the food that will be prepared and served. Someone needs to step up and be the band for the night. There are plenty of ways in which Dreamwalkers can help make the masquerade a success!

- PARIS V. JULIET. Paris meets and dances with Juliet, taking a fancy with her. With his arrogance believing he can win over the Capulet princess, throughout the night he attempts to woo Juliet, either in the ballroom or the gardens just outside. Juliet must not be swayed! (Or maybe a little swayed, but try not go totally off-book here). Juliet can shut down Paris however they want. (This scene happens during or immediately after the "Masquerade", but before the Balcony scene.)
- PARIS V. ROMEO. Paris bullies his younger brother about the Lindworm curse on a near-constant basis. And to add insult to injury, after meeting Juliet he’s decided that he wants Juliet for himself. Obviously, Romeo is not about to let his stupid mean brother steal the love of his life! They’re going to have to fight this one out, either with words or via fisticuffs. (This scene happens during or immediately after the "Masquerade" but before the "Balcony" scene.)
- BENVOLIO'S ATTEMPTS. Benvolio is trying to find a cure for Romeo's curse, and after some research in the library he finds something! Good cousin that he is, he puts the theory to the test immediately. Unfortunately, his attempt backfires and he gets turned into a lindworm (fully or partially) instead. The poor guy is now out of sorts, and he needs protection so that someone doesn't mistake him for some monster and kill him. At least the transformation is only temporary.
- TYBALT V. MERCUTIO. The infamous duel. Considering how much their families hate each other, the inciting incident can be just about anything. The original story has Tybalt goading Mercutio into a duel by calling Romeo a villain, Tybalt killing Mercutio, and Romeo killing Tybalt. But no one’s enforcing the particulars very closely here, so players are free to proceed with the fight any way they please. (If this fight does end in one or more deaths, please refer to the event details on how death works within the dreamscape.)

» BONUS: ROSE COLLECTION. In the forests are white and red roses that are hidden under logs and stones. They will sparkle a bit to make them look different than other flowers. They must be collected before the Erasers can get to them. A white rose fed to a lindworm will return them back to normal. Eating a red rose will allow characters to turn into a pink, heart covered lindworm for ten minutes to fly up and try to combat against the winged noctaere or the Erasers.
II. ROMEO AND JULIET'S OBJECTIVES

Click for objectives.
A. Love at First Sight. Time to get your party-crashing pants on, Romeo, because there is a masquerade that you are not invited to but are attending anyway. Who doesn’t love a good party? If you wear a mask, no one will know it’s you! Here Romeo and Juliet have the opportunity to meet and flirt and make goo-goo eyes at each other. And if they really want to get into the spirit of things, they can go into a laborious metaphor about how holding hands is super hot but kissing is way hotter. (Yes, really.) At this point Romeo's curse is only a partial transformation, something along the lines of scales down one side of his body.

C. Elope. Being the very mature and intelligent lovers that they are, Romeo and Juliet decide to get married after knowing each other for a whole day. Time to get to the chapel, meet with the Friar, and exchange vows. Shakespear will lend a helping hand by providing wedding attire fitting for those who are cast in their role. That's right, every Juliet will have their own special bridal dress, isn't he so considerate? And then it’s time to do whatever it is that newlyweds do, if that's what they are into. Otherwise, Romeo and Juliet will need to return home to prepare for their future.
D. Runaways. Juliet learns that she is being forced to marry Romeo's brother, Paris, which is a problem because she’s already married and also she doesn’t like that other guy anyway. In a major divergence from the source material, Romeo and Juliet decide to make a run for it instead of that whole poisoning-yourself business. It’s just a better idea all around. The goal is to get out of town undetected, which means that this is a stealth mission. Romeo and Juliet must follow a path and avoid getting caught. Whatever it takes to get past the guards and would-be snitches that would turn you in!

