SUMMER BEACH FUN

After a week of frenzy as everyone in town prepared for the weekend summer beach fun bash, the beach is now teeming with activity as everyone shouts in joy at seeing the beautiful white sands and clear waters. Blankets are out, tents erected, music and refreshments out on covered tables, and spirits are high as everyone has fun enjoying the new place. With the beach surrounded by jungle forests, it feels as if they stepped onto a tropical island getaway. And when night falls, it will be a time to relax and just enjoy the night sky, now graced with the new two moons.

Note: This log is open to everyone and doubles as a "Character Intro" for new characters who were just accepted this round. As a reminder, new characters are welcome to carry over their TDM as forward dated to the earlier days of July so that they're not really "new" if players wish to do so! Starting fresh is also acceptable. Please put Character Name | Canon in the subject line of your toplevel.

The log has two parts, with the first portion focusing on the beach party and the second half the same evening for the moon viewing. Any questions can be directed here.

I. BEACH PARTY

For those who don't have any beach attire or equipment, worry not! Swimwear, towels, umbrellas, changing tents, and anything else beach goers might need to enjoy the day out in the sun. Only thing lacking is sunscreen, but surely something with dreamotion or magic can be used as an alternative. Food and refreshments are also provided, some out fishing for some fresh catches or setting up some barbecue. There are a lot of activities both in and out of the water, so have fun!

A. Beach Games. There are a lot of games that can be played on the beach, and some may introduce activities that they're familiar with from their world. But there are three notable games that have gained popularity on the sandy shores. Just be careful not to litter or these seemingly cute and cuddly sea otters will rush out from the water and throw or smack anyone with the trash.

Water Balloon Fight. No teams, just an all out brawl. Buckets of balloons filled with rainbow colored water can be found scattered all over the beach so a battle can happen anytime, anywhere. Once hit, the balloon will explode into varying different colors, dying the person colorful shades from mundane to neon bright that will last from anywhere to a few minutes to an hour. Despite being stuck a splattered rainbow, it will leave everyone feeling festive and fun.
Beach Volleyball. There are a few nets set up for anyone to play with, and while it doesn't have to be volleyball, there is one section that is having very heated matches. Dreamotion is the key factor, people encouraging everyone to put on their "best fighting spirit." This is leading to the "ball" turning into more of a flaming ball of fire as players spike it and send it hurtling over the net at breathtaking speeds, some jumping tens of feet in the air to try and return the ball. This also means that sometimes the ball will fly out of control, so watch out! Maybe help put out some stray fires.
Fruit Slicer. While standing on a platform, participants will have a variety of fruit thrown at them and using dreamotion only, they must slice or destroy the fruit before they're hit or miss five. It starts off slow and easy before it escalates, getting faster with more fruit as time goes on. This results in a lot of messes as some go a bit extreme and instead of slicing, fruit explosions happen instead. But anyone can give it a go, just be careful if watching! Might get fruit juice splattered. For those who manage to make cleaner (sanitary) cuts, the fruit can be served out or even processed to make juice.
Sand Art. Sandcastles are overdone—why not try and make unique sand sculptures instead? Tools are provided, and dreamotion is encouraged to add some extra finesse. Some may even use their dreamotion to make their creations move with…varying results. It is sand, after all, not the sturdiest of materials.

B. Water Fun. Out in the water are more games and activities, with some inflatable tubes and other items that can be used out in the water. Sure there's just plain swimming and snorkeling, but there are more exciting things available as well.

Turtle Shell Boats. At some point, giant colorful sea turtles that are large enough to carry one full grown adult emerge from the waters, toting even larger clam shells behind them. They're big enough to fit two people, and the turtles offer (yes, they speak!) to pull anyone around the shores for a fun ride. Those who are skeptical will soon see that the daring ones will prove it a safe ride…though it can get a bit bumpy and the turtles are fast. It'll feel just like riding on a motorboat going at full speed, so hold on tight! Anyone who falls in the water will be rescued by the turtles.
Windsurfing. Sailboats are still under construction (though there are certainly some strange mockups around), but windsurfing is a current hit for what's available! Smoothing out large planks of driftwood and making makeshift sails, people are out on the waters riding those small waves with some helping out by creating wind via dreamotion. In fact, there are requests for anyone to help conjure wind or make the waves bigger. So if some are not as daring to try it out, perhaps they can lend a hand instead. Just be careful—too much wind might send the windsurfer flying into the air!
Snorkeling and Diving. For those who want to do some exploring, some basic gear for snorkeling and short distance diving has been prepared, though some could try and use dreamotion to take them further. Those who can transform will have an even easier time to swim and venture underwater. The waters are beautifully clear and at least in the shallows whatever marine life is around is friendly, some even waving or hiding in their coral homes. If there are any mermaids around, they're staying hidden. There must be something in the water keeping an eye on the new visitors, as whenever someone tries to go too far away from the breakline the current will suddenly push them back. Some may even see strange shadows in the far distance…but who knows what it could be. Anyway, this is the free for all swimming and exploring prompt so enjoy! Feel free to come up with whatever you think could be found between the shallow waters and the coral reefs that serve as a surf break before people are shoved back by the current.

