Wild Harvest Open Log
Who: Anyone!
Which: Open mingle
Where: The Wild Harvest, located on the ground floor of Kazuma's home.
What: Open Log to use the Wild Harvest setting all month.

The Wild Harvest is a small neighborhood pub that's been open for two months now. Right next to the pub is a garden, part of it growing into the pub itself. There's a herb station setup if people want to grab something to add to their dishes, though at the moment, the selection is limited until they can grow more plants. There are garnish and spice noodle dragons also roaming about, and they will occasionally add a little extra to a customer's food or drink, if allowed of course.
The menu itself is moderately simple, listing various eastern and western style street food dishes. There is also a note that reads: Can request something to be cooked off menu, as long as there are ingredients.
A sign has been put up near the entrance, listing the specials for the month.
Burger Sliders (Vegan Option Available)
Fish and Chips
Japanese-Style Curry (Vegan Option Available)
Rosemary Nightfall
(Blueberries and rosemary-based with gin, vodka, or club soda for non-alcoholic.)
Note: Meat will vary depending on what's available for the day.
Other notable changes is a small area nearby the bar has been cleared of tables. There were dream speakers and a microphone set up there now. Wonder what's up with that...? There are also garden snakes hanging around the garden area now. Perfect to handle any pest trying to eat the plants. They're harmless, just very shy. So they may slither away if someone tries to approach them.
For the first half of the month, Kazuma and Soldier 76 are not available.
[OOC: This is basically an open mingle log for people to use the pub setting for whatever they like between characters, not just with the employees. Both Pub and garden area are open to the public. ]

Susato Mikotoba | open! (latter half of March)
Of course, she would never intentionally sabotage the Wild Harvest, so she keeps focused on her work. She can be found in the kitchen most of the time, enjoying the fact that it feels whole again, thanks to the return of The BoysTM; but when she's not there, she's getting ingredients from the garden.
She has a head of lettuce in one arm and is picking off tomatoes for making burgers when she is startled, nearly dropping everything. Definitely a few tomatoes.
The culprit? A small garden snake, who seems just as shocked as she is, hurriedly slithering its way under the vine. ]
Wait! ...Not again. I told you I'm not going to hurt you. You just need to stop scaring me. [ Not on purpose. She huffs, and the snake pokes out its head from the vines to hiss a response. ] What do you mean, that tomato almost hit you?! [ DID NOT..........she will quietly be picking those up now, thanks. ]
(( ooc: open to karaoke shenanigans, snakes or whatever else! PM or hit me up at
no subject
he bends down to pick it up, heading towards susato. )
Uh—
( she's not looking his way but... she has to be talking to him, right? there was no one else around so— he'll just hold out the tomato for her to take. )
I mean, it hit. But it was really more of a roll...
no subject
Ah-- ]
Th, Thank you...? [ No, she has no idea why she phrased that like a question, thank you for not asking. She takes the tomato when it's offered, though, seeming to snap out of it. ] It's good to see you again, Ren-kun.
oof, so sorry, i had to take an unplanned hiatus ;; lmk if you'd rather handwave and move on, nw
( the sudden slithering doesn't escape him, as his brow knits together, trying to put two-and-two togtether. )
Or... were you not talking to me?
( it probably wasn't too weird to be talking to the snakes, he figures.
it's not like they were talking back or anything! haha! ha... )
it's okay! do you want to try to do something for the flower fest in a couple days instead?
I, I was--! Er... I am now?
[ ANYWAY... ]
H, How are you? Are you hungry?
flower festival works for me if you dont mind another tag-in over there!! i will just ftb on this...
( dream habits die hard? or something... )
It seems I'm always meeting you when I'm hungry, but whatever it is you've got cooking here smells great. It's— ( sniff sniff ) curry, right?
i don't mind another tag-in at all :] drown me in flowers
It is. I could bring you a plate, though I actually came to the garden for some more ingredients for our sliders.
[ Why are they called sliders? She should ask 76, if she ever remembers. ]
OTA | Second Half of the Month
[It was nice to be back in the kitchen, strangely enough. Different from being out in the farmlands and laboring for the few farmers to help ensure a good harvest- the reward of which he was going to ensure went to The Wild Harvest. Get some produce choice picks for foods he and Susato could whip up.
He was also plagued by the Spice and Garnish little dragons, as if they had missed his presence in the place. At any time he was in the garden or even in the kitchen or sitting at the bar there was always one or two perched on his shoulders.]
Surprised any of you noticed- had plenty to keep you busy, right?
[... Yes, he was talking to them.]
Got a Request Order?
A. Breakfast Feasts
[Early, when the place could be visited for breakfast the scent of bacon and something sweeter wafted from the kitchen area, 76 visible enough at the stove from the bar counter.
Bacon, flapjacks, eggs, rice-
Easy enough to catch his attention.]
Not a bad day to candy the bacon with honey and syrup. I wonder-
[... Some of the bacon may end up sparkly due to the use of dream honey.]
B. Lunch or Dinner
[While still in the kitchen, 76 also took breaks and simply set out in the pub itself, either with something to eat or some tea rather than going for any of the alcohol for the most part. Of course he tended to wear his mask and not really eat when the place felt a little too crowded for him. Oddly there seemed to be a few streaks here and there of a glowing shade of blue in his hair, peppered about otherwise nearly white hair.
Of course that crowded feeling often led him to at times sit in the garden, watching the snakes slither by quietly. Check on a few of the herbs, or carefully remove one of the spice or garnish noodle dragons from a pathway where it was sunning.]
Come on, you know better than that. Gonna get you to a higher warm spot.
C. Need a Drink
[Otherwise? Well, he could occasionally be caught at the bar closer to dinner when not in the kitchen, sipping at a drink. Just savoring the taste -and the burn when me of the honey moonshine he made was used in it- while still wearing the tactical visor part of his mask.
The face guard was well within reach on the bar counter top, and without it on the same odd little streaks of glowing blue appeared in his facial hair was apparent as well.]
Wildcard
[Mix and match offered prompts, or bring your own! Okay to PM me if something in particular is wanted.]
BREAKFAST - keep the food rolling
So you know that the boy is going to be slipping into this pub and catches sight of that old guy again.
More importantly. ]
You can candy bacon?
🥓
[And it looked like he knew what he was doing with that pan he had. Sure, he was flipping the bacon over to make sure it was crispy, but also so it would caramelize in the sweet mixture he had going.
His head tipped a little as he spoke.]
Maple and bacon pretty much goes hand in hand.
no subject
Maple. As in the tree?
[ Uh oh. Someone doesn't know about maple syrup. ]
no subject
[There was a little dish suddenly filled with a little more than just a taste of the maple syrup, moving it within reach from where he stood.]
You can smell it already, but have a taste. Most folks like it on their flapjacks, waffles, too. Others like it over more savory foods to add a touch of sweetness, and it does go well over other sweet things- or mixed right on in with the rest of the ingredients.
[Breakfast twist on any meal was always good, okay.]
no subject
[ Syrup is sweet. Sap is... Well Vanitas figures that it would probably taste something like tree. Whatever tree would taste like.
Now he's look at the dish almost in disbelief. Vanitas doesn't entirely seem convinced. He's supposed to have a taste so he does just that. He'll continue listening in the interim. ]
no subject
[The syrup? Would taste nicely sweet and like it was ready to go over a large helping of pancakes- or anything else, really. Maple syrup always had a distinct sort of flavor, after all.
The candied bacon was being set aside to cool off while he whipped up some flapjacks, the scent of citrus filling the air when he zested one for the batter. Was some cinnamon added in as well, all the better to go with the candied bacon.]
no subject
But it does taste sweet. So it's entirely passable in his book. Vanitas can acknowledge that this is something that he'd probably eat on waffles or pancakes. Mostly he'd had fruit in the past. ]
For someone that can bend metal, you seem to like this domestic stuff.