F. Tragic Ending. Upon learning of the young couple's running away, the Capulets have declared war with knights out hunting to kill Romeo and bring back Juliet. They are soon found and no matter what they do, death will await them. But how? Players can direct this however they want. Did the soldiers catch them? Did they decide that the whole double-suicide poison thing was a good idea after all? Does one tragically sacrifice themself to save the other? Does Romeo go full Lindworm and eat Juliet? The possibilities are endless. At this point Romeo is capable of turning into a full lindworm if he's taken the cure without Juliet's blood. If he drinks the cure with Juliet's blood, then he will revert to a normal human (teenager) with no extra powers.

Dohalim il Qaras (Romeo) & Hilda Valentine Goneril (Juliet)
Love at First Sight.
It'll be a good distraction for the weirdness of her actual romantic circumstances. Which don't exist, actually, so why is it even coming up.The excitement quickly wears off when she realizes that she's supposed to die at the end. Yeah, it's not going to actually kill her, but ugggggh it's super unfair. Tragedies are stupid. What's wrong with happy endings where the lovers ride off into the sunset together?! This sucks.
Well, at least this is all starting on the right foot. Who doesn't love an excuse to dress up and party? So here Hilda is, a blushing young beauty in pale red gown and long curls, waiting for her Romeo to approach.]

Jude Mathis (Romeo) & Leia Rolando (Juliet) Objectives (closed)
Love At First Sight.
What better way to start an event about tragic lovers than to involve two childhood best friends, one of which had harboured unrequited feelings for the other for most of her life. It played out a bit janky, there's awkwardness all around, and they quickly realized right away who the other was despite the disguises. The dance was awkward and there's a lot of stepping on toes, due mostly in part to Leia. The ground can't open up and swallow these two fast enough.
Balcony Scene.
The song on the balcony had been a complete disaster. At least when it was Leia and Alvin all those months ago in the Story Realm, Alvin could carry a tune and was, much to Leia's aggravation, fairly poetic, enough that he practically carried the scene. Her and Jude fumble along and it's fairly obvious neither were into it, or could carry a tune to save their lives. The song was some nursery rhyme from Rieze Maxia they'd heard when they were kids (the only thing they could come up with) and had absolutely nothing to do with the situation at hand.
Elope.
What could be more awkward and uncomfortable than two childhood friends getting married? Nothing. Nothing at all. During a quiet moment The Feelings take hold and the two nearly kiss. They both end up sleeping at opposite ends of the room from each other that night, leaving one or both potentially struggling with things.
Runaways.
They've broken into places before, this was a piece of cake... until Leia, far too focused on not making noise, trips, sending a ladder that had been leaning against a building toppling over and clattering to the ground. Judeworm attempts to carry her out, but Leia's not having it and the two beat a hasty retreat to a nearby village.]
(( special guest appearance by Marui/Paris ))
The Cure & Tragic Ending || Jude & Leia
But here she is, in an increasingly distressing situation. And something Jude had said earlier that day, not even to her, didn't put her in a particularly optimistic mindset.
Having come into this dreamscape with the sudden knowledge of what's about to transpire didn't lessen the blow, either. It started off awkward at most, she can feel subtle and significantly less subtle differences about her. Feelings she thought she had buried not long ago resurfacing, as if they were being wrenched out of her by this dreamscape. Like a punishment for never having been honest with herself or Jude years ago. It's all a little daunting, and at times, despite some of the sillier aspects of the dreamscape occurring, she hasn't really appeared much like herself.
It only got worse, because they ended up eloping not long after. The rush of emotions she felt having to marry her former crush, fake or not, were devastating. Uncomfortable. Feelings she didn't want or need pulling her in- and pulling her closer to Jude. She hadn't realized it when, during a quiet moment between them, they'd both leaned forward, closing the gap between them. The seconds it took felt like an eternity, and her heart was hammering away in her chest to a painful degree. They'd been mere inches apart, enough so that she could feel his breathe on her lips, when they both seemingly snapped out of it. Leia jerking back with enough force that she smacked her head against the wall, earning her a painful dose of reality. But the damage had been done, her heart aching both from the torment of being with Jude, and that she nearly kissed him when she has Marui.
To make matters worse, they get news that she's supposed to marry Paris... who just happens to be Marui in this dreamscape. She's not sure she can look him in the eyes right now, let alone try to stop everything from spiraling to its inevitable conclusion. Her need to run away isn't just to save Jude, or attempt to, it's to avoid having to see Marui when she's done the absolute worst thing she could've done. They manage to avoid being captured, and there's a faint glimmer of hope that they've somehow thwarted the supposed outcome waiting for them.
Forcefully tearing her back to the present is that Jude's affliction is becoming increasingly worse. Painful. He can barely move and Leia tries to set aside her own mental anguish to focus on trying to change their fate.
...
At present, they're currently holed up in a nearby village. It's small and not as well off as their town, but it seems like a good place to hide out while she struggles with everything that's happened. Jude's condition is worsening, the affliction both painful and unsightly. What the three old women told them, and more specifically her, rings through her head. The abandoned home they've found themselves in is dank and dreary, not unlike their situation at the moment. Leia is curled up on the dirty floor, hugging her knees to her chest, face buried in her arms, trying to control the anxiety plaguing her. The only light is the moon peering in through the broken windows and cracks in the walls. In her bag is a vial of her own blood that can help transform Jude back to his human form.
And she's struggling to work up the nerve to give it to him.
It feels wrong, not just because she'd have to lie about what it is... but where it came from. But Jude's a former medical student, he's going to know what it is the second she takes it out.
As she sits there, uncharacteristically quiet, her thoughts flit back to their near kiss, to how she felt in that moment. That odd, nearly freeing sensation she almost had, like a weight was about to be lifted from her shoulders. She might have moved on from Jude, but her inability to be honest about how she felt about him for so long still haunts her. This just made it worse. She hates this situation, hates the hopelessness of everything looming over them, and hates that she felt that way about him for even an instant. What's she going to do? It makes speaking to him awkward, but she has to do something for him if they're even to have the smallest chance to make it through this.
Fake or not... it's hard to think this is all an act when everything feels so very real. Her feelings aren't fake, Jude's pain isn't fake, and the people that want to hurt him are very much real...
Her arms tighten about her knees, emotions practically bowling her over, the reality of this reality sinking in ever deeper.]