C. Crabs vs. Lobsters Dance Off. Music and dancing is a must have for any beach party, and there is a section of the beach designated for just that. They may not have stereo speakers or high tech lights, but who needs that when they can just make one's own instruments with coconuts, reeds, acoustic guitars, and use dreamotion to amplify sound? But at some point, everyone's groove will be thrown with an army of raving crabs emerge from the sand followed by dancing lobsters from the waters. After some brief claw clacking and spitting insults at each other, now everyone is pulled into the feud and must help prove which crustacean group is the best. This is done either by wearing either a crab or lobster costume (where did they come from no one knows) or turning into a crab or lobster to fit in (also mysteriously done). Fortunately individuals conscripted into this feud only have to stay for one round and can leave the "stage" to turn back to normal.

II. MOON VIEWING

That same night a moon viewing party is planned as it would be the best time to look at the new two moons that now grace Songerein's night skies. For those who stick around, tents and sleeping bags will be provided for those who didn't bring their own to experience a fun camping trip on the beach. It's a little chillier at night, so campfires will also be found around. With a much more relaxed atmosphere there's not as much going on, but there are still a few highlights for people to participate in.

A. Social Mingle. With everyone unwinding, it's an easier time to just sit on the sand and stare up at the stares with some warm food and a good drink in hand. Just be mindful of the drinks, especially the alcoholic kind. They seem to be more flavorful and potent when under direct moonlight, causing one to reminisce about their home more than usual. Or feel more tipsy and daring than they normally would be.

B. Storytime. Some might feel more inclined to share stories while on the beach, especially if there's a campfire going. Spooky stories, stories about the moon, whatever one feels like sharing they will find that their words will "come to life" in the air. As soon as someone starts speaking, little twinkling lights will drift in and dance in the air, forming moving pictures to help illustrate the story.

C. Night Kites. Special kites illuminated with glowing beads that will grow brighter the more dreamotion is channeled into them are available for anyone willing to try and fly kites in the dark. There are standard shapes and then there are some that take after various sea creatures, making them seem like they're alive. There's enough wind at least, and if not dreamotion can help give a good burst to get them going. The beads make for colorful light displays, but be careful! People are running around in the dark after all, with only the moonlight and whatever light sources around to guide them.

D. Moon Lanterns. Later in the evening, attention is called to an area where some fae are showing how to make paper mache moon lanterns. The construction is easy and it is encouraged to use dreamotion to strengthen it, filling it with whatever hopes and dreams the individual may have. After lighting a special candle, the lanterns are to be set into the water where they will drift for a small distance before slowly rising up into the air. The lanterns will follow the moonlight and it is said they will eventually reach the moon and those hopes and dreams will be blessed, more likely to come true. Is it real or not, who's to say—but it's a nice little touch to end the evening.

[The green on his fur was starting to fade, which Angel was pleased about since he was feeling hella cute in his bikini. If that would have stained so help him... The whole beach would have been set ablaze. But with the frenzy of the water balloon war zone behind him, he could finally get back to finding a nice spot to soak up the sun~

This looked like a nice spot! Unfurling his beach towel, the demon was about to make himself at home when he heard shouting down the shore. He had barely just sat his ass down when out of no where he saw a pack of wild sand pups charging in his direction.]

Oh fuc-

[Without remorse he was tackled by the over eager canines, causing Angel to topple onto his back, getting sand everywhere. In his hair, down his top... I mean every nook. God damnit, it was going to take forever to clean! Despite getting coated in sand, Angel seemed to be good natured about the whole encounter. Not wanting to hurt the small creatures, he half heartedly tried to fight them off as they licked and wagged their tails.]

