1-A ☆ Bookworm

It was a perfect crisp autumn afternoon and the vibrant colors of the changing leaves was a pleasant sight from within the small walls of the greenhouse. Those passing by The Archives on their way to do their daily tasks could see that there was a new face that graced the library. A rather large owl-like Goetic Demon was hard to miss. Sitting at one of the "medium" sized tables, it still looked like a child's desk in comparison to his tall and slender stature. As usual, the prince looked unbothered by how much of the world around him didn't conform to his body proportions. He was engrossed with the stack of books that were neatly placed around him as he scribbled into a blank leather bound tome of his own.

One by one, with a flick of his talons bluish purple magic entwined between his claws as a similar aura would surround the next book in the stack, levitating it to a cleared spot on the desk beside him. With a casual flick of his finger, the pages turned on their own accord until something caught the demon's eye and the flutter of pages would pause long enough for the owl the scrawl in his journal. Once the books provided no more useful information, Stolas would simply wave with a glow of his hand to send the book floating carefully back to its home on the shelves. On and on this process would repeat, with the graceful dance of drifting books and the glimmer of magic.

1-B ☆ Map the Stars

The night was still with the pleasant hum of Reverein's nocturnal wildlife in the air. Under the boughs of one of the elegant trees that lined the silent banks of the large lake deep within the forest sat Stolas. Knees buckled into his chest to prop a journal in his lap, his red eyes turned skyward. There wasn't an air of concern about what local fauna could be lurking in the dark. The Goetia was enjoying the peaceful scenery as moonlight glittered in the ripples. A part of him couldn't help but wish his daughter could see this. That he could share it with... Never mind. He pushed that thought away.

Bathed in the glow of the two moons, it was bright enough to illuminate the page before him. To those with a keen eye could see the contents of his notebook. It appeared to be a circular grid in which he was studiously drawing on. A map of some kind?

2-A ☆ Cursed Candies

The Goetic Prince sure did love his fair share of festivities~ Ones that weren't made at his dispense, that is. The locals around Reverein were getting the owl into the holiday spirit with all their little parties that seem to be sprouting all over. And besides, who doesn't love a costume change or two? Certainly this daddy diva did~ Dressed like a swash-buckling pirate complete with two eyepatches to cover his secondary eye over his forehead was Stolas, enter mingling with the small cluster of fae that flooded the street. Towering over the flock of colorfully dressed fae was probably a sight to see. But Stolas appeared to be enjoying himself regardless. Who wouldn't be with the gifts of free candy? Pocketing the sweets into a draw-string bag that one of the locals graciously provided, he occasionally would pop one into his mouth in between idle chit-chat.

Some had an... interesting after taste that left his tongue tingling. And the lingering urge to plunder some booty.

2-B ☆ Birds of a Feather

The sun was high and the corvids were cawing~ Seriously.. as of late, the number of crows the Goetic Prince had counted had nearly doubled over the past few days. Not that he minded this feathery invasion. Just... a curious observation. The demon chalked it up to being apart of the Halloween spirit. Only being here for a month, he had already grown used to its oddities.

Walking down one of the forested paths, Stolas carried a small basket filled with quills and parchment as he heads back towards the library again. However, along the way he stumbled upon a murder of crows. Normally he wouldn't spare a second glance but something caught his keen eyes. A glimmer. Clutched in the bill of the shale black bird was a marble? No. It was one of those strange baubles that appeared by his bedside. Why in Hell would it have one of those? A kind deliverer? Or a thief? Looking at the rest of the flock he realized they all had something glittering in their beaks. But before he could take a closer look, the biggest of the group gave Stolas a throaty kraa singling the clan to take to the sky. Curious, the owl followed.

The air around him cooled as he could hear the whisper of water over rocks. He could tell the river was close as the birds descended back into the trees. Was their nest nearby?

Mei was doing her best to keep up with her studies, making sure to give herself a whole stack of homework every single night. This was no exception, as she was carrying plenty of books in her arms - probably more than she could handle, but as long as she wasn't distracted, she could handle it!

... Of course she was distracted by floating books and colorful magic!

She stared in slack-jawed wonder... and then tripped over her own feet, sending the books flying and flopping face-first into the floor. Once again, making a wonderful impression on Stolas.

"... Ow."

Della was sort of forced into being a night-owl herself. Ten years on the moon made for an erratic sleeping schedule... plus, she too was missing her children. Sure, it was probably for the best Louie was "sent back", but she still had so many questions for him... and, like Stolas, she did her best to push such thoughts away.

Instead, she focused on the odd lighting and the odd figure - finally! Someone who looked "normal"! - and smiled. He seemed deeply focused on something, and she was a bit of a prankster. What better way to make a new friend than by scaring the bajeebus out of them?

Suppressing a giggle, Della went into stealth mode, trying to sneak upon the unsuspecting prince. If all went well, she'd try to flick the back of his neck and add in a little "BOO!"