Eustace (Romeo) 💖 Tifa (Juliet)
🎭 love at first sight.
The woman's voice ringing in Tifa's ears is what wakes her from this strange, sudden reverie, and she awakens to find herself staring out over the balcony to the carriages down below, and the last of their guests filtering in through the gardens. From here, she can hear the music—the strings playing a steady waltz in the ballroom—as well as the buzz from the people milling about in the gardens, and it reminds her...
Right.
"Pray, forget not thy mask, Lady Juliet."
There was to be a masquerade tonight, and she had been cast as the romantic lead in this intricate web of a play. There would have been someone better to choose than her, but she had promised to go along with it if it meant helping. Besides, it's not every day she gets to wear a dress such as this one or attend a fancy ball in her family's name. Capulet, it was, right? And her name was Juliet.]
Thanks...
[She accepts the decorative black mask from what she can only assume is her supposed lady-in-waiting, and fits it over her eyes, and the woman helps to lace it up in the back, behind the cascading waves of her hair before fixing those too, adjusting them on her shoulders before she makes her way down to the ball, where all eyes will surely be on her. The very thought of it rouses the nervous butterflies that flutter in her stomach and makes her heart thunder in her chest. Never mind the fact that this was supposedly a romance, but many of the guests were eagerly awaiting the arrival of the daughter of the Capulet family. Although, the mask might help to hide herself among the crowd.
Jessie would kill for a role like this...
Straightening her dress, Tifa makes her way to the doors, and the winding staircase that leads down into the main entrance, and the music and laughter grows louder with her descent. Only those nearest her spare a glance, even a polite bow or a curtsy, but lucky for her, and much to Tifa's relief, most people have already become so engrossed in their own conversations or dances to notice her.
It gives her time to give this ballroom a proper first look. High ceilings tower above her, and her heels click against the white marble floor below, and all around, there are trimmings of gold and velvet red. The large doors at the front entrance have been swung wide open, and the sweet smell of the rose gardens filters in to give the ballroom the romantic feel it was meant to have.
This is a love story, after all, but she is only one half of that story...
Tifa keeps her head down as she sticks near the walls, walking around the edge of the room while she watches others dance and mingle about, all looking like they are having a grand time. She dodges one man who—after he introduces himself, Tifa learns is a son of the Montague family—is quite persistent in his pursuit of a dance with her... "Just one!" he promises, but she shakes her head and rushes away to continue her search.
For whom, exactly?
Why, the other half of this love story.
However, no matter how many pairs of eyes she meets from across the room, she only ends up feeling more displeased than the last. As if she's looking—hoping—for one man in particular to be the one she owes a dance to, even if she may not realize it. But he's nowhere to be found among the many masked visitors.
Eventually, she finds a side door leading out to the empty gardens on the sides of the castle, where the beds are filled with bushes covered in white roses all around her, with little fireflies flitting about them, bathing the roses in their warm orange glow. Taking up a spot against the wall, she heaves out a sigh. Maybe she was being too hopeful.
Wherefore art thou, Romeo...]