Hahaha~ S-stop that! That tickles! [Angel rolled helplessly in laughter.] Where's your leash?

[Eustace really shouldn't have made so many of these— This is what he gets for getting too into his work. Seeing the pups tackle someone only makes him grimace as he quickly runs over, grabbing at least one of the pups and unceremoniously (but not too roughly) tossing it off the demon.]

Sorry— Just shove them off, they're not real to begin with.

[Oh, why hello there stranger~ Yet another hottie Angel has ran into since coming to this place. Was this actually Heaven? What did he do to deserve such an assortment of eye candy? You know what? Best not to question it and just accept this gift. As gingerly as he could, the spider brushed off the other sand pups.]

Its alright.... [Shifting on his towel, he moved to stand up, dusting off the sand the best he could, adjusting his top before flashing Eustace a wide fanged smile.] I like dogs~

[There was a gleam in his eyes. He... he was talking about actual dogs, right? The tone in his voice was questionable.]

Don't think I've had the pleasure of meeting you before. Name's Angel.

[...

Eustace is starting to suspect Angel here, but he won't say anything, instead just giving a slight arch of his brow and choosing to ignore it.]

Eustace.

[A small pause.]

I don't recall seeing you around so I take it you're a new arrival.

[He definitely doesn't know everyone who comes and goes through Reverein, but it's still a relatively small town. Although it's filled with a plethora of people and races, Angel has a distinct look and feel, so it would be hard for him to not have at least noted his appearance.]

Well look at you. Cute and smart~ [Angel beams, preening himself slightly.]

Just come in a few days ago. Still tryin' to figure out where this is. Sure as Hell a lot nicer than where I'm from. Though... that's not a high bar to jump over.

[The spider glances around the beach for a moment before shrugging his shoulders, turning his attention back to the dog-eared man.]

So is all that natural? [He made a vague gesture to his ears and tail.] Don't look like any Hellhound I've even seen.

[More flattery...that bounces off.

Though at the mention "Hell," there's a slight pique of interest as he's reminded of someone else who has mentioned that before—Alastor. Surely there are likely others, but he does wonder if there's a chance of a connection between them.

But there it is, the usual question he gets.]

Yes. As an Erune the ears are real and natural.

[~~no tail~~]

[Tough crowd. Not like it was going to stop him from blowing more hot smoke.

A erune? Uh.... yeah. First time hearing that, but judging my context clues and the sample in front of him... He was going to go out on a limb to say it was a race of half furry bait wolf men. No judgement! I mean, look at him.]

Really now? [OH the temptation to touch them was strong but he resisted. But damn they looked soft. Reminded him of someone's stupid red hair.] Do ya do any other tricks? I see you have powers. Is it a hobby of yours to create sand pooches to pick up chicks?

[Not wrong— And no touching without permission...! Well Eustace would certainly not be pleased but if Angel really wanted to go for it he could try—

In the meantime, Eustace is just shooting the demon a slight look of disgust.]

I'm engaged.

[JUST FLAT OUT SAYING IT. He had already gotten the vibes, but so there is no misunderstanding......assuming Angel isn't the type to take his shots anyway.]

But no, rather than "powers" these somehow came to life from dreamotion.

[Angel cocked a questioning brow at Eustace. Not sure why he felt the need to disclosed his relationship status. Trying to show off? Yippie? Not like that was going to the spider from tossing shameless flattery his way. Hell, half of his clients were married. After all, what's adultery on top of being dammed to Hell, am I right?]

Dream what now?

[That word sound so familiar. He was pretty sure that talking pig on acid mentioned something about something when he first got here but... to be honest, he was not paying any attention. A lot of things were said that day he doesn't remember.]

That still sounds like weird voodoo powers to me.

[...Oh no this guy is not deterred. ...Should he run—

Will just be a little wary... Heck he could be misreading things, but then again Eustace was already the type to not really stick around for such interactions.

...That said did this guy really not pay attention—]

It's what they call the specific energy that grants your abilities here in this world.

[Oh Fiddo, you don't know the half of it. Angel really pay any attention what so ever when he first got here. But was it really his fault? How was he suppose to know this was all real and he had to take fucking notes on what he thought was his own bad trip?

So in response was a baffled looking spider.]

Wait wait wait, slow down. I have abilities? Like fucking superpowers? I mean, I have some abilities from back home but I can't shoot laser beams from my eyes.