Satan had come to The Archives to update himself on anything new and to consider adding some information himself. But, he is quickly distracted from this when he sees the huge owl at a desk that feels like it's much smaller than it actually is. He watches Stolas for a bit with a pile of research material cradled in his arms, impressed with how quickly he's adapted to using magic in this world.

On one hand, he's not really in the mood for... peopling today. Maintaining a façade of general cheerfulness this past week or so has really taken its toll, but he likes Stolas well enough. So, after adjusting the items in his arms so they don't tumble to the floor, he approaches the owl.

"Hey, look at you," he says gently with a smile as he reaches the table. "Most people don't catch on so quickly. Find anything of interest?"

"W-Whoa!" That was one way to be helped back up! It was kind of cool, even if the lead-in was super embarrassing! "Thanks... sorry, I should probably be used to all the weird stuff around here, but your magic is so amazing!"

She began to pick up her fallen books, one by one.

Now Anya was just minding her own reading at the Archive as she looks into some reference books about dreamotion energy when she gets distracted by a purple energy caused books to levitate in the air. It has left Anya very much in shock, wondering did the magic come from.

So she picks up the books she was reading from the desk and follows the trail of magic to find a giant owl like figure who’s also doing the same thing as she did earlier. Apologies in advance if Stolas finds a young human woman gawking at his huge figure in utter shock.

Della cackled, amazed she actually got to pull it off! "Oh, dude, you should've seen your face! It was PRICELESS!" Sure, the extra eyes and the glowy-ness were kinda creepy, but creepy was cool! "What I wouldn't give for a camera right now!"

After letting out a few more gaggles of giggles, Della tried to calm down, patting her chest. "Oh, lighten up, it was just a harmless prank! You should see the stuff I do on Halloween - compared to that, you got off easy!"

Simple, he said! Sheesh!

She bumped her heels together, nodding. "Yup! I can't let my grades or my mind slip while I'm here, so I study every night! I've got to make sure I get an hour of homework done before bedtime."

“Um, I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you,” Anya profusely apologizes to him, “I was noticing a couple of books floating about int he Archives, so I was wondering where the magic causing them to do that come from and I ended up finding you busy reading as well.”

It was easy not to be scared when she had no idea what he was talking about. There was some very vague familiarity with it, but wayyy back in the furthest part of her mind, no doubt Scrooge telling her not to look into something too much. Something about keys and grimoires and blah blah blah.

"What's a Goetia?" She casually walked right alongside him now, as if they were the best of friends. "Type of monster? Type of magic? Give me all the deets! Kinda thought you were one of my folks, but last I checked, none of mine had 20/20/20 vision." She nudged him with her elbow, thinking her vision joke especially clever.

"Oh, no, my parents aren't here. I'm the only one from my world here." Or at least her own timeline! "But I have to keep my schedules! If I don't keep up my studies, my brain will turn into lazy goo when I wake up from this place!"

Sure, she didn't have actual evidence of this being possible, but better safe than sorry!

And... still not intimidated. In fact, the exact opposite.

"Haha, neat!" Not said in any mockery or disbelief - just that he had shared some neat information about himself! "So would that have been Medusa-style, just freeze-frame, or transmogrifying me into a solid piece of rock?" She plopped right next to him, clearly not intending to leave his side anytime soon. "I'll admit, magic's one of the few things I'm not totally an expert on. My uncle's not a huge fan of magic, thinks most of it's a dangerous cheat." Half-shrug.

Hearing that crows had been stealing things of value was... not exactly weird? Not in the way that everything else in Reverein had been. But strange enough to catch the ear. And after everything that'd happened with the dragons last month, Akechi had thought, perhaps, someone would have to do something about it. But how? Large net? Some sort of bird trap?

Somehow, the idea of crow-hunting just felt inherently wrong, their being his namesake among the Thieves notwithstanding-

And then he'd remembered something he'd read, once, about crows bringing trinkets to people who were nice to them.

And so, the past three days, he'd come to his exact spot, around noon, with a sandwich and a thermos full of tea and a bag of roasted pumpkin seeds from a bakery in town- one benefit, at least, of the fall pumpkin craze- and scattered the goods where they could be seen.

And, wouldn't you know it, it was working. They'd started showing up a few minutes into the process, and then he'd sat down on a rock, and waited. Birds who approached got extra seeds thrown to them. On day three, when one had hopped up onto the rock next to him, but not quite within arm's reach, that one had been rewarded with a choice treat indeed, a scrap of turkey from his lunch-

And here it was, day four of staking out this little bend of the river, and he was well on his way to the spot that was starting to become almost routine, at this point, when one of the nearby crows sounded an alarm and the entire damn flock took to the sky.

Akechi turned and looked for the source of the disturbance- and found a nine-foot-tall goddamn owl.

Well, after the eight-foot pink spider, was that really such a shock? "Hi. Here for the birds, I take it?"

“Yes, that is true: we don’t gave creatures who look like you in my world. In fact, my world has been a normal world for the most part, unless you count a guy with a powerful relic that summons green minions,” Anya nods as she reciprocates the handshake offer, “Anyway, my name is Anya. A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Sir.”