Ira | OTA
[Despite the invitation, as someone who has been aligned with the Montagues for this production, Ira feels a little out of place at the party. Granted that could also be because he's a little on the anti-social side, but regardless Ira retreats to the garden. It's quieter out here, though the sounds of either preparation or party can be heard and while Ira feels like he shouldn't go too far, maybe it's worth exploring.
He finds himself among a rose garden off to the side, admiring a topiary bush when he notices a small treasure chest tucked off to the side. He wanders over, and with a flash, summons his keyblade to give it a tap. Didn't someone say they were searching for jewels earlier? It's probably a good thing he came outside.]
Have you seen any other chests like this?
B. The Lindworm in the Library
[This was an unexpected development.
And another reminder that really, Ira does not know a lot about dreamscapes and is going to need to learn. He had been curious about the library anyway, but unaware that stepping into it would pull him into a role of sorts. Compelled by Benvolio to research a cure, Ira now finds himself a lindworm. And hiding under table, but he's not sure how long that's going to last.
And so he sends out a message over the crystals.]
HELP!
C. I Must Confess, I Love Drama
[Transformations and treasure hunting aside, Ira is also keeping an eye out for Erasers and Nocturea while they are in the dreamscape. As a Keyblade Master, he's pretty sensitive to Darkness and other similar disturbances and is starting to get the hang of forcing out the creatures.
Enough that he's starting to notice the big boss flying around. Though, how to draw it out?]

Luca | OTA
[ Ah, this feels more familiar to Luca. Not so much the setting, but the recreation of the story with a twist. So he goes about integrating into the setting. While he's got no reason to confront strangers over petty things, he does show contempt for the enemy if he doesn't just give them the cold shoulder. Other family members get a different reaction from him, more of the friendly presence he usually has.
He's doing okay getting into the role, but there's just one problem: he occasionally forgets he's supposed to be a Capulet.
So if he suddenly gives a warm greeting to a Montague or snubs someone from his own faction, that's why. ]
BENVOLIO'S ATTEMPTS
[ Anyone walking into the main library right now will be greeted by piles of neatly stacked books everywhere. Just dozens and dozens of books, many of them about magic and dragons and fairy tales.
Luca’s in the middle of this organized chaos, pouring through everything he can find. ]
Come now, there must be something here… [ He mutters spells from the ancient tome in his hand, but there doesn't seem like anything that could-- Oh? What's this? ]
Draco Metamorphosis… AHA! This might be the cure!
A Duel to the Death
[ It was impossible to mistake this fellow for his friend. The bastard rushed to attack him on sight! Fortunately, Luca was able to summon his cutlass in time to parry that bastard's sword. ]
Hah! Thought you could catch me off guard, sir? Have at you!
[ Sword Fighting ensues. The bastard is tough, but Luca's surprisingly handy with a blade. Adrenaline is converted to electricity within him, and soon sparks begin to dance across his blade with increasing intensity. As he reaches maximum charge, he finds an opening and slashes his sword into the bastard's side.
The bastard bursts like an ink filled water balloon.
Hold on. Ink? Luca wipes some of what splattered on his face to check, and yes that is indeed ink. And papers. And a smoldering ashy mark where the bastard once stood. ]