[God dammit... why didn't he listen to acid pig? But hey, bright side? He wasn't trying to hit on him anymore?]

[Still not sure if this is better as he did not sign up to do a lesson on Songerein and how it works—]

...Yes.

[Just. Closing his eyes briefly and lets out a breath.]

Do you know anything about this place?

[Le gasp! H-hey, he knew some things about this place. ~~That other people told him about... BUT STILL!~~ Angel was the 'go with the flow' kind of guy. Though now that Eustace mentioned it.. there were a few things that made more sense now. He just thought that it was a part of this place's weird dream nonsense. Didn't really put too much thought behind what was causing it. Like when he woke up in Hel, you think he was an eight foot tall spider man in real life? No. He you know... just accepted that this was his afterlife now.

Crossing his arms, he made a face at Eustace. He ain't stupid.]

I know this place ain't all rainbows and lolipops. Know that a couple of Gods who probably think we are just a bunch of tinker toys run this place and that there are nasty nightmare monsters. Heard one fucked up Smiles pretty bad from Peaches. If these things can hurt the Radio Demon, then I'd be pissin' myself instead of playing with sand sculptures.

[...Who the hell is Smiles and Peaches??? Wait "Radio Demon"... Alastor? Just...going to stare at him for a moment before wondering where he even begins...]

As far as I'm aware, there are no "gods" or any other kind of higher being in control of this world. There's no evidence to prove there is or isn't, so I won't make much of a claim either way. [Having come from a world that has a legit creation myth yet not really one of a "believer of faith," he can move one way or the other so really it doesn't matter much to him.]

But the "nightmare monsters" are a natural part of this world. While nightmare energy itself is a dangerous element to be wary of as it affects ones psyche, the noctaere are not too difficult to deal with if handled properly. I consider them similar to the monsters of my world, with different rankings of danger. Not to be taken lightly, but not an omnipresent threat.

[Angel shrugged his shoulders, his eyes rolling a bit in his skull.]

I don't know much about the whole God situation. Just going off what Peaches told me. [Yep, going to keep talking about these people as if Eustace knew who he was talking about.] She told me that there was a baby God or something, that showed up and was havin' a nightmare? Her and Smiles went in together to help. Something happened and he got hurt is all I know.

[Letting out a sigh, the spider crossed his arms to give Eustace a flat stare.]

I haven't ran into these 'noctaere' myself so I don't know how tough the little bastards are. But I ain't afraid of a little fightin'. I'm a lot tougher than I look. Been in a turf war or two back in Hell. I'm more concerned about the creepy crawlies that could hurt Al. Alastor is a lot of things but he ain't stupid.

[Ah... He knows Alastor as he thought, and this confirms it all.]

It would depend on where it happened...

[...Okay he was going to just ignore it before but—]

First, who are Peaches and Smiles?

[Angel's eyes fluttered a bit at the question. Oh, right, would be a bit confusing if Fido here didn't know who he was talking about. He was just so used to not calling people by their real names that the thought never occurred to him.]

Keep up, Fido. [Huffing a sigh, he spider cocked out a hip to rest a hand on it.] Smiles is obviously Alastor. He always has that shit-eating grin plaster on his face regardless of what he's feelin'. And Peaches is ah... What was her name?... Small girl, sweet as a peach.... Mai? Mai? Oh! [He snaps his fingers as it hit him.] Mei! Cute girl. Poor judge of character.

Mei.

[.......Interesting. If it's Mei then...what the hell "baby god" was she talking about—oh the kirins. There's a brief look of realization and understanding as he puts the pieces together.]

I'm familiar with both, and I have a better understanding of what you're talking about now.

If you're concerned, just work on harnessing dreamotion as your own natural abilities will be less effective against them.

[Why wasn't he more worried about this? Was he the only one here that was concerned about the darker side to this candy coated town? Angel couldn't help but to roll his eyes a bit, though not directed at Eustace. Just at you know, life.]

Seeing how my own 'natural' abilities are sproutin' arms and telling if the weather is going to be bad, I say they wouldn't help me anyways. [The spider cast a glance down at the sandy pups.] I fail to see how these could fight off any of those nightmare beasts.

[He's just good at hiding it. Being used to it and having formed defensive plans help.]

They wouldn't, not as they are. I can't create it, however there would be a way if one could strengthen their form to become more like rock golems, capable of dealing substantial physical attacks.
