[A - Communal Garden]
Kazuma never thought he'd have a green thumb until his experience in the Realm of Stories revealed he actually liked taking care of plants. So when he heard about the communal garden, he of course wanted to check it out.

There were some empty patches when he visits, others already in use. He probably should have brought something to plant as well, something to keep in mind for next time. The garden was rather lively with it's magical frogs and fish too. It's honestly a nice setup, even if he finds the singing a bit overdone. There are some overgrowth and weeds that were missed here and there and, without thinking, Kazuma starts to work on removing them.

If he's not doing that, he's tending to what's already been planted or helping others plant things into the soil bed.

[B - The Cluckening]

What in hellspawn thought to create giant chickens? Giant by chicken standards at least. Kazuma had found a few wandering around his treehouse this morning, probably to pick at the grubs. There's even a rooster, making it's cock-a-doodle morning call and blocking Kazuma from leaving. Unlike the docile chickens, the rooster proved to be one aggressive beast. He dodges a swipe from it's claws that dig into the bark of the treehouse as he manages to pass through the door.

"Tch. Stupid bird!" This is not how you convince someone to eat chicken. The rooster doesn't seem done with him though, and puffs himself up in a threatening display. Not wanting to have these birds lingering around his home, he draws his blades, stands his ground and they enter a stare down. Who will make the first move?

Everything I learned about flowers, I learned from a friend.

[Is that a single yellow lily sprouting in the dirt next to her new tomato stands? It could be. She does miss having Aerith around, and she thinks her friend would be delighted to know that she's gotten a garden going, and Tifa had thought about her through the entire process.

And she would laugh at how confused she looks about these damn tomatoes...]

But I guess I will... There weren't a lot of places to plant anything back home. The soil would just kill anything in it... so this is all new to me.

Sounds like a rough place. [Where did that yellow lily come from...?]

If you can't plant things, what did you do for food...? Just meat products?

We had fruits and vegetables.

[She stands upright and presses another stand into the dirt, lining it up with the other two, and then pulls it out and moves it slightly closer after measuring it again.]

They were just pretty hard to come by, and expensive when you did. Most of it would be transported in from places outside the city.

Ah, I see. [His attention moves away from the lily, looking at what was left to do. He picks up one of the stands.]

Here. You measure and I'll put these into the dirt. [It'll go faster this way.]

[Yes, sir! Tifa's already getting to work in laying out this stick ruler, one at a time for him to jam the poles into the dirt.]

So, what kind of herbs did you like to grow?

[She doesn't know much about those either, but... that might be something helpful to have tucked away for later.]

A lot of sage. [Whether by choice or not, the home he had in the Realm of Stories just came with bucket loads.]

Some rosemary, feverfew, the last one can be a hassle as they tend to grow and spread into everything easily. Though as the name says, it helps with fevers and headaches.

[Sage, rosemary... those ones she's familiar with and would often try hard to get those herbs for her cooking, as rare as they were. Going Topside would yield her better or cheaper results, but sometimes that wasn't an option.]

I've never heard of feverfew before. I'm sure if we ever needed to, I could build another bed just for those...

[Rising again, Tifa looks around at the gardens. They're nothing fancy or special, and there aren't too many beds at the moment, but there's plenty of room to expand if they had to...]

...Hm. [He scratches his chin thoughtfully.] Have you considered attaching a shop to the garden? Anything excess people could purchase for their own use.

You mean a shop to sell what we grow?

[She hadn't even considered the idea before, damn her for not thinking of it sooner! But it does sound like a great idea... if she's on the right track with that.]

We could bring those funds back in and put them into the garden...

[Can he see the gears already turning in her head, and in the glint of her eye?]

[A nod.] It seem like a natural progression once this place grows a few things. I'll pitch in if I'm available.

[She's already imagining what that might look like.]

We could put a little stand over there... Oh, and if we could get bigger planters...

[Tifa's finger comes up to tap thoughtfully at her chin.]

I was thinking something like stones, or... would that be too much?

Why not? You have room to expand. [He crosses his arms, giving her a reassuring smile.] Besides, you help create this place. It can have whatever you want.

That might be a little more work than I've got cut out for me.

[In her head, she had thought something more like marble, but that would be a bit much to try getting to work. She's handy, but she's no professional... So, something simpler it is.]

I'm sure there's someone around here who knows how to do those kinds of things? [She gestures to Asougi.] I mean, here you are, teaching me how to plant tomatoes.

Well...while I am interested in gardening, I'm not an expert. [He's sure not skill in making stone planters.]

Evenso, I'm sure you'll get the help you need if you ask around. Even if they're not interested in gardening, they may have the skills you're looking for to create your planters and whatever else. [He puts his hands on his hips, a confident grin on his face.] Besides, I get the impression that everyone in this dream world is here, because they want to help with something.

[He isn't wrong about that last part. Everyone she's met so far has wanted to do something to help this world recover from whatever it is that ruined it so much in the first place, herself included, and what better way than to get the plant life back to thriving again?]

What about you, then?

[She starts to sprinkle the tomato seeds into the dirt, creating small trenches for them beneath the posts.]

There any special reason you're here?

[It seems like a more loaded question than it actually is. She isn't expecting a deep, meaningful answer.]

. . . [That question can certainly be just about anything. The garden, the world itself? He doesn't answer immediately, walking away for a moment to get an available watering can nearby. When he returns, he'll start to water the tomato seeds that have already been placed into the soil.]

I suppose, I want to make a difference here. [He left a mess in the Realm of Stories, things back home aren't any better. Maybe here, he hope things will be different, that he'll do better.]

[It's a very general answer to a very general question—ask and you shall receive, but it makes Tifa smile as she digs another small hole for more seeds so he can continue to water down their little line.]

Making a difference can be something as small as planting some fruits, or changing the world.

[She dusts her hands off and anchors them on her knees so she can grin up at him.]

I think you're off to a great start.

[...Tifa may not know what he's been through, but hearing someone tell him he's doing fine is honestly assuring. He manages a small smile, the soil almost sparkling where he had watered.]