Hunter De Vil | OTA
[ If Hunter didn’t know better, he’d have said Shakespeare would have been rolling in his grave.
But this is Shakespeare’s dream, the guy was in the blinkin’ moon, and now we have lindworms in Romeo and Juliet.
What even is a lindworm anyway?
The notebooks haven’t come with anyone, but Hunter’s looking at his crystal lantern thing and getting ideas. His happens to look like one of those smart speakers that connects to your phone… Not that he has his phone here, but it’s worth a shot? ]
Hey! Does anyone know what a lindworm even looks like?
[ He thinks talking to it will work, but the message is sent telepathically anyway. ]
Masquerade Prep
[ So we need materials for the costumes, eh? Hunter’s all for that! He’s already made himself a list of fabrics he might need to somehow obtain and is currently checking it twice… ]
‘Kay, anything polyester is right out… Velvet might be hard to find, but manageable… [ The kid clicks his tongue. This is proving harder than it looked. He turns to the nearest person with a raised brow. ] You think this place has satin readily available somewhere?
Puppy Love... Is a Battlefield?
[ Oh no. At some point late in the dreamscape, Hunter finally got distracted. Maybe he mistook a courier for a postman, or perhaps he came across a stray stick. Maybe something else entirely. Whatever happened, the stupid dog brain acted up in a place where his dreamotion energy was strongest. When he snapped out of it, he found himself in the form of an actual puppy dog.
The boy was mortified at first. Just as the dog thing couldn’t possibly get worse… How is he supposed to change back? Is he stuck like this? Will he have to live like a literal dog again? This is the worst!
Or is it? This form does have a keen sense of smell, and he’s getting a whiff of something… Floral? Roses? The scent’s leading to some sparkling roses… If this dream’s running on video game logic, he must have stumbled upon something useful.
And so Hunter uses his new form to his advantage. Carrying red and white roses in his mouth is not the most pleasant experience, but there really isn’t any other way he can get them to anyone who seems like they’d need it. He doesn’t wanna get too close to the battles and/or lindworms, so he hopes he’s at least close enough to attract attention… Assuming people can still understand him after he drops the roses at his feet for a moment. ]
HEY! OVER HERE!
WILDCARD!
[ Hunter got assigned to Montague, and will tend to hang around other family members when he can. Feel free to hit me up at
Wherefore art thou... A lindworm?
If I recall correctly, a Lindworm is a cross between a snake and a dragon. That is to say, it has the body of a snake and the head of a dragon. No wings, I believe, though I don't know whether this is decided by artist interpretation.

