Who: Venti & Friends Which: Closed log with starters inside. Where: Reverein. What: A catch all log for things with Venti for the month of September. Warnings: Tba. Most likely alcohol use.
[Just like his peaceful days in Teyvat Venti finds quite the comfort in spending time outdoors in the sunshine and fresh breeze. Sitting amongst the crops of growing grapes or other fruit that might be made into wine someday. With the fresh lingering smell of sweet fruit in the air. It makes him dream, write, sing and everything in between.
That is where he is now, sitting in the field and enjoying the last rays of summer heat. Today it seems like sewing has perks Venti's creative side as he works on what appears to be a large pointed green hat much like a classic witch's hat. It looks to be made of bright green pieces with flowers and shiny gems stitched into it.]
Oh! Dear Oriphi! Hello! Would you mind coming here for a moment?
[He sees the woman on her way to the winery as usual but he might have a small request before she continues with her day.]
[ Oriphi, for her part, may be... a little more slow-going than she normally would be while making her way through the vineyards on her way to the winery. Still, in spite of the fatigue clear in her slowed pace and in her eyes, her face brightens at the familiar and cheery sound of Venti's voice. In spite of everything, she's so happy to see him.
Luckily, she's not too far away from where he is, and she does manage to make her way over in short time. ]
Hello, Venti!
[ She blinks at him as she notices his little project. ]
[Oh dear. Don't think Venti won't notice how she clearly looks a little worse for wear. As pretty as ever but there seems to be some exhaustion in the poor woman. Did something happen?
He tilts his head and smiles all the same.]
I was wondering if you could give me your opinion on this hat I'm making. Perhaps model it for a moment, if you could?
[Venti giggles as he holds up the large green mushroom hat he's been hand-stitching. It glistens prettily under the late summer sun. The little trinkets he's stitched into the side sparkling.]
I think I need someone about your size to try it on. Therefore, I think only you will do! Hmm. [He puts the hat back on his lap for a moment.] I might have to make a few adjustments for your horns. Let me...
[ Ori really canāt help but be captivated by Ventiās handiwork; it really is such a pretty hat, but at his comment she canāt help but laugh a bit. She figured they would run into such an issue. ]
You donāt have to do all that, Venti⦠Iām sure youāll be able to find someone with a similar height who wouldnāt have horns.
[ Hilda is the first to come to mind, but to Oriās knowledge, both she and Balthus have gone from this world⦠She sighs wearily. ]
I⦠Iāll humbly accept! It really is such a lovely hat, and it would look adorable on you too.
[ Sheās not quite sure if her exhaustion is really that obvious, or if Venti is just incredibly observant⦠Probably a bit of both, though she certainly wouldnāt be surprised to continue finding that he has quite the keen eye. Heās always been a bit of an enigma to her, after all, even though heās been nothing but friendly and pleasant (even when teasing her). ]
[ —had an encounter with a dear friend who had turned noctaere, is what she was going to say, but the insinuation in Ventiās words dawn upon her and⦠Rather than the animated flustering that he might have been treated to witnessing for such words on a normal day, instead Oriphiās shoulders slump down and she sighs, unintentionally putting on an admirable impression of a deflating balloon. Then without really thinking, she blurts out: ]
Hah, no, but that would have been better than what actually went onā¦
[Oh, he almost had her again. But it proves to Venti that there is something very much serious weighing on her mind. So, he gently chuckles his defeat and starts his hand stitching again.]
And what actually went on? Something that's clearly making you lose your beauty sleep. What's on your mind?
[ Not a small part of her is thankful that his teasing ceases there. Idly, her gaze falls to the hat that Venti is sewing, the glistening of the gems catching her eye. ]
Someone I care a lot about turned noctaere.
[ Not Diluc, although he nearly met the same fate months ago. ]
I... I've faced a lot of monsters and all sorts of things, but even then I wasn't prepared for... That. It all turned out alright in the end, but...
[Venti seems to look thoughtful although he's much more concerned. He has only seen those noctaere a handful of times but to see a friend changed is terrible. Just awful.]
That would be a terrible shock to see. No one should ever have to witness a friend suffering. Although I'm sure you did everything you could to help them, isn't that right?
[ Itās the question that pulls Oriās lips into a frown, and that has her shrinking a little bit into herself like a flower wilting. ]
I donāt know. I did what I could. But when I look back on it now, I canāt help but feel like I failed. Like if I was stronger, or faster, or better⦠Things might have gone differently.
[ She sighs. ]
I know that itās not good to think that way. But itās hard not to, after everything.
[ Sheās surprised when Venti reaches up to adorn her hair with a flower, a gesture so kind and soft that sheās a bit blindsided by it⦠Especially given that heād been teasing her just moments ago, too. ]
I knowā¦
[ She knows heās right. And surely, Diluc has reassured her of the same things, that her contributions were enough and that she did everything she could. But that she gets the same message from Venti now has her looking at him with an expression thatās both curious and surprised. Venti surprises her at times, and like when he visited after Thomaās departure, he offers her something wise and profound right when she needs it. ]
You always seem to know just what to say, Venti. Even though you like to say things to fluster me on purpose sometimes, you⦠Youāre a kind, caring person. Thank you.

[ She's literally never been asked to model anything before. So she tilts her head at him curiously, and his smile is met with a cautious look. ]
Oh, I mean, the hat looks lovely, Venti. It's actually very pretty! But I'm sure someone else would be able to model it. Maybe Aether?

I'd like to make this for you as a gift, after all.

Oh, okay...
[ And then it hits, and her eyes widen with a gasp. ]
Wait— Venti? How come? You didn't have to go through all this trouble...

[Venti chirps back happily as he lifts the hat to check another side of it. It's looking lovely so far.]
Besides, it looks like you could use a pick me up. How are you?

As for me, I⦠Iām just a bit tired, is all.

Have a seat?
[As he works it seems that there might me a flicker or two of the odd stray anemo crystalfly that flutters about in the sky.]
Why so tired, dear Oriphi? Too many late nights? Do I need to have a word with Diluc?
[Wink wonk.]

Even though our efforts might seem small it only takes a single butterfly's wing to create a whirlwind.

Well, I wouldn't be much of a bard if I couldn't find the right words to say. As the best bard in Teyvat I think it's only fair I do my best always.
[For all of the people of Mondstadt and for those that Mondstadters love as well.]