I was born and raised on a farm, had to do something to fill the time with a lifetime of military service and suddenly stuck behind a desk to keep my hands busy. Had several years where I didn't have time, but this place has once again pulled the rug out from under me and I gotta find ways to keep busy.
[Which is how Vanitas suddenly had a nice stack of fluffy as fuck cinnamon maple pancakes in front of him with a large helping of candied bacon with it.]
Need anything to drink? We've got a few choices of fruit flavored milk, juice, tea, and coffee.

Alastor | OPEN (Early March)
The place was rather quaint if a good bit different from what he was used to seeing. "Pubs" weren't exactly common in the New Orleans of his time, and if he ever went to one in Hell, the place would be cleared out of customers and staff within seconds.
It didn't help that looking over the menu, he got more and more lost.
"What is 'vegan'?" he wondered aloud.
no subject
She stops. Burgers aren't really her specialty, but she's certainly been making them. Their slider versions were actually super cute.
"It's an option without meat," she answers. "Some people do not like it, or do not eat it for religious reasons. A substitute made of plants is used instead. Is that something you wanted to try?"
no subject
"Ah, thank you, but no! Meat is actually a rather large portion of my diet as you can likely tell."
He flashed her a fanged grin, and he'd turned just enough for her to see the clawed hands holding the menu.
"Though thank you for explaining it, my dear! And if you've the time, I'd appreciate it if you'd answer another question for me: What is curry? I don't think I've heard of it at all, much less 'Japanese-style'."
Yeah, that was another one that wasn't big in New Orleans of his time. Burgers and fish and chips? Those were familiar...even if he hadn't the foggiest what "sliders" meant.
no subject
She trails off somewhat as she regards Alastor, however, suspecting that spices probably won't be a problem.
no subject
He smiled at her.
"This curry of yours sounds delightful! I'd love to try it!"
no subject
"Excellent! May I have a name for that order?" she asks, "And would you like anything to drink? We have all sorts of tea, coffee, or freshly-squeezed juice, if you'd like something sweet. There's always water as well."
no subject
He loved a good strong cup of black coffee, but he knew the bitterness would likely affect how he tasted this new dish. He could always order a coffee later.
no subject
Which tend to run pretty sweet, incidentally.
"A cold juice. Perhaps mango, or strawberry? I can make it a smoothie, if the weather is not too cold for you." She can also add milk, but seeing as how Alastor didn't seem too concerned about spice, she'll maybe wait to offer.
no subject
A New York accent floated through his memory, the image of a spider demon accompanying it: "He looks like a strawberry pimp!"
His smile twitched with mirth. "How about strawberry?"