MASQUERADE & WILDCARD (OPEN)
emil västerström ▶ ota
❰ if everyone wasn't forced to be here, emil would have nothing to do with any of this. he's very much a 'focused on his own life and no one else's' kind of guy. it's a small saving grace that he isn't a big enough asshole to drop all of this fabric he's holding and bolt (there's some textile pun in there somewhere.
the plan was to be somewhere that wasn't on the street, which the masquerade hall is as good a place as any. at least he can try and mind his business while also eating something. however, he's arrived a little bit too early and happened upon a bustling crowd of people preparing. first it was one bolt of fabric thrust at him, and then another before he even had time to complain. now he's accepted his fate of being 'that guy assigned to hold all the fabric'.
it's hard to even see that there IS a guy behind all of it, with how much it cascades down from the stack. emil isn't that tall to begin with, so if you were to currently mistake him for just a pile of inanimate objects. the grumbling he's doing to himself is curse-laden, but also smothered by the bulk of material.
— until he's bumped into by a hurrying npc carrying a large rug, smacking emil backwards and into a pile of fluttering fabrics on the floor. the yelp he lets out is much louder and undignified, even though the only physical sign that there's still a man under all of that is the tip of his boot sticking out from around the bottom. ❱
— masquerade proper
❰ the actual concept of a masquerade emil can take or leave — what's up with the masks? why would you want to dance with people you don't know? ludicrous.
so the main draw is the food, which he'll never object to. he's also luckily got a few ripped pieces of fabric he's fashioned into little pouches after that whole almost-suffocating-in-satin. since in his mind this is all made up and doesn't matter at all, no one will complain if he swipes a very large number of desserts from the table, slipping them into an aforementioned pouch. half of this stuff he doesn't even know what it is, evident by how he picks up a small merengue inquisitively. ❱
Can you even eat...? ❰ his eyebrows raise with his whisper, before a shrug, and it goes into the sack. the ramifications of eating dreamscape desserts will be discovered later. in the meantime, there's a tower of biscuits he's got to shove into another sloppily tied knapsack. ❱
Masquerade Prep
(Anya just so happens to be walking by to get the bolts of fabrics for the masquerade ball when she witnesses Emil getting bumped by the NPC rushing. She drops everything she was doing to run towards him to help him out.)
Um, hello. Do you need some help in getting up?
(Pooka is also barking in concern, his head craned to see the piles of fabrics covering most of his body at the moment.)

All players are expected at the masquerade, however, and it's there that he learns that both of his partners are a part of the opposing house. Which is irksome, but hardly insurmountable. This event is meant to be something of a truce, right? So there's no reason for him to avoid them tonight.
He spies Ori fussing over a floral centerpiece, and goes to stand next to her.]
You know, Miss Montague, my family went to great lengths to put this event together. The least you can do is actually allow yourself to partake in the festivities.
[After giving his "in character" greeting, his expressions softens and he adds:]
You look beautiful tonight, Ori.

Alastor | Hazbin Hotel | All Open Prompts
"Two households, both alike in dignity,
In fair Verona, where we lay our scene,
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
From forth the fatal loins of these two foes
A pair of star-cross'd lovers take their life;
Whose misadventured piteous overthrows
Do with their death bury their parents' strife.
The fearful passage of their death-mark'd love,
And the continuance of their parents' rage,
Which, but their children's end, nought could remove,
Is now the two hours' traffic of our stage;
The which if you with patient ears attend,
What here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend."
Alastor chuckled as he finished the recitation, sipping from a cup of coffee. It was easy to see the story at play here, and a few of the denizens of this place cast him quizzical or scornful looks -- particularly since apparently he'd been designated as a Montague for this sad pantomime -- but he didn't care. He set the cup back down on the saucer, watching some unnamed Capulet and Montague begin to duel in the street.
"Pretty words and noble actions but ultimately so very pointless." He turned his head just enough to look over at the sound of someone's approach. "Don't you agree?"
Masquerade - Performance
The entire thing is nonsense. The ending to this sad play was decided the moment it began. Perhaps others were trying to avert the inevitable disaster, but not Alastor.
No, he was far, far more interested in the orchestra.
Specifically the violin. It'd been ages since he'd touched one even back in Hell. Running the bow across the strings, his ears twitched with pleasure at the sound of the music. Someone overheard him playing backstage and invited him to fill in for the violinist who'd foolishly abandoned his instrument to indulge in one too many cups of wine. So now there was a rather tall, red-and-black-furred monster among the performers.
At the moment, he stood alone with minimal accompaniment, gently swaying along with eyes closed and a soft smile on his lips as he performed a violin solo while the rest of the performers took a break. Once the song was over, it'd be his turn to take a rest while the refreshed orchestra took up the music again.
Let others waste their time on the tragedy. He was perfectly happy to indulge in a pleasure he'd long been denied.
Masquerade - Mingling
After the violinist he'd replaced had sobered up, Alastor was left to his own devices, wandering the crowd. Still, he kept glancing towards the orchestra, coveting that beautiful violin and wanting to play it again.
"Pardon me!" he apologized when he bumped into someone. "I wasn't paying attention!"
Fiddling While Verona Burns
There was fighting in the streets as the young couple fled. The climax of the tragedy was upon them. Blood was spilled everywhere, the combatants too obsessed with making their foes bleed to realize that it all ran the same in the end.
But if one were to listen closely, they'd hear the sound of a violin drifting on the wind. Following it would lead to Alastor's perch on the railing of an overhead balcony as he indulged in the violin's sound one last time before this whole play would be over and the lovely instrument would be left behind as he was spirited back to Reverein. As much as he wished to keep it, the instrument belonged in this world, not the one he himself was a visitor in.
His shadow guarded his back, gazing towards the newcomer with a wicked smile, eager for someone who might think to silence Alastor to engage it.
Masquerade (mingle)
So he approached Alastor with very little hesitation, and while he was about to speak up, it turned out there's no need for it. The person outright bumped into him. Yujin hastily took a step back, shaking his head with a smile.
"Please, don't worry about it. It's fine," he said. "I must say, you're quite a skilled violin player."

Diluc Ragnvindr | Closed Starters
Thoma ~ Masquerade
But they have their parts to play, especially with the dreamscape urging them onward, and Diluc's is that of a Capulet. He has no reason to resist it, all things considered.
During the masquerade, he finds Thoma out in the gardens and approaches. Their random assignments have placed Thoma in House Montague, so despite their usual affection there's an uncurrent of tension between them as he settles in next to him and looks out at the rosebushes. Casually, he bites down on his thumb before flicking it forward out of his mouth.]
I believe that's the appropriate way to greet you, given our opposing sides.
[Yes, he read the script. And yes, that is a smirk on his face.]

Otto Octavius | OTA
But the Dreamscape did not differentiate between your average Dreamwalker and a Dreamwalker who's been put in a time-out, so here he is. While it's an improvement in some ways, it's also detestable from other angles. He hates Shakespeare. He already didn't like it when he was younger, but it's so much worse now. It reminds him of his late wife, who studied English Literature and would often attempt to have him appreciate these stories. And he's a Capulet, apparently.]
[Feud (To Arms):]
[After everything that happened earlier in the month, he's avoiding people even more actively than before. Or so he intended, anyway. But then he found out the smithies are asking for materials to make weapons and armor. And it's tempting- so very tempting to just slip these materials into a big burlap sack and attempt to take them home when the Dreamshift ends. He restrains himself, though. The last thing he needs is even more time in that stupid prison tree.
Anyone passing by a local smithy will spot Otto using his mechanical arms to help lift large metal sheets and move anvils around. All that hard work that your average human being may have trouble with. There's a bit of sweat on his brow, but that originates more from the heat of the smithy than the actual chores. It's for that same reason that he removed his jacket, exposing a plain white shirt with some ruffles around the sleeves. (this fashion sucks and he hates it.)
Look, on rare occasion he can be helpful. Especially when there's something in it for him. And if a few smaller smithy tools and metals end up in his pockets anyway, well... That was clearly accidental.]
[Masquerade:] (Light TW for alcohol consumption)
[Otto outright refuses to participate in the masquerade. He refuses. Still, he knows he needs to be nearby in case something happens. For that reason, he's sitting on a low wall out in the garden, a short distance away from the building and the buzz of the party. He has a stiff drink in one hand, but that's not all. A bottle of brandy stands on the wall by his side, and as soon as his glass is empty, one of the actuators will lift that bottle for a refill.]
Thank you, Flo.
[Who's Flo? That's the tentacle, of course. Gosh, did you think they don't have names? This isn't Otto's first glass of the evening either, so he's a little more talkative and a little less of a sourpuss now.]

Anastasia Romanova | Anastasia (1997)
(While it has been a long while since Anya was in a big ball, it turns out that her sewing skills are of viable help, especially when she learns that the tailors are in need of gathering materials for clothes and other items for the masquerade ball the Capulets are hosting, and since she is placed on their (Capulet) side, she does her best to impress them in anyway she can.
Granted, the dress she ends up wearing in doesn’t scare lowly maiden, but Anya was taught at an early age not to let her hands go idle for so long and living in an orphanage solidifies it even further. So there she is, looking through the list of materials needed while Pooka yawns from napping. If there is someone else nearby, she would greet them by waving before she tells them what task she is dealing with.)
Okay, finding fabrics and threads for the ball shouldn’t be this hard. Want to accompany me and Pooka to do the chore?
Masquerade Ball
(As the night time enters into the scene, Anya begins to dread about running into anyone from the Montague side and getting into fights with them, despite the fact that she has been sorted into the Capulets. This is supposed to be a happy party, not an all-out brawl. The mask she wears shimmers brilliantly as she dances with other party guests in the ballroom. Or perhaps she could be seen enjoying the music and food & drinks while Pooka is taking a nap by her side, undisturbed by the music and chattering of the guests.
If your character is on the Capulet side, there is a good chance that she will feel unusually at ease upon meeting them, while if they are on the Montague side, she will be very hesitant about interacting with them at first (because it’s Romeo and Juliet, duh).)
Love is a Battlefield
(The whole town has gotten very chaotic and she is not liking where this is going. She would be busy, taking people away from the winged Noctaere’s arrows. But even throughout the chaos, she doesn’t give up on hope and begins to freeze up the ground any minions are standing on while singing to them to calm them down, slowly weakening them in the process. And yes, she does have a basket of white and red roses slung against her forearm for good measure.
Now while doing so, she notices that one Eraser that has its eyes on her and attempts to charge after her. Honestly disturbed, she raises her hand up in hopes that it will stop, only for a beam of light to come out of her hand and blast it away from her while possibly blinding it temporarily. She is quite shocked to learn that she has unlocked a new element in her arsenal, but she doesn’t complain about it too much. She will take what she is given and use it well to the best of her abilities.)
Rose Petals
(While the other dreamwalkers are handling the fight, Anya joins in gathering the magical red and white roses with Pooka sniffing them out to cure the affected back to normal. While searching for any sparkly roses under logs and rocks, she and Pooka find another dreamwalker also doing the same task, hoping that they can help them out as they approach them.)
Hi, perhaps me and my dog can help you in gathering the roses to save the people of Verona. Want to team up and get as many as we can?

Kor Meteor (Romeo) & Zelda (Juliet) | Closed
Balcony
But when he set eyes for the very first time on who was to be his partner in all this, he began to understand. Maybe. Zelda was in the same boat as he was, after all. His brief glimpse into her emotions in a previous encounter showed him that she too has a loved one that she misses dearly, and yet presses on with all she has despite that. In that regard, the two of them had a connection, didn't they? They both had people they loved dearly, and they both had a duty to push forward in life, for their sakes.
When he thought about it like that, it made a lot more sense. Maybe this dreamscape picked up on that connection the two of them shared? Or maybe there was some other reason. But whatever the case, they were in this together now.
As the party faded off into a distant memory, Kor sought out Zelda's balcony, curious to start the next scene.
But soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Zelda is the sun!
[The words roll off his tongue naturally, with every bit of passion emphasis that they should. He was guided by the essence of the character he was supposed to be playing, but Kor was naturally an emotive, expressive person, unabated by his own inhibitions when it came time to act. In a situation like this, he was in his element.]

That, she can do something about. The promise of getting to fight even makes the outfit she's been saddled with a little less uncomfortable, and the fact that it's going to be with a sword she's unfamiliar with? Hell, the challenge only adds to the fun.
